Brimonidin-Mepha Augentropfen enthalten als Wirkstoff Brimonidintartrat, das zur Stoffklasse der selektiven ?2-Rezeptor Agonisten gehört. Nach Eintropfen am Auge wird der erhöhte Augeninnendruck gesenkt.
Brimonidin-Mepha wird auf Verschreibung des Arztes oder der Ärztin zur Behandlung des erhöhten Augeninnendrucks besonders bei Patienten mit Weitwinkelglaukom (Grüner Star) angewendet.
Brimonidin-Mepha kann zur alleinigen Therapie oder als Zusatzbehandlung verwendet werden.
Es ist wichtig, dass der Augeninnendruck durch Ihren Arzt oder Ihre Ärztin regelmässig überprüft wird.
Das in Brimonidin-Mepha enthaltene Konservierungsmittel, Benzalkoniumchlorid, kann Augenreizungen verursachen. Kontaktlinsen sollen vor der Anwendung von Brimonidin-Mepha herausgenommen und erst 15 Minuten nach der Anwendung wieder eingesetzt werden.
Benzalkoniumchlorid kann zu Verfärbungen von weichen Kontaktlinsen führen, daher soll der Kontakt mit weichen Kontaktlinsen vermieden werden.
Brimonidin-Mepha soll bei Kindern von 2 bis 12 Jahren nicht angewendet werden, da die Anwendung bei dieser Altersgruppe nicht empfohlen wird. Die Sicherheit und Wirksamkeit von Brimonidin bei Kindern wurden nicht untersucht.
Brimonidin-Mepha kann Müdigkeit und/oder Schläfrigkeit, verschwommenes Sehen oder veränderte Sehstärke verursachen. Diese Wirkungen können sich in der Nacht oder bei reduziertem Tageslicht verschlechtern. Wenn solche Wirkungen bei Ihnen auftreten, sollten Sie keine Fahrzeuge lenken oder gefährliche Maschinen bedienen. Wenden Sie sich dann an Ihren Arzt oder Ihre Ärztin.
Teilen Sie Ihrem Arzt oder Ihrer Ärztin mit, wenn Sie an einer der folgenden Krankheiten leiden: schwere Herz-Kreislauf-Erkrankungen, Depressionen, Hirnleistungsstörungen, Raynaud Syndrom (Zustand einer verminderten Durchblutung der Hände und Füsse), Orthostasesyndrom (Blutdruckabfall beim Übergang vom Liegen zum Stehen), Thrombangiitis obliterans (schubweise verlaufende chronisch-entzündliche Gefässerkrankung) oder eingeschränkte Leber- oder Nierenfunktion.
Informieren Sie Ihren Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihre Ärztin oder Apothekerin, wenn Sie
Insbesondere betrifft dies Arzneimittel gegen Bluthochdruck, Herzpräparate (Herzglykoside), Beruhigungs- oder Schlafmittel, da deren Wirkungen bei gleichzeitiger Anwendung mit Brimonidin-Mepha beeinflusst werden können.
Über die Anwendung von Brimonidin in der Schwangerschaft liegen keine Erfahrungen vor. Brimonidin-Mepha soll deshalb nur mit ausdrücklicher Genehmigung Ihres Arztes oder Ihrer Ärztin angewendet werden. Orientieren Sie Ihren Arzt oder Ihre Ärztin über eine geplante oder vermutete Schwangerschaft.
Es ist nicht bekannt, ob Brimonidin beim Menschen in die Muttermilch übergeht. Während der Therapie sollte deshalb auf das Stillen verzichtet werden. Besprechen Sie dies mit Ihrem Arzt oder Ihrer Ärztin.
Wenn vom Arzt oder der Ärztin nicht anders verordnet, gelten folgende Dosierungen:
Morgens und abends je 1 Tropfen Brimonidin-Mepha in das betroffene Auge verabreichen. Der zeitliche Abstand zwischen den jeweiligen Verabreichungen soll ca. 12 Stunden betragen.
In der folgenden Anweisung ist erklärt, wie Sie Brimonidin-Mepha in das Auge tropfen sollen.
Wichtig: Sollten Sie gleichzeitig mehrere Arzneimittel am Auge anwenden, sollen Sie zwischen den jeweiligen Anwendungen 5?15 Minuten verstreichen lassen.
Falls Sie die Anwendung von Brimonidin-Mepha einmal vergessen, sollten Sie diese nicht nachholen. Fahren Sie einfach mit der nächsten Dosis zur gewohnten Zeit fort.
Falls Sie Brimonidin-Mepha versehentlich eingenommen haben, oder wenn Sie mehr Brimonidin-Mepha angewendet haben als Sie sollten, kontaktieren Sie bitte sofort Ihren Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin.
Bei Erwachsenen, welche mehr Tropfen als verschrieben eingeträufelt haben, wurden Nebenwirkungen berichtet, die bereits für Brimonidin bekannt sind.
Bei Erwachsenen, welche versehentlich Brimonidin eingenommen haben, trat eine Senkung des Blutdruckes auf. Bei einigen Patienten folgte darauf eine Erhöhung des Blutruckes. Schwerwiegende Nebenwirkungen wurden bei Kindern berichtet, welche versehentlich Brimonidin eingenommen haben. Symptome waren Schläfrigkeit, Schlappheit, niedrige Körpertemperatur, Blässe und Atemschwierigkeiten. Sollte dies auftreten, kontaktieren Sie unverzüglich Ihren Arzt oder Ihre Ärztin.
Um eine mögliche mikrobielle Verunreinigung der Augentropfen zu vermeiden, darf die Spitze der Augentropfenflasche weder mit den Händen noch mit den Augen in Berührung kommen.
Ändern Sie nicht von sich aus die verschriebene Dosierung. Wenn Sie glauben, das Arzneimittel wirke zu schwach oder zu stark, so sprechen Sie mit Ihrem Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. mit Ihrer Ärztin oder Apothekerin.
Folgende Nebenwirkungen können bei der Anwendung von Brimonidin-Mepha auftreten:
In Augenpräparaten enthaltene Wirkstoffe können in den Blutkreislauf gelangen. Nebenwirkungen können deshalb ausser am Auge auch an anderen Stellen des Körpers auftreten.
Nebenwirkungen, die am Auge auftreten können, sind: gerötetes Auge, Brennen und Stechen im Auge; verschwommenes Sehen, Fremdkörpergefühl, Bindehautfollikel, Juckreiz, erhöhte Lichtempfindlichkeit, Rötung oder Schwellung des Augenlides, Schmerzen oder Schwellung am Auge, tränendes Auge, Veränderung der Sehstärke, Bindehautentzündung mit Absonderungen, Lidrandentzündung, Hornhauterosion, Hornhautverfärbung, trockenes Auge, Ausbleichen der Bindehaut, Entzündung der Iris, verengte Pupillen und juckende Augenlider.
Weiterhin können allergische Reaktionen am Auge auftreten, die sich in Symptomen äussern können wie z.B. gerötetes Auge, gerötetes und geschwollenes Augenlid, Brennen und Stechen oder Juckreiz. Solche Reaktionen traten in den meisten Fällen zwischen dem 3. und 9. Therapiemonat auf.
Informieren Sie Ihren Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihre Ärztin oder Apothekerin über solche Reaktionen.
Nebenwirkungen, die nicht das Auge betreffen:
Folgende Nebenwirkungen können auftreten: Mundtrockenheit, Kopfschmerzen, Müdigkeit, Schläfrigkeit, Schlaflosigkeit und grippeähnliche Symptome. Wenn Sie unter Brimonidin-Mepha Augentropfen Symptome der oberen Atemwege, Schwindelgefühl, Symptome des Magen-Darmtraktes, Schwächegefühl, vorübergehende Veränderungen des Geschmacksempfindens, allergische Reaktionen, Depressionen, Nasentrockenheit, Herzklopfen, veränderter Puls, Atemnot, Bluthochdruck oder erniedrigten Blutdruck bekommen oder einen Ohnmachtsanfall hatten, Hautreaktionen, einschliesslich Rötung, Gesichtsschwelllung, Juckreiz, Hautausschlag und erweiterte Blutgefässe haben, so wenden Sie sich an Ihren Arzt oder Ihre Ärztin.
Falls eine dieser Nebenwirkungen stärker oder schwerwiegend wird, oder wenn Nebenwirkungen auftreten, die nicht in der Packungsbeilage aufgeführt sind, teilen Sie dies bitte Ihrem Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihrer Ärztin oder Apothekerin mit.
Wenn Sie Nebenwirkungen bemerken, die hier nicht beschrieben sind, sollten Sie Ihren Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihre Ärztin oder Apothekerin informieren.
Brimonidin-Mepha in der Originalverpackung, bei Raumtemperatur (15-25 °C) aufbewahren. Ausser Reichweite von Kindern aufbewahren.
Die Augentropfenflasche nach Gebrauch sofort schliessen und immer gut verschlossen halten.
Das Arzneimittel darf nur bis zu dem auf der Packung mit «EXP»
bezeichneten Datum verwendet werden.
Nach Anbruch nicht länger als 4 Wochen verwenden.
Weitere Auskünfte erteilt Ihnen Ihr Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihre Ärztin oder Apothekerin. Diese Personen verfügen über die ausführliche Fachinformation.
