Übelkeit und Erbrechen sind bekannte unerwünschte Wirkungen einer Krebsbehandlung.
Die Ursache der Nebenwirkung liegt in der Freisetzung der chemischen Überträgersubstanz (Transmitter) Serotonin. Dadurch werden Bindungsstellen (Rezeptoren) für Serotonin aktiviert. Dies führt zur Anregung des Brechzentrums. Sobald ein Schwellenwert der Anregung erreicht ist, wird der Brechreflex ausgelöst.
Der Wirkstoff von Kytril, Granisetron, blockiert die Serotoninrezeptoren und verhindert Übelkeit und Erbrechen.
Kytril wird, ausschliesslich auf ärztliche Verordnung, zur Vorbeugung von Übelkeit und Erbrechen, hervorgerufen durch eine Krebsbehandlung, angewendet.
Kytril darf nicht zur Behandlung von Brechreiz und Erbrechen verwendet werden, die aus einem anderen als aus dem oben erwähnten Grund auftreten.
Sie sollten Kytril nicht einnehmen, wenn Sie früher überempfindlich auf Kytril reagiert haben.
Eine Überempfindlichkeit zeigt sich in Symptomen wie roten Hautflecken, Fieber oder einer schmerzhaften Zunge.
Dieses Arzneimittel kann die Reaktionsfähigkeit, die Fähigkeit Werkzeuge oder Maschinen zu bedienen und die Fahrtüchtigkeit beeinträchtigen.
Teilen Sie Ihrem Arzt bzw. Ihrer Ärztin mit, wenn Sie Anzeichen einer Darmverstopfung bemerkt haben.
Die Kytril-Filmtabletten enthalten Milchzucker (Laktose). Sie sollten das Arzneimittel nicht einnehmen, wenn Sie an gewissen erblichen Störungen des Stoffwechsels von Zuckern leiden.
Vorsicht ist auch geboten, wenn Sie Kytril in Kombination mit Arzneimittel einnehmen, die zu einer Erhöhung von biologischen Übermittlersubstanzen wie z.B. Serotonin oder Serotonin-ähnlich wirkender Substanzen führen. Dazu gehören z.B. bestimmte Typen von Arzneimitteln gegen Depression (z.B. mit den Wirkstoffen Clomipramin, Fluoxetin, Paroxetin, Sertralin, Fluvoxamin, Citalopram oder Johanniskraut), gewisse Schmerzmittel (z.B. mit den Wirkstoffen Tramadol oder Fentanyl), gewisse Arzneimittel gegen Migräne (sogenannte Triptane) und andere Arzneimittel mit Wirkstoffen wie L-Tryptophan, Lithium, Linezolid.
Kytril Filmtabletten dürfen Kindern nicht verabreicht werden, da zurzeit zu wenig Erfahrungen vorliegen.

Wenn Sie schwanger sind oder es werden möchten, sollen Sie vorsichtshalber auf Arzneimittel verzichten und Kytril nur nach Rücksprache mit Ihrem Arzt oder Ihrer Ärztin einnehmen.
Während einer Behandlung mit Kytril sollte nicht gestillt werden.
Sofern vom Arzt bzw. von der Ärztin nicht anders verordnet, gilt folgende Dosierung:
Vorbeugung gegen Erbrechen und Brechreiz, hervorgerufen durch eine Krebsbehandlung:
2-mal täglich 1 Filmtablette zu 1 mg Kytril oder 1-mal täglich 1 Filmtablette zu 2 mg, während und bis zu einer Woche nach Ende der Krebsbehandlung.
Die erste Filmtablette Kytril sollte innerhalb einer Stunde vor dem Beginn der Krebsbehandlung eingenommen werden.
Für ältere Patienten und Patienten mit Leber- oder Nierenfunktionsstörungen gelten ebenfalls die oben beschriebenen Empfehlungen.
Dosisempfehlungen für Kinder sind zurzeit nicht möglich.
Ändern Sie nicht von sich aus die verschriebene Dosierung. Wenn Sie glauben, das Arzneimittel wirke zu schwach oder zu stark, so sprechen Sie mit Ihrem Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. mit Ihrer Ärztin oder Apothekerin.
Folgende Nebenwirkungen können bei der Einnahme von Kytril auftreten:
Wie bei andern Arzneimitteln dieser Klasse beobachtet, können auch bei Kytril Kopfschmerzen und Verstopfung als hauptsächliche Nebenwirkungen auftreten. Diese sind jedoch meist milder Natur und führen selten zu einem Therapieabbruch.
Häufig ist ein vorübergehender Anstieg bestimmter Leberwerte beobachtet worden.
Gelegentlich ist das Auftreten grippeartiger Symptome mit Fieber und Schüttelfrost sowie Verstopfung, Überempfindlichkeitsreaktionen oder ein sogenanntes Serotonin-Syndrom möglich. Das Serotonin-Syndrom wird durch hohe Serotoninmengen im Körper hervorgerufen und verursacht ernsthafte Veränderungen der Funktionen im Gehirn, in den Muskeln und im Verdauungstrakt. Es kann sich durch Symptome wie z.B. übermässige Reflexe, Zittern, Bewusstseinsverlust, Muskelkrämpfe, Unruhe, Angst, Wahnvorstellungen, Reizbarkeit, Delirium und Koma, schneller Puls, rasche Veränderungen des Blutdruckes, erhöhte Körpertemperatur, Übelkeit, Erbrechen und Durchfall bemerkbar machen. Benachrichtigen Sie unverzüglich Ihren Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin, falls solche oder ähnliche Symptome auftreten.
Gelegentlich kann es zu Hautausschlägen und zu Wasseransammlungen im Gewebe (Ödeme), besonders im Gesicht, kommen.
Gelegentlich wurde über Blutdruckabfall sowie Herzrhythmusstörungen wie auch Veränderungen im EKG berichtet.
Wenn Sie Nebenwirkungen bemerken, die hier nicht beschrieben sind, sollten Sie Ihren Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihre Ärztin oder Apothekerin informieren.
Das Arzneimittel darf nur bis zu dem auf dem Behälter mit «EXP» bezeichneten Datum verwendet werden.
Das Arzneimittel ist nicht über 30 °C zu lagern und für Kinder unerreichbar aufzubewahren. Weitere Auskünfte erteilt Ihnen Ihr Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihre Ärztin oder Apothekerin. Diese Personen verfügen über die ausführliche Fachinformation.
Kytril wird in der Form von Filmtabletten vertrieben, welche 1 mg bzw. 2 mg Granisetron als Wirkstoff sowie Hilfsstoffe zur Tablettenherstellung enthalten. Die Kytril Filmtabletten sind laktosehaltig.
