+-Was ist Montelukast Sandoz und wann wird es angewendet?

Montelukast Sandoz enthält einen Wirkstoff, welcher die Wirkung von körpereigenen Substanzen, den sog. Leukotrienen, hemmt. Leukotriene verursachen die Verengung und Schwellung der Atemwege in Ihren Lungen. Die Blockierung der Leukotriene führt zur Besserung der Asthmasymptome und hilft, Asthmaanfälle zu vermeiden. Leukotriene verursachen auch allergische Symptome. Eine Blockierung der Leukotriene verbessert die Allergiesymptome (saisonale Allergien während gewissen Jahreszeiten, und perenniale Allergien, die während des ganzen Jahres auftreten).

Ihr Arzt oder Ihre Ärztin hat Ihnen oder Ihrem Kind (ab 6 Monaten) Montelukast Sandoz zur Behandlung des Asthmas und der Asthmasymptome während des Tages oder der Nacht verschrieben. Bei jüngeren Kindern (6 Monate bis 5 Jahre) kann der Arzt oder die Ärztin Montelukast Sandoz zur Behandlung von leichterem Asthma verschreiben oder er bzw. sie kann es bei schwererem Asthma zusätzlich zu einer Therapie mit Kortikosteroiden verordnen. Montelukast Sandoz verhindert auch die Verengung der Atemwege, welche durch körperliche Anstrengung ausgelöst wird.

Ihr Arzt oder Ihre Ärztin hat Ihnen oder Ihrem Kind (ab 2 Jahren) Montelukast Sandoz zur Behandlung saisonbedingter und perennialer Allergien (verstopfte Nase, laufende Nase, juckende Nase, Niesen, verstopfte Nase beim Erwachen, Schwierigkeiten beim Schlafengehen, Aufwachen während der Nacht, Tränen, juckende, rote und angeschwollene Augen) verschrieben.

Montelukast Sandoz darf nur auf Verschreibung des Arztes oder der Ärztin eingenommen werden.

+-Was sollte dazu beachtet werden?

Was ist Asthma?

Asthma ist eine chronische, entzündliche Krankheit der Atemwege mit folgenden Eigenschaften:

  • Verengung der Atemwege, wodurch das Atmen erschwert wird. Diese Verengung kann sich unter verschiedenen Bedingungen verschlimmern oder auch bessern.
  • Entzündung der Atemwege und dadurch geschwollene Wände der Atemwege.
  • Überempfindlichkeit der Atemwege auf unterschiedliche Einwirkungen wie z.B. Zigarettenrauch, Pollen oder kalte Luft.

Symptome des Asthmas umfassen:

Husten, Keuchen und Engegefühl in der Brust. Nicht alle Menschen mit Asthma keuchen. Bei einigen Betroffenen kann auch der Husten das einzige Symptom des Asthmas darstellen. Symptome treten häufig während der Nacht oder nach einer körperlichen Anstrengung auf.

Durch eine Behandlung kann das Asthma unter Kontrolle gebracht werden. Es ist wichtig, auch nur leichte Asthmasymptome zu behandeln, so dass Sie einer Verschlimmerung vorbeugen können.

Wie sollte Asthma behandelt werden?

Um Asthmasymptome zu verhindern und Ihre Atmung zu verbessern, müssen Sie mit Ihrem Arzt oder Ihrer Ärztin eng zusammenarbeiten, um:

  • Wege zu finden, damit der Kontakt mit Bedingungen, welche einen Asthmaanfall auslösen (z.B. Rauchen einschliesslich Passiv-Rauchen, Hausstaubmilben, Küchenschaben, Schimmelpilze, Pollen, Tierhaare, Wetterveränderungen, Temperaturschwankungen und Infekte der oberen Luftwege, wie z.B. Erkältungen), vermieden oder reduziert wird.
  • Einen Behandlungsplan zu erarbeiten, welcher Ihr Asthma bestmöglichst unter Kontrolle hält.

Was ist allergische Rhinitis?

  • Saisonbedingte Allergien (auch bekannt als Heufieber [Heuschnupfen] oder saisonale allergische Rhinitis) sind eine allergische Reaktion häufig verursacht durch über die Luft verbreitete Pollen von Bäumen, Gräsern und Unkraut.
  • Perenniale Allergien können während des ganzen Jahres auftreten und sind eine allergische Reaktion häufig verursacht durch Staubmilben, tierische Hautschuppen und/oder Schimmelpilzsporen.

Die Tages- und Nacht-Symptome der allergischen Rhinitis können die folgenden typischen Merkmale umfassen:

  • verstopfte, laufende, juckende Nase;
  • Niesen;
  • wässrige, angeschwollene, rote, juckende Augen.
+-Wann darf Montelukast Sandoz nicht angewendet werden?

Nehmen Sie Montelukast Sandoz nicht ein, wenn Sie oder Ihr Kind auf einen der Inhaltsstoffe allergisch reagieren.

Die Kautabletten enthalten den Azofarbstoff Allurarot AC (E129). Patientinnen und Patienten, die auf Azofarbstoffe, Acetylsalicylsäure sowie Rheuma- und Schmerzmittel (Prostaglandinhemmer) überempfindlich reagieren, sollen Montelukast Sandoz Kautabletten nicht anwenden.

+-Wann ist bei der Einnahme von Montelukast Sandoz Vorsicht geboten?

Montelukast Sandoz ist für die Behandlung eines Asthmaanfalles nicht geeignet. Beim Auftreten eines Asthmaanfalles sollten Sie oder Ihr Kind den Anweisungen folgen, die Ihr Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin Ihnen für diese Situation gegeben hat.

Wenn sich Ihr Asthma oder das Asthma Ihres Kindes verschlimmert, sollten Sie sofort mit Ihrem Arzt oder Ihrer Ärztin Kontakt aufnehmen.

Berichten Sie Ihrem Arzt oder Ihrer Ärztin über alle medizinischen Probleme oder Allergien, die Sie oder Ihr Kind zur Zeit haben oder gehabt haben.

Über Veränderungen des Verhaltens oder der Stimmungslage wurde bei Patientinnen und Patienten unter Montelukast berichtet.

Informieren Sie Ihren Arzt oder Ihre Ärztin, wenn Sie oder Ihr Kind folgende Veränderungen der Stimmungslage oder des Verhaltens bemerken: Abnormes Träumen und Halluzinationen, Reizbarkeit, Unruhe einschliesslich aggressives Verhalten oder ablehnendes Verhalten, Ruhelosigkeit, Zittern, Ängstlichkeit, Depression, Desorientierung, Störung der Aufmerksamkeit, Gedächtnisschwäche, Selbstmordgedanken und -handlungen, Schlafwandeln, Schlaflosigkeit.

Die Montelukast Sandoz 5 mg Kautablette ist für Kinder von 6 bis 14 Jahren geeignet. Die Montelukast Sandoz 4 mg Kautablette ist für Kleinkinder von 2 bis 5 Jahren geeignet. Das Montelukast Sandoz Sachet zu 4 mg oralem Granulat ist für Kleinkinder von 6 Monaten bis 5 Jahren geeignet.

Die Sicherheit und Wirksamkeit von Montelukast Sandoz bei Kindern unter 6 Monaten ist bis jetzt noch nicht erwiesen.

Studien haben gezeigt, dass es praktisch keinen Unterschied bezüglich der Wachstumsrate von Kindern gibt, die Montelukast Sandoz einnehmen verglichen mit Plazebo (einer Tablette ohne Wirkstoff).

Es ist möglich, dass andere Arzneimittel die Wirkung von Montelukast Sandoz beeinflussen können, oder dass Montelukast Sandoz die Wirkung von anderen Arzneimitteln beeinflussen kann. Es ist deshalb wichtig, dass Sie Ihrem Arzt oder Ihrer Ärztin über alle Arzneimittel berichten, die Sie oder Ihr Kind zur Zeit einnehmen oder einzunehmen gedenken, auch über solche, die Sie ohne ärztliche Verschreibung erhalten haben.

Falls Ihr Kind Phenylketonurie hat, sollten Sie beachten, dass die 5 mg Kautabletten und die 4 mg Kautabletten Aspartam enthalten, aus welchem im Körper Phenylalanin freigesetzt wird (0,67 mg Phenylalanin pro 5 mg Kautablette und 0,54 mg Phenylalanin pro 4 mg Kautablette).

Montelukast Sandoz sollte Ihre Fahrtüchtigkeit oder das Bedienen von Maschinen nicht beeinträchtigen.

Informieren Sie Ihren Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihre Ärztin oder Apothekerin, wenn Sie

  • an anderen Krankheiten leiden,
  • Allergien haben oder
  • andere Arzneimittel (auch selbstgekaufte!) einnehmen.
+-Darf Montelukast Sandoz während einer Schwangerschaft oder in der Stillzeit eingenommen werden?

Frauen, die schwanger sind oder schwanger werden wollen, sollten ihren Arzt bzw. ihre Ärztin kontaktieren, bevor sie Montelukast Sandoz einnehmen.

Es ist nicht bekannt, ob Montelukast Sandoz in die Muttermilch übertritt. Wenn Sie stillen oder stillen möchten, sollten Sie Ihren Arzt oder Ihre Ärztin fragen, bevor Sie Montelukast Sandoz einnehmen.

+-Wie verwenden Sie Montelukast Sandoz?

Nehmen Sie Montelukast Sandoz wie vom Arzt oder der Ärztin verschrieben einmal täglich mit oder ohne Mahlzeit ein.

  • Die Dosierung für Erwachsene oder Jugendliche ab 15 Jahren für die Behandlung von Asthma und/oder allergischer Rhinitis beträgt eine Tablette zu 10 mg pro Tag.
  • Die Dosierung für Kinder von 6 bis 14 Jahren für die Behandlung von Asthma und/oder allergischer Rhinitis beträgt eine Kautablette zu 5 mg pro Tag.
  • Die Dosierung für Kleinkinder von 2 bis 5 Jahren für die Behandlung von Asthma und/oder allergischer Rhinitis beträgt eine Kautablette zu 4 mg pro Tag oder ein Sachet zu 4 mg oralem Granulat einmal täglich.
  • Die Dosierung für Kleinkinder von 6 Monaten bis 2 Jahren für die Behandlung von Asthma beträgt ein Sachet zu 4 mg oralem Granulat einmal täglich.

Bei Asthma sollte Montelukast Sandoz einmal täglich am Abend eingenommen werden.

Bei allergischer Rhinitis sollte Montelukast Sandoz einmal täglich morgens oder abends eingenommen werden.

Anwendungshinweise für die Verabreichung von Montelukast Sandoz Sachet

Das Sachet erst aufmachen, wenn das Arzneimittel gebraucht wird.

Montelukast Sandoz orales Granulat kann gegeben werden:

  • entweder direkt in den Mund; eingerührt in einem Teelöffel (5 ml) kalter oder auf Zimmertemperatur erwärmter Babynahrung oder Muttermilch;
  • oder gemischt mit einem Löffel kalter oder auf Zimmertemperatur erwärmter weicher Nahrung (z.B. Apfelmus);
  • mischen Sie den Inhalt des Sachets in einen Löffel mit kalter oder auf Zimmertemperatur erwärmter weicher Nahrung, oder einem Teelöffel kalter oder auf Zimmertemperatur erwärmter Babynahrung oder Muttermilch. Achten Sie darauf, dass die ganze Dosis mit der Nahrung, Babynahrung oder Muttermilch vermischt wird;
  • stellen Sie sicher, dass Ihr Kind den ganzen Löffel mit der Mischung von Sachetinhalt und Nahrung, Babynahrung oder Muttermilch sofort einnimmt (innerhalb von 15 Minuten).

WICHTIG: Bewahren Sie nie eine Mischung von Sachetinhalt und Nahrung, Babynahrung oder Muttermilch für eine spätere Verwendung auf.

Montelukast Sandoz orales Granulat sollte nur in Babynahrung oder Muttermilch eingerührt werden, nicht jedoch in anderen Flüssigkeiten. Ihr Kind kann jedoch nach Einnahme des Sachetinhalts Flüssigkeiten zu sich nehmen.

Es ist wichtig, Montelukast Sandoz so lange einzunehmen, wie es Ihr Arzt oder Ihre Ärztin verschrieben hat, um so Ihr Asthma oder das Asthma Ihres Kindes unter Kontrolle zu bringen. Montelukast Sandoz kann Ihr Asthma oder das Asthma Ihres Kindes nur dann behandeln, wenn Sie oder Ihr Kind es ohne Unterbrechung einnehmen, auch wenn keine Symptome vorhanden sind.

Sollten Sie oder Ihr Kind dennoch eine Dosis ausgelassen haben, fahren Sie mit der Einnahme einer Tablette oder eines Sachets pro Tag nach dem üblichen Zeitplan fort.

Wenn Sie aus Versehen mehr als vorgeschrieben eingenommen haben, sollten Sie sofort mit Ihrem Arzt oder Ihrer Ärztin Kontakt aufnehmen.

Ändern Sie nicht von sich aus die verschriebene Dosierung des Arzneimittels. Wenn Sie glauben, das Arzneimittel wirke zu schwach oder zu stark, so sprechen Sie mit Ihrem Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. mit Ihrer Ärztin oder Apothekerin.

+-Welche Nebenwirkungen kann Montelukast Sandoz haben?

Folgende Nebenwirkungen können bei der Einnahme von Montelukast Sandoz auftreten: Bauchschmerzen, Kopfschmerzen, Durst, Durchfall, übermässige Bewegungsaktivität, Asthma, Entzündungen der Haut und Hautausschlag waren die häufigsten Nebenwirkungen bei einer Behandlung mit Montelukast Sandoz. Zusätzlich wurden die folgenden unerwünschten Wirkungen gemeldet:

  • Entzündung im Bereich der oberen Atemwege;
  • Schwellungen, allergische Reaktionen einschliesslich Schwellung des Gesichts, der Lippen, Zunge und/oder des Rachens, welche Schwierigkeiten beim Atmen oder Schlucken verursachen können; Nesselausschlag, Hautausschlag und Hautjucken;
  • abnormes Träumen und Halluzinationen, Reizbarkeit, Unruhe einschliesslich aggressives Verhalten oder ablehnendes Verhalten, Ruhelosigkeit, Zittern, Ängstlichkeit, Depression, Desorientierung, Störung der Aufmerksamkeit, Gedächtnisschwäche,  Selbstmordgedanken und -handlungen, Schlafwandeln, Schlaflosigkeit;
  • Schläfrigkeit, Schwindel, Kribbeln/Taubheit und sehr selten Krampfanfälle;
  • Gelenkschmerzen, Muskelschmerzen, Muskelkrämpfe;
  • Übelkeit, Erbrechen, Verdauungsstörungen, Durchfall, Hepatitis;
  • Blutungsneigung, tiefe Anzahl von Blutplättchen, Bluterguss, schwere Hautreaktionen («Erythema multiforme»), welche ohne Warnung auftreten können, Herzklopfen;
  • Nasenbluten, Schwellung (Entzündung) der Lunge;
  • Bettnässen bei Kindern;
  • allgemeine Schwäche/Müdigkeit;
  • Fieber.

Wenn Sie oder Ihr Kind Nebenwirkungen bemerken, die hier nicht beschrieben sind, wenn Sie oder Ihr Kind irgendwelche ungewöhnlichen Symptome entwickeln oder wenn ein bekanntes Symptom andauert oder sich verschlimmert, sollten Sie Ihren Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihre Ärztin oder Apothekerin informieren.

+-Was ist ferner zu beachten?

In der Originalverpackung, bei Raumtemperatur (15?25 °C), vor Licht und Feuchtigkeit geschützt und ausser Reichweite von Kindern lagern.

Das Arzneimittel darf nur bis zu dem auf der Packung mit «EXP» bezeichneten Datum verwendet werden.

+-Was ist in Montelukast Sandoz enthalten?

Jede 10 mg Filmtablette enthält 10 mg Montelukast und Hilfsstoffe zur Tablettenherstellung.

Die Kautabletten enthalten 5 mg bzw. 4 mg Montelukast, Aspartam, Allurarot AC (E129), Aromastoffe (Kirschengeschmack) sowie weitere Hilfsstoffe zur Tablettenherstellung.

Jedes Sachet zu 4 mg oralem Granulat enthält 4 mg Montelukast sowie Hilfsstoffe zur Herstellung eines Granulats.
