Colestid ist ein Arzneimittel zur Senkung des Cholesterinspiegels, indem es die Bindung der Gallensalze im Darm fördert. Der Wirkstoff von Colestid (Colestipol) wird nicht in das Blut aufgenommen. Colestid enthält kein Zucker.
Colestid soll nur auf Verschreibung des Arztes oder der Ärztin angewendet werden. Es wird als Zusatz zu einer Diät verwendet.
Zu hohe Cholesterinspiegel werden zuerst mit einer Diät behandelt; hat diese eine ungenügende Wirkung, wird zur Diät Colestid verschrieben.
Colestid darf bei Überempfindlichkeit auf Colestipol oder den Hilfsstoff nicht verwendet werden.
Die Behandlung erhöhter Cholesterinspiegel soll mit einer Diät eingeleitet werden, und auch während einer Therapie mit Colestid wird diese beibehalten. Die Cholesterinspiegel werden regelmässig überwacht, die Wirkung von Colestid zeigt sich im Allgemeinen nach einem Monat.
Bei bestehender Verstopfung ist bei der Verwendung von Colestid eine ärztliche Überwachung notwendig.
Die Wirkung verschiedener anderer Arzneimittel, wie Antibiotika, Mittel gegen Bluthochdruck und Herzschwäche (sog. Digitalispräparate) sowie Blutgerinnungsmitteln, Immunsuppressiva (z.B. Mycophenolat-Mofetil), harntreibender Arzneimitteln und Schmerzmitteln, kann durch Colestid beeinflusst werden.
Generell sollte die Einnahme anderer Arzneimittel mindestens eine Stunde vor oder vier Stunden nach der Verabreichung von Colestid erfolgen.
Informieren Sie Ihren Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihre Ärztin oder Apothekerin, wenn Sie
Colestid darf während der Schwangerschaft oder in der Stillzeit nur auf ausdrückliche Verordnung des Arztes oder der Ärztin verwendet werden.
Aufgrund der Cholesterinwerte legt der Arzt bzw. die Ärztin die genaue Dosierung fest. Die übliche Dosierung beträgt täglich 5 bis 30 g Colestipol, verteilt auf eine bis zwei Einnahmen.
Colestid Granulat wird mit möglichst viel Flüssigkeit, pro Sachet mindestens 1 dl, gut vermischt eingenommen. Geeignet sind nicht-kohlensäurehaltige Getränke wie Milch, Frucht- und Gemüsesäfte oder Speisen mit hohem Flüssigkeitsgehalt wie Müesli, Suppen, Obstsalat, Kompott etc. Colestid darf nicht in trockener Form geschluckt werden, da dies Atemnot und Brustschmerzen zur Folge haben kann.
Ändern Sie nicht von sich aus die verschriebene Dosierung. Wenn Sie glauben, das Arzneimittel wirke zu schwach oder zu stark, so sprechen Sie mit Ihrem Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. mit Ihrer Ärztin oder Apothekerin.
Folgende Nebenwirkungen können bei der Einnahme von Colestid auftreten:
Colestid kann sehr häufig zu Kopfschmerzen, Migräne, Verstopfung, Bauchbeschwerden und ?schmerzen führen.
Häufig können Verdauungsbeschwerden, Aufstossen, Sodbrennen, Blähungen, Übelkeit, Erbrechen, Fettstuhl, Durchfall, blutiger Stuhlgang, Hämorrhoidalblutungen, Gelenkentzündungen, Gelenk-, Muskel-, Rücken- oder Gliedmassenschmerzen, Hautausschläge sowie Müdigkeit auftreten.
Gelegentlich kann es zu Appetitmangel, Schlaflosigkeit, Schwindel, Brustengegefühl und Brustschmerzen, beschleunigtem Herzschlag, Kurzatmigkeit, Magengeschwüren und Blutungen, Hämorrhoiden, Gallenblasenentzündung und Gallensteinen, Hautentzündungen, Nesselsucht, Ödemen (Wasseransammlung im Gewebe von Beinen und/oder Armen) und Schwäche kommen.
Es kann zu einer verminderten Aufnahme fettlöslicher Vitamine (A, D, E, K) und in Einzelfällen zu Folsäuremangel kommen.
