Symfona und Symfona forte enthalten einen Spezial-Trockenextrakt aus Ginkgoblättern (von Ginkgo Biloba).
Nach ärztlicher Untersuchung wird Symfona/Symfona forte eingesetzt bei der symptomatischen Behandlung des Abbaus der geistigen Leistungsfähigkeit (z.B. Gedächtnisstörungen, Konzentrationsstörungen).
Nach ärztlicher Untersuchung kann Symfona/Symfona forte angewendet werden als Zusatzbehandlung bei Claudicatio intermittens («Schaufensterkrankheit»). Dabei handelt es sich um das Auftreten von Wadenschmerzen beim Gehen, verursacht durch mangelhafte Durchblutung der Beine.
Symfona/Symfona forte kann, nach Ausschöpfung der physikalisch-therapeutischen Massnahmen, insbesondere Gehtraining, eine Verlängerung der schmerzfreien Gehstrecke bewirken.
Symfona/Symfona forte kann angewendet werden bei Vertigo und Tinnitus (Schwindel, Ohrgeräusche).
Bevor die Behandlung mit Symfona und Symfona forte Kapseln begonnen wird, sollte geklärt werden, ob die Krankheitssymptome nicht auf einer spezifisch zu behandelnden Grunderkrankung beruhen.
Häufig auftretende Schwindelgefühle und Ohrensausen bedürfen grundsätzlich einer Abklärung durch den Arzt oder die Ärztin. Bei plötzlich auftretender Schwerhörigkeit bzw. einem Hörverlust sollte unverzüglich ein Arzt aufgesucht werden.
Wenn die Beschwerden nicht innerhalb einer angemessenen Zeit nachlassen, sollten Sie Ihren Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin um Rat fragen.
Bei bekannter Überempfindlichkeit gegen Ginkgo biloba-Zubereitungen oder weiteren Bestandteilen des Arzneimittels (siehe «Was ist in Symfona/Symfona forte enthalten?») darf Symfona und Symfona forte nicht angewendet werden. Zur Anwendung dieses Arzneimittels bei Kindern liegen keine Untersuchungen vor. Es soll deshalb bei Kindern unter 12 Jahren nicht angewendet werden.
Insbesondere bei Langzeitanwendung wurde über Einzelfälle von Blutungen berichtet (deren ursächlicher Zusammenhang mit der Einnahme von Ginkgo-Zubereitungen bisher nicht eindeutig gesichert ist).
Eine Wechselwirkung mit Arzneimitteln, die die Blutgerinnung hemmen, kann nicht ausgeschlossen werden.
Über die Einnahme vor operativen Eingriffen ist der Arzt oder die Ärztin zu befragen bzw. zu informieren.
Informieren Sie Ihren Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihre Ärztin oder Apothekerin wenn Sie an anderen Krankheiten leiden, Allergien haben oder andere Arzneimittel (auch selbstgekaufte!) einnehmen oder äusserlich anwenden.
Aufgrund der bisherigen Erfahrungen ist bei bestimmungsgemässer Anwendung kein Risiko für das Kind bekannt. Systematische wissenschaftliche Untersuchungen wurden aber nie durchgeführt. Vorsichtshalber sollten Sie während der Schwangerschaft und Stillzeit möglichst auf Arzneimittel verzichten oder den Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. die Ärztin oder Apothekerin um Rat fragen.
Symfona: 2× täglich 1?2 Kapseln einnehmen.
Symfona forte: 2× täglich 1 Kapsel einnehmen, soweit vom Arzt oder der Ärztin nicht anders verschrieben.
Die Kapseln sind unzerkaut mit Flüssigkeit, am besten zum Frühstück und Nachtessen einzunehmen. Die Einnahme während längerer Zeit ist empfehlenswert. Eine längerdauernde Anwendung sollte aber vorher mit dem Arzt oder der Ärztin besprochen werden.
Ändern Sie nicht von sich aus die verschriebene Dosierung. Wenn Sie glauben, das Arzneimittel wirke zu schwach oder zu stark, so sprechen Sie mit Ihrem Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. mit Ihrer Ärztin oder Apothekerin.
Folgende Nebenwirkungen können bei Einnahme von Symfona und Symfona forte auftreten:
Bei der Einnahme von Ginkgo-haltigen Arzneimitteln können sehr selten leichte Magen-Darm-Beschwerden, Kopfschmerzen oder allergische Reaktionen der Haut (Hautrötung, -schwellung, Juckreiz) auftreten. Bei Langzeitanwendung wurde über Einzelfälle von Blutungen berichtet. Zum möglichen Blutungsrisiko siehe unter Rubrik «Wann darf Symfona/Symfona forte nicht oder nur mit Vorsicht angewendet werden?»
Wenn Sie Nebenwirkungen bemerken, die hier nicht beschrieben sind, sollten Sie Ihren Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihre Ärztin oder Apothekerin informieren.
Arzneimittel für Kinder unzugänglich aufbewahren. Bei Raumtemperatur (15?25 °C) lagern! Das Arzneimittel darf nur bis zu dem auf dem Behälter mit «EXP» bezeichneten Datum verwendet werden.
