Zyrtec ist bei der Basisbehandlung von allergischen Erkrankungen wirksam. Es blockiert die Wirkung von Histamin, das bei allergischen Reaktionen im Körper freigesetzt wird. Zyrtec wird bei Erwachsenen und Kindern ab 6 Jahren eingesetzt zur Behandlung von allergischen Erkrankungen, wie Heuschnupfen, allergischer Schnupfen und allergische Bindehautentzündung sowie chronische Nesselsucht (die oft mit Juckreiz einhergeht). Kinder von 2 bis 6 Jahren, die an Heuschnupfen leiden, können auch mit Zyrtec behandelt werden. Die Behandlungsdauer für Kinder mit allergischem Schnupfen darf 4 Wochen nicht überschreiten. Zyrtec ist in Form von Filmtabletten oder Tropfen erhältlich.
Patienten oder Patientinnen, die gegen den Wirkstoff, anderen damit verwandten Substanzen oder einem sonstigen Bestandteil von Zyrtec überempfindlich sind, dürfen das Präparat nicht anwenden.
Stillende Frauen sollten Zyrtec nicht anwenden. Schwangere Frauen sollten Zyrtec nur auf ärztliche Verordnung einnehmen.
Patienten oder Patientinnen mit seltenen erblichen Problemen von Galaktose-Intoleranz, Lapp-Laktase Mangel oder Glucose-Galaktose Malabsorption sollten keine Zyrtec Filmtabletten nehmen.
Patienten oder Patientinnen mit einer schweren Nierenkrankheit (schwere Einschränkung der Nierenfunktion mit einer Kreatinin-Clearance unter 10 ml/min) dürfen Zyrtec nicht einnehmen.
Kinder unter 2 Jahren sollten nicht mit Zyrtec behandelt werden. Eine gleichzeitige Einnahme von Zyrtec mit Theophyllin (ein Wirkstoff zur Behandlung von Atemnotzuständen) sollte nur nach Rücksprache mit Ihrem Arzt oder Ihrer Ärztin erfolgen. Zyrtec und Präparate, welche Glipizid enthalten (ein Mittel zur Behandlung der Zuckerkrankheit) sollten nicht zusammen eingenommen werden. Es wird empfohlen, morgens die Glipizid-Medikation und abends Zyrtec einzunehmen.
Bei Epileptikern sollte Zyrtec mit Vorsicht angewendet werden, da es möglicherweise Krampfanfälle auslösen könnte.
Bei der gleichzeitigen Anwendung von Zyrtec mit Beruhigungs- oder Schmerzmitteln ist Vorsicht geboten.
Beim Lenken eines Motorfahrzeuges oder im Umgang mit Maschinen ist Vorsicht geboten, da die Einnahme von Zyrtec schläfrig machen kann.
Während einer Behandlung mit Zyrtec ist es ratsam, auf Alkohol zu verzichten.
Wenn bei Ihnen ein Allergietest durchgeführt werden soll, fragen Sie bitte Ihren Arzt oder Ihre Ärztin, ob Sie die Einnahme von Zyrtec für einige Tage vor dem Test unterbrechen sollen, da dieses Arzneimittel das Ergebnis eines Allergietests beeinflussen könnte.
Bei Patienten mit Neigungzu Harnretention (wie z.B. Rückenmarksverletzung, Prostatavergrösserung) kann Zyrtec das Risiko einer Harnretention erhöhen.
Informieren Sie Ihren Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihre Ärztin oder Apothekerin, wenn Sie an anderen Krankheiten leiden, Allergien haben oder andere Arzneimittel (auch selbst gekaufte!) einnehmen.
In Tierversuchen sind keine unerwünschten Wirkungen festgestellt worden. Dennoch sollte Zyrtec?wie andere Arzneimittel?während der Schwangerschaft nicht eingenommen werden. Sollten Sie Zyrtec während der Schwangerschaft versehentlich eingenommen haben, ist eine schädigende Wirkung für das ungeborene Kind nicht zu erwarten, dennoch sollte die Behandlung sofort abgesetzt werden. Sprechen Sie mit Ihrem Arzt oder Ärztin, wenn Sie schwanger sind oder es werden möchten. Während der Stillzeit darf Zyrtec nicht eingenommen werden, da der Wirkstoff in die Muttermilch übergeht.
Für Erwachsene und Kinder ab 6 Jahren: Die übliche Dosierung beträgt ein Mal täglich eine Zyrtec Filmtablette oder 20 Tropfen Zyrtec. Bei Kindern von 6 bis 12 Jahren kann die Dosierung auf zwei Einnahmen (je eine halbe Filmtablette oder 10 Tropfen morgens und abends) verteilt werden. Falls sich leichte Nebenerscheinungen (Müdigkeit, Kopfschmerzen, Magen-Darm-Störungen) einstellen, welche sich nicht von alleine zurückbilden, ist es auch bei Erwachsenen ratsam, je eine halbe Filmtablette oder 10 Tropfen morgens und abends zu nehmen.
Für Kinder von 2 bis 6 Jahren: Die empfohlene Dosierung beträgt je 5 Tropfen morgens und abends.
Patienten oder Patientinnen mit eingeschränkter Nierenfunktion (Niereninsuffizienz) erhalten gegebenenfalls eine geringere Dosis, die sich nach dem Schweregrad der Nierenerkrankung richtet und vom behandelnden Arzt oder Ärztin festgelegt wird.
Die Zyrtec Filmtabletten sollen unzerkaut mit einem Glas Flüssigkeit eingenommen werden.
Die Zyrtec Tropfen können unverdünnt oder in einem Glas Wasser verdünnt eingenommen werden.
Die Einnahme von Zyrtec kann zu oder unabhängig von den Mahlzeiten erfolgen. Die Behandlungsdauer richtet sich nach Art, Dauer und Verlauf der Beschwerden und wird vom Arzt oder von der Ärztin bestimmt. Sollten Sie eine Einnahme von Zyrtec vergessen, setzen Sie die Behandlung einfach fort. Nehmen Sie bitte keine doppelte Dosis ein, um eine vergessene Einnahme nachzuholen. Im Falle einer Überdosierung sollten Sie sich sofort an Ihren Arzt oder Ärztin wenden.
Halten Sie sich an die in der Packungsbeilage angegebene oder vom Arzt oder von der Ärztin verschriebene Dosierung. Wenn Sie glauben, das Arzneimittel wirke zu schwach oder zu stark, so sprechen Sie mit Ihrem Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihrer Ärztin oder Apothekerin.
Folgende Nebenwirkungen können bei der Einnahme von Zyrtec auftreten: Bei Behandlungsbeginn kann leichte Müdigkeit auftreten. Auch über leichte Kopfschmerzen, Konzentrationsstörungen, Schläfrigkeit, Schwindel, Mundtrockenheit, Magen-Darm-Störungen (z.B. Durchfall, Bauchschmerzen), Übelkeit und Überempfindlichkeitsreaktionen, ist berichtet worden. Selten wurde unter Zyrtec-Behandlung von Krampfanfällen, Bewegungsstörungen, Lichtempfindlichkeitsreaktionen, Leberschädigungen, allergischer Schock, Kreislaufversagen, Taubheit, Unwohlsein, Juckreiz, Ausschlag, Urtikaria, Missempfindungen der Haut, schneller Herzschlag und Erregung, Oedeme (Schwellungen), Gewichtszunahme, Verwirrtheit, Halluzinationen, Schlaflosigkeit, Aggression, Miktionsstörungen (abnorme Harnausscheidung), extreme Müdigkeit, Venenentzündungen und Sehstörungen berichtet. Es können Gedächtnisverlust (Amnesie), Gedächtnisstörungen, Schwindel, Harnverhalten, erhöhter Appetit und Selbstmordgedanken auftreten, deren Häufigkeit auf Grundlage der verfügbaren Daten nicht abschätzbar ist.
Sollte bei Ihnen eine dieser Nebenwirkungen auftreten, nehmen Sie Zyrtec nicht weiter und informieren Sie Ihren Arzt oder Ärztin. Wenn Sie Nebenwirkungen bemerken, die hier nicht beschrieben sind, sollten Sie Ihren Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihre Ärztin oder Apothekerin informieren.
Bewahren Sie das Arzneimittel ausserhalb der Reichweite von Kindern, bei Raumtemperatur (15?25 °C) und vor Licht geschützt auf. Das Arzneimittel darf nur bis zu dem auf dem Behälter mit «EXP» bezeichneten Datum verwendet werden.
Aufbrauchfrist nach Anbruch der Flasche: 3 Monate.
