Das Cholesterin, die Gallensäuren und die Phospholipide sind die wichtigsten Bestandteile der Gallenflüssigkeit. Um die Bildung von Gallensteinen zu vermeiden, ist ein Gleichgewicht dieser Komponenten in der Galle erforderlich. Bei Veränderung des Mischungsverhältnisses in Richtung eines Anstiegs des Cholesteringehalts fällt das Cholesterin zunächst in Form von Kristallen aus, dann bilden sich Gallensteine.
Ursochol, wenn in der richtigen Dosis und während einer ausreichend langen Zeit eingenommen, löst die Cholesterinkristalle und die Cholesterinsteine auf und verhütet die Entstehung von neuen Gallensteinen. Ferner wirkt Ursochol günstig auf Fettunverträglichkeit sowie auf schmerzhafte Verdauungsbeschwerden und Blähungen. Diese können durch einen gestörten Gallenfluss ausgelöst werden, auch wenn keine Gallensteine vorliegen. Als Vor- und Nachbehandlung bei der Gallensteinzertrümmerung. Bei Lebererkrankungen mit Gallenstauung verringert die mit Ursodeoxycholsäure angereicherte Galle die lebergewebeschädigenden Eigenschaften der anderen Gallensäuren und verbessert das Allgemeinbefinden des Patienten.
Ursochol ist nur auf Verschreibung des Arztes oder der Ärztin zu verwenden.
Während der Behandlung mit Ursochol empfiehlt sich eine faserreiche (Früchte, Gemüse, Getreide, Kleie usw.), cholesterinarme (Verbrauch von weniger Eiern, Rahm, Meeresfrüchten, Leber, fettem Fleisch) und kalorienarme Nahrung.
Eine Behandlung mit Ursochol ist in den folgenden Fällen nicht angezeigt:
schmerzhafte Magengeschwüre,
akute und chronische Lebererkrankungen,
Darmerkrankungen oder chirurgische Eingriffe am Darm, die eine normale Rezirkulation der Gallensäuren verhindern,
akute Entzündung der Gallenblase oder der Leber, sowie bei häufigen Koliken,
Verschluss der Gallenwege (Choledochus- oder Zystikusverschluss),
Überempfindlichkeit auf den Wirkstoff oder einen Hilfsstoff,
Schwangerschaft und Stillzeit.
Während der Behandlung mit Ursochol ist die Einnahme gewisser Arzneimittel zu vermeiden, da sie die Wirkung von Ursochol beeinträchtigen könnten. Es handelt sich um Arzneimittel zur Neutralisierung von vermehrter Magensäure (sogenannte Antazida) oder zur Senkung des Cholesterinspiegels im Blut (Cholestiramin, Divistyramin und Colestipol). Wenn Sie trotzdem solche Arzneimittel einnehmen müssen, so müssen Sie diese mindestens 2 Stunden vor oder nach der Einnahme von Ursochol einnehmen.
Sprechen Sie mit Ihrem Arzt resp. Ihrer Ärztin wenn Sie Antibiotika, Arzneimittel gegen zu hohen Blutdruck oder Arzneimittel mit dem Wirkstoff Cyclosporin einnehmen. Ihr Arzt resp. Ihre Ärztin wird möglicherweise die Dosierung dieser Arzneimittel anpassen.
Frauen im gebärfähigen Alter sollen Ursochol nur bei gleichzeitiger Anwendung von nicht-hormonalen empfängnisverhütenden Massnahem (keine Pille!) einnehmen. Sprechen Sie mit Ihrem Arzt resp. Ihrer Ärztin über eine für Sie geeignete Methode.
Ursochol darf nur unter ärztlicher Kontrolle angewendet werden. In den ersten 3 Monaten der Behandlung wird Ihr Arzt resp. Ihre Ärztin Ihre Leberwerte alle 4 Wochen kontrollieren. Danach werden die Kontrollen alle 3 Monate durchgeführt.
Ursochol enthält Laktose. Patienten mit Galaktose oder Laktose-Unverträglichkeit oder Malabsorption von Glucose-Galaktose dürfen dieses Arzneimittel nicht einnehmen.
Informieren Sie Ihren Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihre Ärztin oder Apothekerin, wenn Sie an anderen Krankheiten leiden, Allergien haben oder andere Arzneimittel (auch selbstgekaufte!) einnehmen oder äusserlich anwenden.
Sie dürfen Ursochol während der Schwangerschaft und der Stillzeit nicht einnehmen. Sprechen Sie mit ihrem Arzt respektive Ihrer Ärztin wenn Sie schwanger sind, es werden wollen oder stillen.
Der Arzt bzw. die Ärztin legt für jede Indikation die Dosierung und Behandlungsdauer fest. Die unten angegebenen üblichen Dosierungen können auf Anweisung des Arztes bzw. der Ärztin geändert werden:
Behandlung der Gallensteine
Um gute Resultate zu erreichen, ist es sehr wichtig, die ärztliche Verschreibung genau zu beachten, ohne Dosis oder Anwendungszeiten zu wechseln.
Die therapeutische Dosis beträgt 10 mg pro kg Körpergewicht. Die Tagesdosis wird auf 2 Einnahmen verteilt (morgens und abends). Dabei ist die höhere Dosis am Abend zu nehmen (siehe Dosierungsschema).

Für die Gallensteinauflösung beträgt die Mindestbehandlungsdauer drei Monate. Nach dem ultraschall- oder radiodiagnostischen Verschwinden der Steine ist die Therapie vorsorglich noch drei Monate lang weiterzuführen, um die in der Untersuchung nicht mehr feststellbaren kleinsten Steinfragmente aufzulösen. Bei der Gallensteinzertrümmerung wird Ursochol zwei Wochen vor der Steinzertrümmerung eingenommen und die Behandlung bis zu drei Monate nach dem Verschwinden der Steinfragmente fortgesetzt.
Schmerzhafte Verdauungsbeschwerden gallenbedingten Ursprungs, gallenbedingte Blähungen und Fettunverträglichkeit: 2 Tabletten zu 150 mg täglich.
Chronisch progressives Leberleiden mit Gallenstauung (Primär biliäre Zirrhose): täglich 2 Tabletten Ursochol 300 mg oder gemäss Angabe des Arztes bzw. der Ärztin.
Tabletten mit etwas Flüssigkeit einnehmen, ohne sie zu kauen.
Ändern Sie nicht von sich aus die verschriebene Dosierung. Wenn Sie glauben, das Arzneimittel wirke zu schwach oder zu stark, so sprechen Sie mit Ihrem Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. mit Ihrer Ärztin oder Apothekerin.
Folgende Nebenwirkungen können bei der Einnahme von Ursochol auftreten:
Häufig auftretende Nebenwirkungen sind breiartiger Stuhlgang oder Durchfall.
Sehr selten auftretende Nebenwirkungen: Verkalkung von Gallensteinen, Nesselsucht (Urtikaria).
Bei der Behandlung der chronischen entzündlichen Erkrankung der Gallenwege (primär biliären Zirrhose): starke Beschwerden im rechten Oberbauch, starke Verschlechterung der Leberzirrhose.
Wenn Sie Nebenwirkungen bemerken, die hier nicht beschrieben sind, sollten Sie Ihren Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihre Ärztin oder Apothekerin informieren.
Arzneimittel ausser Reichweite von Kindern, vor Feuchtigkeit geschützt und bei Raumtemperatur (15?25 °C) aufbewahren.
Das Arzneimittel darf nur bis zu dem auf dem Behälter mit «EXP» bezeichneten Datum verwendet werden.
Weitere Auskünfte erteilt Ihnen Ihr Arzt oder Apotheker, bzw. Ihre Ärztin oder Apothekerin. Diese Personen verfügen über die ausführliche Fachinformation.
1 Tablette enthält 150 mg oder 300 mg Ursodeoxycholsäure und Milchzucker (Laktose) sowie Hilfsstoffe.
Die Ursodeoxycholsäure wird durch mehrere Herstellungsschritte aus der Galle des Rindes gewonnen.
