Cosaar ist ein Arzneimittel, welches zur Senkung des Blutdrucks angewendet wird.
Cosaar senkt den Blutdruck, indem es spezifisch körpereigene Rezeptoren (sog. Angiotensin II Rezeptoren) blockiert, die Ihre Blutgefässe verengen. Mit Cosaar werden demzufolge die Blutgefässe erweitert. Obwohl Sie wahrscheinlich von der Wirkung des Arzneimittels selbst nichts verspüren, kann diese durch den Arzt oder die Ärztin mittels Blutdruckmessung nachgewiesen werden.
Wenn Sie hohen Blutdruck mit Linksherzvergrösserung haben, wird Ihnen Ihr Arzt oder Ihre Ärztin Cosaar verschreiben, um das Risiko einer Herz-Kreislauferkrankung, insbesondere des Schlaganfalls, zu vermindern.
Bei Patienten und Patientinnen mit hohem Blutdruck und Linksherzvergrösserung bewirkte Cosaar eine Senkung des Schlaganfallrisikos.
Cosaar bewirkt auch einen Schutz der Nieren, wobei das Fortschreiten einer Nierenerkrankung bei Typ 2 Diabetikern mit erhöhtem Blutdruck und mit Protein (Eiweiss) im Urin (Proteinurie) verzögert werden kann. Eine Nierenerkrankung kann unter anderem durch Eiweissnachweis im Urin ermittelt werden.
Ihr Arzt oder Ihre Ärztin kann Cosaar auch bei milder bis mittelschwerer Herzinsuffizienz (Herzmuskelschwäche, ungenügende Herzleistung) in Kombination mit anderen Arzneimitteln einsetzen, wenn andere üblicherweise für diese Erkrankung verwendeten Arzneimittel wegen bestimmten Nebenwirkungen ungeeignet sind.
Ihr Arzt oder Ihre Ärztin kann Ihnen auch Cosaar verschrieben haben, weil Sie an Diabetes vom Typ 2 mit erhöhtem Blutdruck und mit Eiweiss im Urin leiden. Bei Typ 2 Diabetikern mit erhöhtem Blutdruck und mit Eiweiss im Urin hat sich Cosaar als wirksam erwiesen, da das Fortschreiten der Nierenerkrankung verzögert werden kann.
Cosaar darf nur auf Verschreibung des Arztes oder der Ärztin angewendet werden.
Wenn ein hoher Blutdruck nicht behandelt wird, können lebenswichtige Organe, wie das Hirn, Herz und die Nieren geschädigt werden. Sie können sich wohlauf fühlen und keine Symptome haben, aber die unbehandelte Hypertonie kann eventuell einen Hirnschlag, einen Herzinfarkt, eine Herzschwäche, eine Nierenfunktionsstörung oder Erblinden verursachen.
Nehmen Sie Cosaar nicht ein, wenn Sie auf irgendeinen der Inhaltsstoffe überempfindlich (allergisch) reagieren.
Falls früher anlässlich der Einnahme eines blutdrucksenkenden Arzneimittels Schwellungen im Gesicht, an Lippen, Zunge oder im Rachen (Schluck- oder Atembeschwerden) auftraten, dürfen Sie Cosaar nicht einnehmen.
Während der letzten 6 Monate einer Schwangerschaft (Es wird empfohlen Cosaar auch in der frühen Phase der Schwangerschaft nicht anzuwenden. Siehe «Wann ist bei der Einnahme/Anwendung von Cosaar Vorsicht geboten?» und «Darf Cosaar während einer Schwangerschaft oder in der Stillzeit eingenommen/angewendet werden?»).
Nehmen Sie Cosaar nicht ein, wenn Sie Diabetes oder eine eingeschränkte Nierenfunktion haben und das Arzneimittel Aliskiren (z.B. Rasilez®) zur Senkung des Blutdrucks einnehmen.
Teilen Sie Ihrem Arzt/Ihrer Ärztin mit, wenn Sie vermuten, schwanger zu sein (oder schwanger werden könnten). Die Einnahme von Cosaar in der frühen Phase der Schwangerschaft wird nicht empfohlen, und Cosaar darf nicht mehr nach dem dritten Schwangerschaftsmonat eingenommen werden, da die Einnahme von Cosaar in diesem Stadium zu schweren Schädigungen Ihres ungeborenen Kindes führen kann (siehe «Wann darf Cosaar nicht eingenommen werden?» und ?Darf Cosaar während einer Schwangerschaft oder in der Stillzeit eingenommen/angewendet werden?").
Informieren Sie Ihren Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihre Ärztin oder Apothekerin, wenn Sie an anderen Krankheiten leiden, Allergien haben oder andere Arzneimittel (auch selbstgekaufte!) einnehmen.
Sagen Sie Ihrem Arzt oder Ihrer Ärztin, wenn Sie kürzlich an übermässigem Erbrechen oder Durchfall gelitten haben. Es ist besonders wichtig, dass Sie Ihren Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin informieren, wenn Sie an einer Erkrankung der Leber oder der Niere oder an Zuckerkrankheit (Diabetes) leiden.
Über die Anwendung von Cosaar bei Kindern liegt keine Erfahrung vor. Deshalb sollte Cosaar nicht an Kinder verabreicht werden.
Normalerweise wirkt Cosaar bei jüngeren und älteren Patienten und Patientinnen gleich gut und es kann die gleiche Dosierung angewendet werden.
Im Allgemeinen übt Cosaar keine Wechselwirkung aus mit Nahrungsmitteln oder anderen Arzneimitteln, die Sie gleichzeitig einnehmen. Informieren Sie Ihren Arzt oder Ihre Ärztin dennoch über alle Arzneimittel, die Sie einnehmen oder einzunehmen gedenken, auch über solche, die ohne Rezept erhältlich sind. Teilen Sie ihm oder ihr auch mit, wenn Sie Kaliumzusätze, kaliumsparende Mittel oder Kalium enthaltende Diätsalze einnehmen. Teilen Sie ihm oder ihr auch mit, wenn Sie Arzneimittel zur Behandlung von Schmerzen und Arthritis, andere Blutdruck-Arzneimittel sowie Lithium (ein Arzneimittel zur Behandlung von gewissen Depressionen) einnehmen.

Teilen Sie Ihrem Arzt/Ihrer Ärztin mit, wenn Sie vermuten, schwanger zu sein (oder schwanger werden könnten). In der Regel wird Ihr Arzt/Ihre Ärztin Ihnen empfehlen, Cosaar vor einer Schwangerschaft bzw. sobald Sie wissen, dass Sie schwanger sind, abzusetzen, und er/sie wird Ihnen ein anderes Arzneimittel empfehlen. Die Anwendung von Cosaar in der frühen Schwangerschaft wird nicht empfohlen und Cosaar darf nicht mehr nach dem dritten Schwangerschaftsmonat eingenommen werden, da die Einnahme von Cosaar zu Schädigungen oder zum Tod des ungeborenen Kindes führen kann. Sollten Sie während der Einnahme von Cosaar schwanger werden, teilen Sie es umgehend Ihrem Arzt/ihrer Aerztin mit.
Teilen sie Ihrem Arzt/Ihrer Ärztin mit, wenn Sie stillen oder mit dem Stillen beginnen wollen. Cosaar wird nicht zur Anwendung bei stillenden Müttern empfohlen; Ihr Arzt/Ihre Ärztin kann eine andere Behandlung für Sie wählen, wenn Sie stillen wollen, vor allem, solange Ihr Kind im Neugeborenenalter ist oder wenn es eine Frühgeburt war.
Um eine gleichmässige Blutdruckkontrolle aufrechtzuerhalten, ist es wichtig, die Filmtabletten regelmässig und möglichst jeden Tag zur gleichen Zeit einzunehmen. Die Behandlung des hohen Blutdrucks ist eine Langzeittherapie und sollte deshalb so lange fortgeführt werden, wie Ihr Arzt oder Ihre Ärztin es Ihnen verschrieben hat.
Ihr Arzt oder Ihre Ärztin wird abhängig von Ihrem Zustand und Ihrer Begleitmedikation mit anderen Arzneimitteln die für Sie geeignete Dosis von Cosaar bestimmen.
Die übliche Dosierung von Cosaar beträgt bei den meisten Patienten und Patientinnen eine Filmtablette zu 50 mg pro Tag, welche unabhängig von den Mahlzeiten eingenommen werden kann.
Die übliche Dosis von Cosaar zur Verminderung des Schlaganfallrisikos bei Patienten und Patientinnen mit Bluthochdruck und Linksherzvergrösserung beträgt 1 Filmtablette zu 50 mg einmal täglich. Die Dosis kann bei Bedarf auf 1 Filmtablette zu 100 mg einmal täglich erhöht werden.
Die übliche empfohlene Anfangsdosis beträgt 12,5 mg (1 Filmtablette der Starterpackung) einmal täglich. Ihr Arzt oder Ihre Ärztin wird diese Dosis schrittweise erhöhen, bis die richtige Dosis für Sie gefunden worden ist. Die übliche Erhaltungsdosis beträgt eine Filmtablette zu 50 mg einmal täglich.
Die übliche Dosis von Cosaar beträgt für die meisten Patienten und Patientinnen 50 mg einmal täglich. Die Dosis kann nach Bedarf auf 100 mg einmal täglich erhöht werden.
Sollten Sie jedoch einmal die Einnahme vergessen, so nehmen Sie keine Extradosis ein, sondern fahren Sie am folgenden Tag wie gewohnt mit der Einnahme fort.
Bei einer Überdosierung sollten Sie sofort mit Ihrem Arzt oder Ihrer Ärztin Kontakt aufnehmen, sodass eine medizinische Behandlung rechtzeitig erfolgen kann.
Ändern Sie nicht von sich aus die verschriebene Dosierung. Wenn Sie glauben, das Arzneimittel wirke zu schwach oder zu stark, so sprechen Sie mit Ihrem Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. mit Ihrer Ärztin oder Apothekerin.
Jedes Arzneimittel kann unerwünschte oder unbeabsichtigte Wirkungen, sogenannte Nebenwirkungen, haben. Die folgenden unerwünschten Wirkungen wurden bisher beobachtet:
Sehr häufig: Kopfschmerzen und Schwindel (Benommenheit);
häufig: Infektionen der oberen Atemwege, Schlaflosigkeit, Drehschwindel (Vertigo), Herzklopfen, schneller Herzschlag, tiefer Blutdruck, Husten, Halsentzündung, verstopfte Nase, Durchfall, Übelkeit, Bauchschmerzen, Verdauungsstörungen, Rückenschmerzen, Muskelkrämpfe, Schwäche/Müdigkeit, Flüssigkeitsansammlung in den Geweben (Ödeme)/Schwellungen und Brustschmerzen;
gelegentlich: Blutdruckabfall beim Aufstehen (mit Symptomen wie Schwindel, Schwarzwerden vor den Augen) und Hautausschlag.
Über Migräne, Geschmacksstörungen, Erbrechen, Gelenk- und Muskelschmerzen, Abnahme der roten Blutzellen und der Blutplättchen, Entzündungsreaktionen der Blutgefässe, Leberentzündung, Impotenz, Unwohlsein, Juckreiz und erhöhte Lichtempfindlichkeit der Haut wurde auch berichtet.
Informieren Sie Ihren Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihre Ärztin oder Apothekerin sofort, wenn Sie solche oder andere ungewöhnlichen Symptome beobachten.
Einige Patienten bzw. Patientinnen ? besonders diejenigen mit Diabetes vom Typ 2 mit Eiweiss im Urin ? können auch erhöhte Kaliumspiegel im Blut entwickeln. Sprechen Sie mit Ihrem Arzt oder Ihrer Ärztin, wenn Sie eine Nierenerkrankung und Typ 2 Diabetes mit Eiweiss im Urin haben und/oder Kaliumzusätze, kaliumsparende Mittel oder kaliumhaltige Diätsalze einnehmen.
Wenn Sie eine allergische Reaktion mit Schwellung des Gesichts, der Lippen, des Rachens und/oder Zunge (mit Schluck- oder Atembeschwerden) verspüren, unterbrechen Sie die Einnahme von Cosaar und setzen Sie sich sofort mit Ihrem Arzt oder Ihrer Ärztin in Verbindung.
Bewahren Sie dieses Arzneimittel ausserhalb der Reichweite von Kindern auf.
Bewahren Sie Cosaar vor Licht geschützt in der Originalverpackung bei 15-30 °C auf.
Das Arzneimittel darf nur bis zu dem auf der Verpackung mit «Exp» bezeichneten Datum verwendet werden.
Weitere Auskünfte erteilt Ihnen Ihr Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihre Ärztin oder Apothekerin. Diese Personen verfügen über die ausführliche Fachinformation.
Cosaar 50: weisse Filmtablette von ovaler Form mit Bruchrille, mit 50 mg Losartan-Kalium als Wirkstoff sowie Hilfsstoffen.
Cosaar 100: weisse Filmtablette von tropfenförmiger Form, mit 100 mg Losartan-Kalium als Wirkstoff sowie Hilfsstoffen.
Cosaar 12,5: blaue Filmtablette, mit 12,5 mg Losartan-Kalium als Wirkstoff, dem Farbstoff Indigotin (E 132) sowie weiteren Hilfsstoffen.
Wenn auch Cosaar eine sehr geringe Menge Kalium enthält, kann es Kaliumzusätze nicht ersetzen. Falls Ihnen vom Arzt oder der Ärztin Kaliumzusätze verordnet wurden, halten Sie sich weiter an seine oder ihre Anweisungen.
