Tranxilium ist ein Medikament aus der Gruppe der «Benzodiazepine». Es wirkt beruhigend auf das Nervensystem und mildert Angstgefühle, welche durch psychische oder körperliche Störungen bedingt sind. Die Ursachen der Angst können jedoch nicht beseitigt werden.
Der Arzt bzw. die Ärztin verordnet Ihnen Tranxilium bei Angst- und Spannungszuständen, welche allein oder gemeinsam mit anderen körperlichen und seelischen Erkrankungen auftreten können.
Versuchen Sie, während der Behandlung mit Tranxilium, die Ursachen Ihrer Angst und/oder Schlaflosigkeit zu erkennen und zu beheben, so dass Sie nach einiger Zeit - auf Anweisung Ihres Arztes bzw. Ihrer Ärztin hin - mit der Einnahme aufhören können.
Ihr Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin kann eine Wiederholung der Behandlung, zu einem späteren Zeitpunkt, durchaus als sinnvoll erachten.
Schwere Beeinträchtigung der Atmung.
Kinder unter 9 Jahren sowie Patienten mit bekannter Überempfindlichkeit auf Benzodiazepine oder andere Inhaltsstoffe sollten Tranxilium nicht einnehmen.
Personen, die an fortschreitendem Muskelschwund (Myasthenia gravis) leiden, dürfen Tranxilium nicht einnehmen.
Schwere psychische Erkrankungen können mit Tranxilium allein nicht behandelt werden.
Sie müssen Ihren Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin unbedingt informieren, wenn Sie das Auftreten momentanen Atemstillstands während des Schlafes beobachten (Schlafapnoe-Syndrom genannt).
Die Einnahme von Tranxilium kann ? wie alle Präparate, die Benzodiazepine enthalten ? zu psychiatrischen und paradoxen Reaktionen führen. Dazu zählen unter anderem: Ruhelosigkeit, Reizbarkeit, Aggressivität, Sinnestäuschungen, Wutanfälle, Alpträume, Halluzinationen, Psychosen, unangemessenes Verhalten und andere unerwünschte Wirkungen auf das Verhalten.
Die Behandlung ist beim Auftreten entsprechender Symptome auszusetzen. Die genannten Reaktionen treten bei Kindern und älteren Patienten häufiger auf.
Eine alleinige Anwendung von Benzodiazepinen bei depressiven Patienten oder zur Behandlung der ängstlichen Komponente der Depression wird nicht empfohlen.
Die Einnahme von Tranxilium kann - wie bei allen benzodiazepinhaltigen Medikamenten - zu einer Abhängigkeit führen. Diese kann vor allem bei einer ununterbrochenen Einnahme über längere Zeit (in gewissen Fällen bereits nach einigen Wochen) auftreten und hat nach abruptem Absetzen des Medikamentes Entzugssymptome zur Folge. Es können dann Unruhe, Angstzustände, Schlaflosigkeit, Konzentrationsschwäche, Kopfschmerzen und Schweissausbrüche auftreten. Diese Erscheinungen klingen in der Regel nach zwei bis drei Wochen ab.
Um das Risiko der Entwicklung einer Abhängigkeit möglichst klein zu halten, beachten Sie bitte folgende Hinweise:
Beruhigungsmittel, Schlafmittel, starke Schmerzmittel und andere auf Gehirn und Nervensystem dämpfendwirkende Medikamente sowie muskelrelaxierende Substanzen können die Wirkung von Tranxilium verstärken und umgekehrt.
Tranxilium kann die Reaktionsfähigkeit, die Fahrtüchtigkeit und die Fähigkeit, Werkzeuge oder Maschinen zu bedienen, beeinträchtigen. Da diese Wirkung durch Alkohol verstärkt wird, sollten während der Behandlung mit Tranxilium keine alkoholischen Getränke eingenommen werden.
Informieren Sie Ihren Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihre Ärztin oder Apothekerin, wenn Sie
Bei älteren Patienten treten leichter Nebenwirkungen wie Somnolenz, Schwindel und Muskelschwäche auf, wodurch es leichter zu Stürzen mit in dieser Population schweren Folgen kommt. Daher wird empfohlen, die Dosis zu verringern.
Die gleichzeitige Anwendung von Benzodiazepinen und Natriumoxybat ist zu vermeiden, da sie möglicherweise das Risiko einer Atemdepression erhöht.
Tranxilium Filmtabletten enthalten Laktose. Patienten mit der seltenen hereditären Galaktose-Intoleranz, einem Laktase-Mangel oder einer Glukose-Galaktose-Malabsorption sollten dieses Medikament nicht einnehmen. Wenn Sie unter einer Unverträglichkeit gegenüber bestimmten Zuckern leiden, kontaktieren Sie Ihren Arzt, bevor Sie mit der Einnahme dieses Medikaments beginnen.
Während einer Schwangerschaft soll Tranxilium grundsätzlich nicht eingenommen werden, ausser wenn Ihr Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin es trotzdem für absolut unerlässlich hält. Es gibt Hinweise, dass solche Medikamente zu Risiken für das Ungeborene führen könnten. Bei Anwendung bei der Entbindung kann die Einnahme des Medikamentes zu Störungen beim Neugeborenen führen.
Informieren Sie Ihren Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin, wenn Sie schwanger sind oder werden können.
Tranxilium tritt in die Muttermilch über und kann Ihren Säugling schläfrig und trinkfaul machen. Verzichten Sie deshalb während der Stillperiode auf die Einnahme von Tranxilium.
Die übliche Dosis für Erwachsene beträgt zwischen 5 und 30 mg täglich.
Der Arzt bzw. die Ärztin kann, falls nötig, eine höhere oder eine niedrigere Dosis (insbesondere bei Kindern und älteren Patienten) verschreiben.
Nehmen Sie die verordnete Anzahl Kapseln, Tabs oder Filmtabletten - je nach Anweisung - mehrmals über den Tag verteilt oder als Einzeldosis zwischen 18 und 20 Uhr unzerkaut mit einem Glas Wasser ein.
Ändern Sie nicht von sich aus die verschriebene Dosierung. Wenn Sie glauben, das Arzneimittel wirke zu schwach oder zu stark, so sprechen Sie mit Ihrem Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihrer Ärztin oder Apothekerin.
Folgende Nebenwirkungen können bei der Einnahme von Tranxilium auftreten:
Bei Behandlungsbeginn können vorübergehende unerwünschte Nebenwirkungen wie Müdigkeit, Somnolenz (insbesondere bei älteren Menschen), Konzentrations- und Gedächtnisstörungen, Sprachstörungen, Schwindel sowie Muskelschwäche, unsicherer Gang und Stürze auftreten.
Man kann auch gegenteilige Wirkungen beobachten, nämlich Reizbarkeit, Agitationszustände, Alpträume, Halluzinationen. Solche Symptome erfordern eine sofortige Konsultation des Arztes bzw. der Ärztin.
Es wurde über Fälle von Blutdrucksenkung, Verlangsamung des Herzrhythmus und Atmungsstörungen berichtet.
Vereinzelt sind allergische und Überempfindlichkeitsreaktionen auf das Medikament möglich.
Die Einnahme von Tranxilium kann, insbesondere in hohen Dosen, zu einer Abhängigkeit führen und bei einem plötzlichen Behandlungsabbruch Entzugssyndrome auslösen (siehe «Wann ist bei der Einnahme von Tranxilium Vorsicht geboten?»).
Nebenwirkungen, die bei allen Benzodiazepine enthaltenden Präparaten auftreten, wurden ebenfalls berichtet: emotionale Gefühllosigkeit, verringerte Aufmerksamkeit, Kopfschmerzen, Koordinationsstörungen, Doppelbilder, gastrointestinale Störungen, Störungen der Libido, das Gedächtnis beeinträchtigende Wirkungen, die mit einem unangemessenen Verhalten in Zusammenhang gebracht werden können.
Psychiatrische und paradoxe Reaktionen: Ruhelosigkeit, Reizbarkeit, Aggressivität, Sinnestäuschungen, Wutanfälle, Alpträume, Halluzinationen, Psychosen, unangemessenes Verhalten und andere unerwünschte Wirkungen auf das Verhalten.
Eine vor der Behandlung bestehende Depression kann durch die Behandlung mit Benzodiazepinen hervortreten.
Wenn Sie Nebenwirkungen bemerken, die hier nicht beschrieben sind, sollten Sie Ihren Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihre Ärztin oder Apothekerin informieren.
Tranxilium muss ausserhalb der Reichweite von Kindern, in der verschlossenen Originalpackung (Schutz vor Feuchtigkeit!) und bei Raumtemperatur (15-25 °C) aufbewahrt werden.
Das Arzneimittel darf nur bis zu dem auf dem Behälter mit «EXP» bezeichneten Datum verwendet werden.

Der Wirkstoff von Tranxilium ist Dikaliumclorazepat.
1 Kapsel Tranxilium 5 resp. 10 enthält 5 mg resp. 10 mg Dikaliumclorazepat, den Farbstoff Erythrosin (E 127) und Hilfsstoffe.
1 Kapsel Tranxilium 20 enthält 20 mg Dikaliumclorazepat, den Farbstoff Indigotin (E 132) und Hilfsstoffe.
1 Tabs enthält 20 mg Dikaliumclorazepat, den Farbstoff Indigotin (E 132), Laktose und sonstige Hilfsstoffe.
Die Tabs können dank der drei Bruchrillen in vier Portionen zu je 5 mg Wirkstoff zerteilt werden.
1 Filmtablette enthält 50 mg Dikaliumclorazepat, den Farbstoff Erythrosin (E 127), Laktose und sonstige Hilfsstoffe.
Die Tabletten mit einer Bruchrille können in zwei Portionen zu je 25 mg Wirkstoff zerteilt werden.
