Januvia enthält den Wirkstoff Sitagliptin. Dieser gehört zu einer Klasse von Arzneimitteln, die DPP-4-Inhibitoren (Dipeptidylpeptidase-4-Inhibitoren) genannt werden und die oral (durch den Mund) eingenommen werden. Sie erniedrigen den Blutzucker von Patienten mit Diabetes mellitus Typ 2 (Diabetes mellitus: Zuckerkrankheit). Diabetes mellitus Typ 2 wird auch Nicht-Insulinabhängiger Diabetes mellitus genannt.
Ihr Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin hat Ihnen Januvia verschrieben, um Ihren Blutzucker zu senken, der wegen Ihrer Diabetes Typ 2 Erkrankung zu hoch ist und nicht allein durch Diät und körperliche Betätigung behandelt werden kann. Januvia kann alleine oder in Kombination mit bestimmten anderen Arzneimitteln eingenommen werden, die den Blutzucker senken, in Kombination mit einer gezielten Diät und ausreichender Bewegung.
Januvia verbessert den Insulinspiegel im Blut nach einer Mahlzeit und senkt die vom Körper produzierte Zuckermenge. Da es bei niedrigem Blutzuckerspiegel nicht wirkt, ist es unwahrscheinlich, dass Januvia Unterzuckerung (Hypoglykämie) verursacht.
Januvia darf nur auf Verschreibung des Arztes bzw. der Ärztin eingenommen werden.
Diabetes Typ 2 ist eine Krankheit, bei der Ihr Körper einerseits nicht genügend Insulin produziert und andererseits das von Ihrem Körper produzierte Insulin nicht so stark wirkt, wie es sollte. Es kann aber auch sein, dass Ihr Körper zuviel Zucker produziert. Wenn dies geschieht, reichert sich Zucker (Glukose) im Blut an. Dies kann zu gefährlichen gesundheitlichen Problemen führen.
Das Hauptziel der Behandlung von Diabetes ist die Senkung Ihres Blutzuckers auf ein normales Niveau. Die Senkung und Kontrolle des Blutzuckers kann dazu beitragen, die Komplikationen des Diabetes, wie beispielsweise Herzkrankheiten, Nierenerkrankung, Blindheit und Amputationen zu verhindern oder zu verzögern.
Hoher Blutzucker kann durch Diät und genügend Bewegung, sowie durch bestimmte Arzneimittel, gesenkt werden.
Nehmen Sie Januvia nicht ein, wenn Sie allergisch auf einen Wirkstoff oder einen Hilfsstoff dieses Arzneimittels sind.
Was muss ich meinem Arzt bzw. meiner Ärztin mitteilen, bevor ich Januvia einnehme?
Informieren Sie Ihren Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihre Ärztin oder Apothekerin über die folgenden aktuellen oder früheren Erkrankungen:
Es wurden Fälle von Bauchspeicheldrüsenentzündungen (Pankreatitis) bei Patienten die Januvia einnahmen beobachtet. Eine Pankreatitis ist eine schwerwiegende, potentiell lebensbedrohende Krankheit. Beenden Sie die Einnahme von Januvia und suchen Sie Ihren Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin auf, falls Sie starke und anhaltende Bauchschmerzen, mit oder ohne Erbrechen bekommen, da Sie an Pankreatitis leiden könnten.
Januvia wurde bei Kindern und Jugendlichen unter 18 Jahren nicht untersucht.
Eine altersabhängige Dosisanpassung ist nicht notwendig.
Informieren Sie Ihren Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihre Ärztin oder Apothekerin, wenn Sie:
Frauen, die schwanger sind oder eine Schwangerschaft planen, sollten ihren Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin konsultieren, bevor sie Januvia einnehmen. Die Einnahme von Januvia während der Schwangerschaft wird nicht empfohlen.
Es ist nicht bekannt, ob Januvia in die Muttermilch übergeht. Sie sollten deshalb Januvia nicht einnehmen, wenn Sie stillen oder die Absicht haben zu stillen. Sprechen Sie mit Ihrem Arzt bzw. Ihrer Ärztin.
Nehmen Sie Januvia genau so ein, wie es Ihnen von Ihrem Arzt bzw. Ihrer Ärztin verschrieben wurde. Die empfohlene Dosis ist einmal täglich eine 100 mg Tablette mit oder ohne Mahlzeit.
Wenn Sie unter Nierenproblemen leiden, kann Ihnen Ihr Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin eine tiefere Dosis verschreiben.
Ihr Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin kann Ihnen Januvia zusammen mit bestimmten anderen Arzneimitteln verschreiben, die den Blutzucker senken.
Nehmen Sie Januvia so lange ein, wie von Ihrem Arzt bzw. Ihrer Ärztin verschrieben, damit Ihr Blutzucker unter Kontrolle bleibt.
Diät und Bewegung können dazu beitragen, dass Ihr Körper den Blutzucker besser verwertet. Es ist wichtig, dass Sie die von Ihrem Arzt bzw. Ihrer Ärztin verschriebene Diät, ausreichende Bewegung und das Programm für Gewichtsreduktion einhalten, während Sie Januvia einnehmen.
Falls Sie einmal eine deutlich höhere als die vorgeschriebene Dosis Januvia einnehmen, melden Sie dies sofort Ihrem Arzt bzw. Ihrer Ärztin.
Sollten Sie einmal eine Dosis vergessen haben, nehmen Sie diese ein, sobald Sie sich daran erinnern. Wenn Sie sich erst daran erinnern, wenn die nächste Dosis an der Reihe ist, überspringen Sie die verpasste Dosis und fahren Sie einfach mit dem regulären Schema weiter. Nehmen Sie keine doppelte Dosis Januvia ein.
Ändern Sie nicht von sich aus die verschriebene Dosierung. Wenn Sie glauben, das Arzneimittel wirke zu schwach oder zu stark so sprechen Sie mit Ihrem Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihrer Ärztin oder Apothekerin.
Wie alle Arzneimittel kann Januvia Nebenwirkungen haben. In verschiedenen Studien erwiesen sich die Nebenwirkungen normalerweise als schwach und bei keinem Patienten musste Januvia abgesetzt werden. Die mit Januvia behandelten Patienten verspürten ähnliche Nebenwirkungen wie die Patienten, die eine Tablette ohne Wirkstoff (Plazebo) eingenommen hatten.
Wenn Januvia in Kombination mit einem Arzneimittel, das Sulfonylharnstoff enthält oder zusammen mit Insulin, eingenommen wird, kann eine Unterzuckerung mit Symptomen aufgrund des Sulfonylharnstoffes oder des Insulins auftreten. Deshalb wird Ihr Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin die Dosierung des Arzneimittels mit Sulfonylharnstoff oder des Insulins ev. verringern.
Bei gleichzeitiger Behandlung mit Januvia und Insulin wurden zusätzlich die folgenden unerwünschten Wirkungen berichtet: Grippe, Kopfschmerzen.
Bei gleichzeitiger Behandlung mit Januvia und Metformin wurden die folgenden unerwünschten Wirkungen berichtet: Durchfall, Verdauungsstörung, Blähungen, Erbrechen, Kopfschmerzen.
Beim alleinigen Gebrauch von Januvia und/oder zusammen mit anderen Arzneimitteln zur Behandlung des Diabetes wurde über weitere unerwünschte Wirkungen berichtet: allergische Reaktionen, einschliesslich Schwellung von Gesicht, Lippen, Zunge oder Hals, verbunden mit Atem- oder Schluckproblemen, Hautausschlag und Nesselausschlag (in diesem Fall müssen Sie sofort Ihren Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin aufsuchen); Entzündung der Bauchspeicheldrüse (falls Sie starke und anhaltende Bauchschmerzen, mit oder ohne Erbrechen bekommen, sollten Sie die Behandlung mit Januvia beenden und sofort Ihren Arzt bzw. Ärztin konsultieren); Nierenprobleme (manche erfordern eine Dialyse); Infektionen des oberen Respirationstraktes; verstopfte oder laufende Nase; Halsentzündungen; Verstopfung; Erbrechen; Kopfschmerzen; Gelenkschmerzen; Muskelschmerzen; Arm- oder Beinschmerzen; Rückenschmerzen; Jucken.
Wenn Sie Nebenwirkungen bemerken, die hier nicht beschrieben sind, wenn unübliche Symptome auftauchen oder wenn bekannte Symptome anhalten oder sich verschlimmern, sollten Sie Ihren Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihre Ärztin oder Apothekerin informieren.
Bewahren Sie das Arzneimittel ausserhalb der Reichweite von Kindern auf.
Lagern Sie Januvia nicht bei Temperaturen über 30 °C. Das Arzneimittel darf nur bis zu dem auf dem Behälter mit «EXP» bezeichneten Datum verwendet werden.
