Prospan Hustensaft ist ein Präparat auf pflanzlicher Basis und enthält einen standardisierten (d.h. in seiner Qualität gleichbleibenden) Auszug aus Efeublättern. Efeu besitzt schleimverflüssigende und krampflösende Eigenschaften. Prospan Hustensaft wird verwendet bei übermässiger Bildung von zähem Schleim, bei Erkältungshusten.
Prospan Hustensaft ist alkoholfrei, zuckerfrei (mit Sorbit) und ohne Farbstoffe.
Sollte der Husten länger als sieben Tage andauern, ist eine Ärztin oder ein Arzt zu konsultieren.
Dieses Arzneimittel enthält ca. 1.9 g verwertbare Kohlenhydrate pro Einzeldosis (5 ml).
Prospan Hustensaft soll nicht eingenommen werden bei Überempfindlichkeit auf einen der Inhaltsstoffe (siehe «Was ist in Prospan Hustensaft enthalten?»). Bei Kindern unter 2 Jahren nur nach ärztlicher Verordnung anwenden!
Bitte nehmen Sie Prospan Hustensaft erst nach Rücksprache mit Ihrem Arzt bzw. Ihrer Ärztin, wenn Ihnen bekannt ist, dass Sie unter einer Unverträglichkeit gegenüber bestimmten Zuckern leiden.

Aufgrund der bisherigen Erfahrungen ist bei bestimmungsgemässer Anwendung kein Risiko für das Kind bekannt. Systematische wissenschaftliche Untersuchungen wurden aber nie durchgeführt. Vorsichtshalber sollten Sie während der Schwangerschaft und Stillzeit möglichst auf Arzneimittel verzichten oder den Arzt, Apotheker oder Drogisten bzw. die Ärztin, Apothekerin oder Drogistin um Rat fragen.
Soweit nicht anders verschrieben, nehmen Kleinkinder ab 2 Jahren 3-mal täglich 2.5 ml, Schulkinder ab 6 Jahren und Jugendliche 3-mal täglich 5 ml und Erwachsene 3-mal täglich 7.5 ml Saft mittels inliegendem Messbecher ein.
Halten Sie sich an die in der Packungsbeilage angegebene oder vom Arzt oder der Ärztin verschriebene Dosierung. Wenn Sie glauben, das Arzneimittel wirke zu schwach oder zu stark, so sprechen Sie mit Ihrem Arzt, Apotheker oder Drogisten bzw. mit Ihrer Ärztin, Apothekerin oder Drogistin.
Folgende Nebenwirkungen können bei der Anwendung von Prospan Hustensaft auftreten:
Aufgrund des Sorbitgehalts kann eine abführende Wirkung auftreten.
Sehr selten können nach Einnahme von efeuhaltigen Arzneimitteln allergische Reaktionen (Atemnot, Schwellungen, Hautrötungen, Juckreiz) auftreten.
Bei empfindlichen Personen können sehr selten Magen-Darm-Beschwerden (Übelkeit, Erbrechen, Durchfall) auftreten.
Bei Auftreten von allergischen Reaktionen ist die Anwendung zu unterlassen und gegebenenfalls ein Arzt bzw. eine Ärztin zu konsultieren.
Wechselwirkungen bei gleichzeitiger Einnahme von Prospan Hustensaft und anderen Arzneimitteln sind bisher nicht bekannt geworden. Das Präparat kann daher auch mit anderen Arzneimitteln kombiniert werden.
Wenn Sie Nebenwirkungen bemerken, die hier nicht beschrieben sind, sollten Sie Ihren Arzt, Apotheker oder Drogisten bzw. Ihre Ärztin, Apothekerin oder Drogistin informieren.
Das Arzneimittel darf nur bis zu dem auf dem Behälter mit «EXP» bezeichneten Datum verwendet werden.
Bei Raumtemperatur (15-25 °C) in der Originalverpackung aufbewahren.
Das Arzneimittel ist ausserhalb der Reichweite von Kindern aufzubewahren.
Nach Öffnung der Flasche ist der Saft 3 Monate haltbar.
Die Flasche vor jedem Gebrauch gut schütteln!
Durch den Gehalt an Pflanzenextrakt können sich bei Prospan Hustensaft gelegentlich leichte Trübungen sowie geringfügige Geschmacksveränderungen ergeben, die jedoch keinen Einfluss auf die Qualität des Präparats haben.
Weitere Auskünfte erteilt Ihnen Ihr Arzt, Apotheker oder Drogist bzw. Ihre Ärztin, Apothekerin oder Drogistin.
