Sie erhielten Mogadon auf Verschreibung Ihres Arztes bzw. Ihrer Ärztin und sollten es nur gemäss deren Anweisungen einnehmen. Der Wirkstoff ist Nitrazepam und gehört zur Gruppe der Benzodiazepine. Mogadon besitzt eine ausgeprägte schlaffördernde Wirkung. Abends eingenommen, wirkt es innerhalb von 30 bis 60 Minuten und verhilft zu einem Schlaf von sechs bis acht Stunden Dauer. Ihr Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin verordnet Ihnen Mogadon, wenn Sie unter behandlungsbedürftigen Schlafstörungen leiden. Diese entstehen beispielsweise als Folge von Reizbarkeit, Überbeanspruchung, Ärger, Angst, Sorge, Spannung und Bedrückung. Kinder dürfen bei Schlafstörungen das Präparat nicht einnehmen. Mogadon hat neben seinen schlaffördernden Wirkungen auch krampflösende Eigenschaften. Seien Sie deshalb nicht erstaunt, wenn der Spezialarzt bzw. die Spezialärztin in diesen Fällen einem Kind Mogadon in höheren Dosen verschreibt.
Wenn Sie sich am Tag nach der Einnahme noch benommen oder matt fühlen, so war wahrscheinlich die eingenommene Menge für Sie zu gross. Vor allem ältere Menschen reagieren oft stärker auf Schlafmittel. Sollten Sie eine derartige Feststellung machen, lassen Sie sich von Ihrem Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. von Ihrer Ärztin oder Apothekerin beraten.
Mogadon darf nicht angewendet werden bei
Vor dem Einsatz von Mogadon als Schlafmittel sollte eine ausführliche ärztliche Untersuchung durchgeführt und der Grund für die Schlaflosigkeit ermittelt werden.
Nach der Einnahme über einige Wochen kann ein gewisser Verlust der schlaffördernden Wirkung eintreten.
Die Einnahme von Mogadon kann - wie bei allen benzodiazepinhaltigen Präparaten - zu einer Abhängigkeit führen. Diese kann vor allem bei einer ununterbrochenen Einnahme über längere Zeit (in gewissen Fällen bereits nach einigen Wochen) sowie bei der Einnahme einer höheren Dosis auftreten. Das Risiko ist bei Alkoholismus, Drogenmissbrauch und gewissen psychiatrischen Erkrankungen erhöht.
Um das Risiko der Entwicklung einer Abhängigkeit möglichst klein zu halten, beachten Sie bitte folgende Hinweise:
Das abrupte Absetzen des Arzneimittels kann, auch wenn das Arzneimittel nur während einer kurzen Zeit und in einer normalen Dosierung eingenommen wurde, Entzugssymptome zur Folge haben. Es können dann Depression, Kopfschmerzen, Konzentrationsschwäche, Muskelschwäche, Nervosität, aussergewöhnliche Angst, Spannungszustände, Zittern, Ruhelosigkeit, Verwirrung, Stimmungsveränderungen, Schlaflosigkeit, Reizbarkeit, Schwitzen, Durchfall, Muskel- und Bauchkrämpfe, Wahrnehmungsstörungen sowie selten Wahnvorstellungen und Krampfanfälle auftreten. In schweren Fällen können auch eine verfremdete Wahrnehmung der Umwelt, Verlust des Persönlichkeitsgefühls, Taubheit und Kribbeln in Armen und Beinen, Überempfindlichkeit gegenüber Licht, Geräuschen und körperlichem Kontakt, Halluzinationen und epileptische Anfälle auftreten. Diese Erscheinungen klingen in der Regel nach zwei bis drei Wochen ab.
Bei Abbruch der Behandlung können vorübergehend die ursprünglichen Symptome, die zu einer Behandlung mit Mogadon führten, in verstärkter Form erneut auftreten. Sie können von weiteren Reaktionen wie Stimmungswechsel, Angstgefühlen und Unruhe begleitet sein. Ein abruptes Abbrechen der Behandlung erhöht das Risiko für Entzugssymptome oder verstärktes Wiederauftreten der Schlaflosigkeit. Daher wird eine schrittweise Verminderung der Dosis empfohlen.
Benzodiazepine können Gedächtnislücken für den Zeitraum nach der Einnahme verursachen. Der Zustand tritt üblicherweise einige Stunden nach der Einnahme auf und kann mehrere Stunden andauern. Das bedeutet, dass Sie nach Einnahme des Arzneimittels unter Umständen Dinge tun, an die Sie sich später nicht mehr erinnern können. Dieses Risiko steigt mit der Höhe der Dosierung und wenn Sie zusätzlich Alkohol konsumieren. Eine ausreichend lange, ununterbrochene Schlafdauer (7?8 Stunden) kann dieses Risiko verringern. Wenn Sie zum Zeitpunkt, an welchem das Arzneimittel am stärksten wirkt, aufgeweckt werden, kann das Erinnerungsvermögen eingeschränkt sein.
Bei der Anwendung von Benzodiazepinen kann es, insbesondere bei älteren Patienten oder Kindern, zu psychiatrischen sowie sogenannten «paradoxen» Reaktionen, d.h. der eigentlich beabsichtigten Wirkung des Arzneimittels entgegengesetzten Reaktionen kommen, wie z.B. Aggressivität, Aufregung, Verwirrung, Unruhe, Reizbarkeit, Erregbarkeit, Wahnvorstellungen, Wutausbrüche, Albträume, Halluzinationen, Psychosen, unangemessenes Verhalten und andere Verhaltensstörungen. Es können auch bereits vorbestehende Depressionen mit suizidalen Tendenzen aufgedeckt werden. In solchen Fällen sollte die Behandlung mit diesem Arzneimittel beendet werden.
Der Wechsel von einem Benzodiazepin-haltigen Arzneimittel zu einem anderen darf nur auf ärztliche Verordnung vorgenommen werden.
Informieren Sie Ihren Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin über allfällige Herz-, Atemwegs-, Nieren- oder Lebererkrankungen sowie wenn bei Ihnen eine Alkohol-, Arzneimittel- oder Drogenabhängigkeit besteht oder früher bestand.
Aufgrund der entspannenden Wirkung auf die Muskeln kann das Risiko für Stürze und in der Folge von Knochenbrüchen erhöht sein, besonders bei älteren Menschen, die in der Nacht aufstehen.
Teilen Sie Ihrem Arzt bzw. Ihrer Ärztin mit, wenn bei Ihnen eine Unverträglichkeit auf bestimmte Zuckerarten besteht (Lactose-Intoleranz).
Dieses Arzneimittel kann die Reaktionsfähigkeit, die Fahrtüchtigkeit und die Fähigkeit Werkzeuge oder Maschinen zu bedienen, beeinträchtigen! Bei ungenügender Schlafdauer ist das Risiko einer eingeschränkten Wachsamkeit zusätzlich erhöht.
Während einer Behandlung mit Benzodiazepinen, einschliesslich Mogadon, können bereits bestehende Depressionen zum Vorschein kommen oder sich verschlimmern. Falls Sie an einer Depression leiden, dürfen Sie Mogadon nur dann einnehmen, wenn die Symptome dieser Depression mit den dafür passenden Arzneimitteln behandelt werden.
Alkoholische Getränke sowie Arzneimittel mit einer beruhigenden, schlaffördernden (sedierenden) Wirkung (z.B. Beruhigungsmittel, Schlafmittel, Mittel gegen Depressionen, Arzneimittel bei psychischen Erkrankungen (Antipsychotika), angstlösende Arzneimittel, verschiedene Schmerzmittel, Mittel gegen Allergien und andere auf Gehirn und Nerven wirkende Präparate, Arzneimittel gegen Schlafkrankheit, Bluthochdruck und Betablocker sowie Muskel-entspannende Medikamente können die Wirkung von Mogadon möglicherweise verstärken. Die individuellen Reaktionen sind nicht vorhersehbar. Das kann unter anderem dazu führen, dass Sie unsorgfältig, unbeholfen oder langsam reagieren. Die Kombination mit Alkohol und/oder solchen Arzneimitteln kann auch zu einer zu starken Beruhigung bis hin zu einem schlafähnlichen Zustand sowie zu einer Beeinträchtigung (bis hin zur Unterdrückung) der Atmung und/oder des Herz-Kreislaufsystems führen. Verzichten Sie deshalb am besten ganz auf alkoholische Getränke und nehmen Sie gleichzeitig keine anderen Arzneimittel mit einer dämpfenden Wirkung auf Gehirn und Nerven ein, wenn Sie Mogadon als Schlafmittel einnehmen müssen ? es sei denn, Ihr Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin sei damit einverstanden oder habe es Ihnen so verordnet.
Die gleichzeitige Einnahme von Baldrian kann die Wirkung von Mogadon verstärken oder vermindern.
Die Kombination mit starken Schmerzmitteln (z.B. Opiaten) kann zu einem verstärkten überschwänglichen Hochgefühl und damit zu einer schnelleren psychischen Abhängigkeit führen.
Auch andere Wirkstoffe können die Wirkung von Benzodiazepinen und Benzodiazepin-ähnlichen Wirkstoffen verstärken. Beispiele hierfür sind Arzneimittel gegen Pilzerkrankungen (Azol-Antimykotika), Arzneimittel gegen Magenübersäuerung (z.B. Cimetidin, Omeprazol), Arzneimittel gegen HIV (antiretrovirale Proteasehemmer) Verhütungsmittel («Antibabypille») oder Antibiotika wie Erythromycin, Arzneimittel gegen Bluthochdruck oder Angina pectoris (sogenannte Kalziumkanalblocker), Antidepressiva (selektive Serotoninwiederaufnahmehemmer), Arzneimittel, die bei Alkoholabhängigkeit angewendet werden (wie Disulfiram) oder Antiepileptika (wie Valproinsäure, Topiramat, Hydantoin, Barbiturate).
Bestimmte Arzneimittel gegen schwere Infektionskrankheiten, wie z.B. Tuberkulose (Rifampicin), oder auch Arzneimittel gegen Asthma oder «Raucherlunge» (chronisch obstruktive Lungenerkrankung), sowie solche, die Johanniskraut enthalten, können die Wirkung oder die Wirkungsdauer von Benzodiazepinen vermindern.

Informieren Sie Ihren Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin, wenn Sie schwanger sind, planen schwanger zu werden oder stillen.
Wenn Sie schwanger sind oder es werden möchten, dürfen Sie Mogadon nur einnehmen, wenn der Arzt bzw. die Ärztin es Ihnen ausdrücklich verschreibt.
Mogadon tritt in die Muttermilch über. Während der Stillzeit müssen Sie auf die Einnahme von Mogadon verzichten.
Erwachsene: In der Regel 1 Tablette abends vor dem Schlafengehen.
Bei älteren Menschen, Leichtgewichtigen sowie bei besonders Empfindlichen genügt in der Regel die halbe Dosis (½ Tablette).
Bei Vorliegen von Erkrankungen im Gehirn sollten ältere Menschen nicht mehr als eine Tablette Mogadon zu 5 mg pro Tag einnehmen.
Die Tabletten können Sie zerkauen, ganz oder in Flüssigkeit gelöst einnehmen.
Kinder mit Krampfleiden (Epilepsie): Der Spezialarzt bzw. die Spezialärztin bestimmt in jedem Fall, ob Mogadon angebracht ist und legt auch die für Ihr Kind geeignete Dosierung fest. Sie darf ohne Rücksprache mit dem Arzt bzw. der Ärztin nicht abgeändert werden.
Ändern Sie nicht von sich aus die verschriebene Dosierung. Wenn Sie glauben, das Arzneimittel wirke zu schwach oder zu stark, so sprechen Sie mit Ihrem Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. mit Ihrer Ärztin oder Apothekerin.
Häufig: Gemütsstörungen Verwirrtheit, Depressionen (Aufdecken einer vorbestehenden Depression), Benommenheit, Kopfschmerzen, Schwindel, Gedächtnisstörungen, Doppeltsehen, Atmungsschwierigkeiten, verstärkte Schleimbildung in den Bronchien, Muskelschwäche (dadurch kann die Gefahr für Stürze erhöht sein), Harnverhalten oder unkontrollierter, unwillkürlicher Abgang von Urin, Müdigkeit.
Gelegentlich: Delirium, Schlafstörungen, Beeinträchtigung der Denkleistung, Gleichgewichtsstörungen, Bewegungsstörungen, Zittern, Störungen der Bewegungskoordination.
Selten: Veränderungen des Blutbildes, allergische Hautreaktionen, Veränderungen des Sexualtriebes, Abhängigkeit, Entzugserscheinungen, Stimmungsveränderungen, Angst, Unruhe, Arzneimittelmissbrauch, Erregung, Aggressivität, Wahnvorstellungen, Wut, Albträume, Halluzinationen, psychotische Störungen, Epilepsie, Drehschwindel, Sehstörungen, tiefer Blutdruck, Übelkeit, Bauchschmerzen, Durchfall, Mundtrockenheit, Verstopfung, vermehrter Speichelfluss, Magen-Darm-Störungen, Störungen der Leberfunktion, Gelbsucht, Hautausschläge, Nesselfieber, Juckreiz, Hautentzündung, Muskelkrämpfe, Reizbarkeit, verstärktes Wiederauftreten von Anfangssymptomen nach Absetzen der Behandlung.
Selten können auch schwerwiegende allergische, entzündliche Haut- und Schleimreaktionen auftreten (Ausschlag und Blasen z.B. an Händen, Füssen, Armen, Mund, Nase und Genitalien), die auch von einer starken Beeinträchtigung des Allgemeinbefindens und Fieber begleitet sein können. Sehr selten kann es auch zu Überempfindlichkeitsreaktionen, anaphylaktischen Reaktionen, Angioödem (Schwellung der Haut und/oder Schleimhäute) kommen. In diesen Fällen muss die Behandlung sofort abgebrochen und ein Arzt bzw. eine Ärztin konsultiert werden.
Häufigkeit unbekannt: Unter Behandlung mit Mogadon wurden Störungen des Sprechens beobachtet.
Wenn Sie Nebenwirkungen bemerken, die hier nicht beschrieben sind, sollten Sie Ihren Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihre Ärztin oder Apothekerin informieren.
Das Arzneimittel darf nur bis zu dem auf dem Behälter mit «EXP» bezeichneten Datum verwendet werden.
Bei Raumtemperatur (15-25 °C) und für Kinder unzugänglich aufbewahren.
