Erythrocin enthält das Antibiotikum Erythromycin. Erythromycin gehört zur Gruppe der sogenannten Makrolide und dient der Behandlung von Infektionen durch Erreger, die auf Erythromycin empfindlich sind, wie
-Infektionen im Hals-, Nasen- und Ohrenbereich wie z.B. Hals- oder Mandelentzündung, Diphtherie und Scharlach;
-Infektionen der unteren Atemwege wie z.B. Lungenentzündungen, Keuchhusten;
-Infektionen der Haut wie z.B. Akne, Wundrose;
-Infektionen der Geschlechtsorgane wie z.B. Harnröhrenentzündung.
Erythrocin darf nur auf Verschreibung eines Arztes bzw. einer Ärztin eingenommen werden.
Dieses Arzneimittel wurde Ihnen von Ihrem Arzt bzw. Ihrer Ärztin zur Behandlung Ihrer gegenwärtigen Erkrankung verschrieben.
Das Antibiotikum in Erythrocin ist nicht gegen alle Mikroorganismen, welche Infektionskrankheiten verursachen, wirksam. Die Anwendung eines falsch gewählten oder nicht richtig dosierten Antibiotikums kann Komplikationen verursachen. Wenden Sie es deshalb nie von sich aus für die Behandlung anderer Erkrankungen oder anderer Personen an.
In folgenden Fällen dürfen Sie Erythrocin nicht einnehmen:
-wenn Sie überempfindlich auf den Wirkstoff Erythromycin oder auf andere Makrolid-Antibiotika sind. Eine Überempfindlichkeit äussert sich z.B. durch Asthma, Atemnot, Kreislaufbeschwerden, Schwellungen der Haut (z.B. Nesselfieber) und Schleimhäute oder Hautausschläge.
-wenn Sie an schweren Leberfunktionsstörungen leiden.
-wenn Sie an Herzrhythmusstörungen (QT-Intervallverlängerung) leiden: Erythrocin kann vorübergehend eine bestimmte Veränderung des EKGs (Elektrokardiogramm) verursachen, die sehr selten zu einer lebensbedrohlichen Herzrhythmusstörung führen kann. Erythromycin sollte bei Patienten mit bekannter Verlängerung des QT-Intervalls nicht angewendet werden.
-wenn Sie gleichzeitig Medikamente einnehmen, welche zu einer QT-Intervallverlängerung (Herzrhythmusstörungen) führen können: Teilen Sie Ihrem Arzt bzw. Ihrer Ärztin deshalb mit, wenn Sie andere Medikamente einnehmen oder anwenden.
-wenn Sie Arzneimittel mit den Wirkstoffen Ergotamin oder Dihydroergotamin einnehmen: Erythromycin soll nicht gleichzeitig mit Mitteln gegen Migräne eingenommen werden, die die Wirkstoffe Ergotamin oder Dihydroergotamin enthalten, da es zu Durchblutungsstörungen kommen kann.
-wenn Sie Arzneimittel zur Senkung Ihrer Blutfette HMG-CoA-Reduktasehemmer (Statine wie Lovastatin oder Simvastatin) einnehmen.
-wenn Sie Arzneimittel gegen Allergien (Antihistaminika mit den Wirkstoffen Astemizol und Terfenadin) einnehmen.
-wenn Sie Arzneimittel zur Förderung der Magen-Darm-Tätigkeit (mit dem Wirkstoff Cisaprid) einnehmen.
-wenn Sie Präparate gegen Stimmungsschwankungen (mit dem Wirkstoff Pimozid) einnehmen.
-Wenn Sie zu Arrhythmien (Herzrhythmusstörungen) neigen, z.B. durch unbehandelte Hypokaliämie (niedriger Kaliumblutspiegel) oder Hypomagnesiämie (niedriger Magnesiumblutspiegel), bei Bradykardie (Herzschlag unter 60 Schläge pro Minute), wenn Sie Antiarrhythmika der Klasse IA (Chinidin, Procainamid) oder Klasse III (Dofetilid, Amiodaron, Sotalol) erhalten oder bestimmte Neuroleptika (Mittel zur Behandlung zerebraler Krämpfe), Tri- und tetrazyklische Antidepressiva (Mittel gegen Stimmungsschwankungen), Antibiotika (einige Fluorchinolone), Imidazol-Antimykotika, Antimalariamittel, Mittel gegen Krebserkrankungen (z.B. Arsentrioxid), oder z.B. Methadon und Budipin einnehmen oder wenn die Durchblutung Ihres Herzmuskels beeinträchtigt ist, sprechen Sie bitte mit Ihrem Arzt oder Ihrer Ärztin, bevor Sie Erythrocin anwenden, da dies das Risiko für Herzrhythmusstörungen erhöhen kann.
-Sie müssen Ihren Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin informieren, falls Sie ein Leber- oder Nierenleiden haben, unter Porphyrie leiden, wenn Sie an Myasthenia gravis leiden, einer seltenen Erkrankung, die eine Muskelschwäche verursacht, oder andere Arzneimittel (auch selbstgekaufte!) einnehmen!
-Ihr Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin muss die Dosierung überprüfen, wenn Sie bereits folgende Arzneimittel einnehmen oder anwenden:
-Asthmapräparate mit dem Wirkstoff Theophyllin;
-Präparate gegen Epilepsie oder Nervenschmerzen mit den Wirkstoffen Carbamazepin, Phenytoin oder Valproinsäure;
-Präparate mit den Wirkstoffen Digoxin, Disopyramid oder Chinidin gegen Herzkrankheiten;
-Präparate mit den Wirkstoffen Ciclosporin oder Tacrolimus zur Blockierung der natürlichen Abwehrmechanismen und Überempfindlichkeitsreaktionen;
-Bestimmte Arzneimittel, die zur Behandlung der HIV-Infektion oder anderen viralen Infektionen eingesetzt werden; Saquinavir, Ritonavir, Indinavir, Nelfinavir, Amprenavir;
-Präparate mit dem Wirkstoff Omeprazol oder Cimetidin zur Verhinderung der Magensäureproduktion;
-Präparate mit dem Wirkstoff Bromocriptin, die z.B. bei Schüttellähmung (Parkinsonsche Krankheit) und Menstruationsstörungen verabreicht werden;
-Präparate gegen Infektionen, die das Antibiotikum Lincomycin, Clindamycin, Chloramphenicol, Streptomycin, Penicillin, Cephalosporin, Tetracyclin, Clarithromycin, Colistin, Rifampicin oder das Antibiotikum Rifabutin enthalten;
-Kortikosteroide, z.B. Methylprednisolon (Mittel, um das körpereigene Immunsystem zu unterdrücken);
-Arzneimittel gegen Gicht (Wirkstoff: Colchizin);
-Schlafmittel auf der Basis von Midazolam. Hexobarbital, Alprazolam, Zopiclon und Triazolam;
-Gerinnungshemmende Arzneistoffe wie Warfarin oder Acenocumarol (Es scheint, dass bei gleichzeitiger Gabe von Antibiotika und gerinnungshemmenden Arzneimitteln die Blutgerinnungszeit verlängert sein kann.);
-Alfetanil, ein Medikament zur Schmerzlinderung;
-Cilostazol (Mittel zur Verbesserung der Durchblutung in den Beinen);
-Verapamil, Felodipin (Mittel zur Behandlung von Bluthochdruck und Brustschmerzen);
-Vinblastin (Mittel zur Behandlung von bestimmten Krebsarten);
-Sildenafil (Mittel zur Behandlung von Erektionsstörungen);
-Johanniskraut (Arzneimittel zur Behandlung von Depressionen);
-Terfenadin (Arzneimittel zur Behandlung von Allergien);
-Fluconazol, Ketoconazol und Itraconazol (Arzneimittel zur Behandlung von Pilzinfektionen).
Gewisse Antibiotika können in seltenen Fällen die Wirkung von oralen Kontrazeptiva herabsetzen. Frauen, die Erythrocin einnehmen, sollten deshalb andere, zusätzliche Verhütungsmethoden anwenden.
Bitte informieren Sie Ihren Arzt bzw Ihre Ärztin unverzüglich,
- wenn unter der Therapie Symptome wie Herzklopfen oder Herzrasen, Schwindel oder kurze Bewusstlosigkeit auftreten, die Zeichen von Herzrhythmusstörungen sein können.
- wenn sich Anzeichen und Symptome einer Lebererkrankung wie Appetitlosigkeit, Gelbsucht, Dunkelfärbung des Urins, Juckreiz oder Druckempfindlichkeit des Bauches entwickeln.
- wenn Sie unter Nierenproblemen leiden.
- wenn Anzeichen einer Überempfindlichkeitsreaktion wie z.B. Hautausschlag, Gesichts-, Gefäss- und Kehlkopfschwellungen (Ödeme) und Atemnot auftreten. Diese können sich sehr selten bis hin zum lebensbedrohlichen Schock (anaphylaktische/anaphylaktoide Reaktionen) entwickeln.
- wenn Sehstörungen auftreten: nach Einnahme von Erythromycin kann es zu Sehstörungen kommen. Bei einigen Patienten kann eine bereits bestehende und genetisch bedingte Funktionsstörung in dem Mitochondrien-Stoffwechsel wie z.B. Leber'sche Hereditäre Optikusneuropathie (LHON) und Autosomal dominante Optikusatrophie (adOA) dazu beitragen.
- wenn Sie an schweren Durchfällen leiden: bei Auftreten von schweren, anhaltenden, manchmal blutig-schleimigen Durchfällen und krampfartigen Bauchschmerzen während oder bis zu 10 Wochen nach der Therapie suchen Sie bitte umgehend Ihren Arzt bzw Ihre Ärztin auf, weil sich dahinter eine ernst zu nehmende schwere Schleimhautentzündung des Darmes (pseudomembranöse Enterokolitis) verbergen kann, die sofort behandelt werden muss. Präparate, die die Darmbewegung (Darmperistaltik) hemmen, dürfen nicht eingenommen werden.
- wenn Sie unter der Behandlung mit Erythrocin irgendeine Verstärkung der Krankheitszeichen Ihrer Myasthenia gravis bemerken.
- bei Auftreten von Hörstörungen.
Informieren Sie Ihren Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihre Ärztin oder Apothekerin, wenn Sie an anderen Krankheiten leiden, Allergien haben oder andere Arzneimittel (auch selbstgekaufte!) einnehmen oder äusserlich anwenden.
Wenn Sie schwanger sind, es werden möchten oder stillen, dürfen Sie Erythromycin nur nach Rücksprache mit Ihrem Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihrer Ärztin oder Apothekerin anwenden.
Erythrocin muss gemäss den Anweisungen Ihres Arztes bzw. Ihrer Ärztin eingenommen werden. Die Dosierung muss individuell, je nach Körpergewicht und Schweregrad der Krankheit, durch den Arzt bzw. die Ärztin angepasst werden.
Durchschnittlich empfohlene Tagesdosen
Granulat 500 mg in Sachet
Kinder 5?12 Jahre: 2?3× täglich 1 Sachet.
Kinder ab 12 Jahren/Erwachsene: 3× täglich 1 Sachet.
Granulat 1000 mg in Sachet
Kinder ab 12 Jahren/Erwachsene: 2× täglich 1 Sachet.
Filmtab ES (Filmtabletten)
Kinder ab 12 Jahren/Erwachsene: 3× täglich 1 oder 2× täglich 2 Filmtabletten.
Bei schweren Infekten kann die Tagesdosis für Erwachsene gemäss Verordnung des Arztes bzw. der Ärztin erhöht werden.
Die von Erythrocin erhältlichen galenischen Formen (Sachets und Filmtabletten) sind nicht zur Behandlung von Säuglingen und Kindern unter 5 Jahren geeignet.
Ändern Sie nicht von sich aus die verschriebene Dosierung. Wenn Sie glauben, das Arzneimittel wirke zu schwach oder zu stark, so sprechen Sie mit Ihrem Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. mit Ihrer Ärztin oder Apothekerin.
Granulat 500 mg und 1000 mg in Sachets
Sachet-Inhalt in ein Glas mit wenig Leitungswasser geben, sofort umrühren. 1 Minute warten. Das Granulat löst sich schnell auf.
Einnahme von Erythrocin
Die Einnahme von Erythrocin wird auf 2?3 Gaben pro Tag verteilt. Die aus dem Granulat zubereitete Suspension sowie die Filmtabletten sollen nüchtern, mindestens 1 Stunde vor den Mahlzeiten eingenommen werden. Die Filmtabletten mit etwas Flüssigkeit unzerkaut einnehmen.
Behandlungsdauer
Die Behandlungsdauer beträgt 7?21 Tage, je nach Art der Infektion. Sollte Ihre Krankheit es erfordern, so kann Ihr Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin Erythrocin evtl. auch für längere Zeit verschreiben.
Eine begonnene Antibiotikatherapie sollte so lange wie vom Arzt bzw. von der Ärztin verordnet durchgeführt werden. Die Krankheitssymptome verschwinden oft, bevor die Infektion vollständig ausgeheilt ist. Eine ungenügende Anwendungsdauer oder ein zu frühes Beenden der Behandlung kann ein erneutes Aufflammen der Erkrankung zur Folge haben.
Folgende Nebenwirkungen können bei der Einnahme von Erythrocin auftreten:
Gelegentlich (kann 1 bis zu 10 von 1'000 Personen betreffen)
Allergische Reaktionen (Hautrötung, Juckreiz, Nesselausschlag), Appetitlosigkeit (Anorexie), Übelkeit, Erbrechen, Bauchschmerzen, Blähungen, Durchfall, Bauchkrämpfe, Pilzinfektionen (oral und vaginal), Leberschwellung und/oder Leberentzündung, Gelbsucht (Bauchschmerzen, Appetitlosigkeit, Müdigkeit oder eine Gelbverfärbung der Haut oder Augen).
Selten (kann 1 bis zu 10 von 10'000 Personen betreffen)
QT-Intervall Verlängerung, gefährliche Herzrhythmusstörungen (z. B: Unregelmässiger Herzschlag, unnormales Herzschlagen und Herzjagen).
Schwere allergische Reaktionen bis hin zum Anaphylaktischen Schock (Jede plötzliche Kurzatmigkeit, Atemnot, Schwellungen der Augenlider, des Gesichts oder der Lippen, Hautausschlag oder Juckreiz (besonders den ganzen Körper betreffend) sollten sofort einem Arzt gemeldet werden).
Arzneimittelfieber (Fieber in Abwesenheit einer Infektion), Schwellung der Gelenke, Albträume, Psychosen, niedriger Blutdruck (Hypotonie), Muskelschwäche (Myasthenia gravis), Schwellung / Spannung / Schmerzen in Muskeln, Ohrengeräusche (Tinnitus) oder Hörverlust.
Bei Kindern kann eine Magenausgangsstenose (Einengung des Magenausganges) hervorgerufen werden (Erbrechen, Bauchschmerzen), schwere Entzündung der Darmschleimhaut (Pseudomembranöse Colitis), Bauchspeicheldrüsenentzündung, Blasenbildung / Ablösen der Haut durch schwere allergische Reaktionen (Steven Johnson Syndrome; toxische epidermale Nekrolyse), Nierenerkrankungen.
Bei Auftreten der genannten Nebenwirkungen konsultieren Sie umgehend Ihren Arzt oder Ihre Ärztin.
Nicht bekannt (Häufigkeit auf Grundlage der verfügbaren Daten nicht abschätzbar)
Verschwommenes Sehen und / oder Doppeltsehen, Atemlosigkeit, Kopfschmerzen, Verwirrtheit, Fieber, Epileptische Anfälle, Schläfrigkeit, Schwindel, Halluzination (Hören, Sehen, Fühlen, Riechen und Schmecken von Dingen, die nicht vorhanden sind).
Sollten unerwünschte Wirkungen länger andauern oder ernsterer Art sein (vgl. auch Rubrik «Wann ist bei der Einnahme von Erythrocin Vorsicht geboten?»), so konsultieren Sie umgehend Ihren Arzt oder Ihre Ärztin.
Wenn Sie Nebenwirkungen bemerken, die hier nicht beschrieben sind, sollten Sie Ihren Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihre Ärztin oder Apothekerin informieren.
Hinweis für Diabetiker
Die Sachets enthalten 3,6 g (Sachet zu 500 mg) bzw. 7,2 g (Sachet zu 1000 mg) Saccharose pro Sachet und sind deshalb zur Behandlung von diabetischen Patienten nicht geeignet.
Das trockene Präparat (Granulat) in den Sachets sowie die Filmtabletten sind in der verschlossenen Originalpackung bei Raumtemperatur (15?25 °C) und vor Kinderhand geschützt aufzubewahren.
Das Arzneimittel darf nur bis zu dem auf dem Behälter mit «EXP» bezeichneten Datum verwendet werden.
Nach Beendigung der Behandlung das Arzneimittel mit dem restlichen Inhalt Ihrer Abgabestelle (Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ärztin oder Apothekerin) zur fachgerechten Entsorgung bringen.

Erythrocin-Granulat enthält Natrium.
12 mg Natrium pro ml Suspension (entspricht 60 mg pro 5 ml-Dosis). Dies ist bei der Verschreibung an Patienten mit natriumarmer Diät zu beachten.

Granulat 1000 mg in Sachets: 1 Sachet enthält 1000 mg Erythromycin.
Filmtab ES 500 mg: 1 Filmtab (Filmtablette) enthält 500 mg Erythromycin.
Hilfsstoffe
Granulat 500 mg in Sachets: 1 Sachet enthält Saccharin, Saccharum 3,6 g (entsprechend 61,8 kJ [14,8 kcal] oder 3,6 g verwertbaren Kohlenhydraten), Aromastoffe: Vanillin und andere, und weitere Hilfsstoffe.
Granulat 1000 mg in Sachets: 1 Sachet enthält Saccharin, Saccharum 7,2 g (entsprechend 123,6 kJ [29,5 kcal] oder 7,2 g verwertbaren Kohlenhydraten), Aromastoffe: Vanillin und andere, und weitere Hilfsstoffe.
Filmtab ES 500 mg: 1 Filmtab (Filmtablette) enthält den Farbstoff Chinolingelb (E104), das Konservierungsmittel Sorbinsäure (E200) und weitere Hilfsstoffe.
