Sumatriptan-Mepha Injektionslösung wird angewendet in der akuten Behandlung von Migräneanfällen.
Sumatriptan-Mepha Injektionslösung eignet sich auch zur Behandlung von Cluster Headache (Graupelkopfweh: starker, kurzer, in Anfällen auftretender, einseitiger Kopfschmerz).
Es wird angenommen, dass Migränekopfschmerzen durch eine schmerzhafte Erweiterung und Entzündung von Blutgefässen im Kopf verursacht werden. Sumatriptan-Mepha lindert die Migränekopfschmerzen, indem es die erweiterten Blutgefässe verengt.
Sumatriptan-Mepha darf nicht zur Vorbeugung (Prophylaxe) von Migräne oder Cluster Headache verwendet werden.
Sumatriptan-Mepha Injektionslösung soll nur auf Verschreibung des Arztes oder der Ärztin verwendet werden.
Sumatriptan-Mepha Injektionslösung darf nicht angewendet werden bei Überempfindlichkeit gegenüber einem Bestandteil des Präparates, bei unbehandeltem Bluthochdruck, durchgemachtem Herzinfarkt, bei Beeinträchtigung der Nierenfunktion und schweren Lebererkrankungen oder bekannten Durchblutungsstörungen des Herzens (Angina pectoris), des Gehirns und der Gliedmassen.
Sumatriptan-Mepha Injektionslösung darf nicht zusammen mit folgenden Arzneimitteln angewendet werden:
In seltenen Fällen kann ein sogenanntes «Serotonin Syndrom» auftreten, wenn Triptane wie z.B. Sumatriptan-Mepha zusammen mit anderen Arzneimitteln mit serotonerger Wirkung angewendet werden. Dazu gehören bestimmte Arzneimittel gegen Depressionen (z.B. sogenannte selektive Serotonin-Wiederaufnahme-Hemmer oder selektive Serotonin/Noradrenalin-Wiederaufnahme-Hemmer, sogenannte MAO-Hemmer, L-Tryptophan, Lithium, trizyklische Antidepressiva u.a.). Informieren Sie Ihren Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin, wenn Sie mit diesen Arzneimitteln behandelt werden. Das «Serotonin-Syndrom» kann folgende Symptome umfassen: Gesteigerte Erregbarkeit der Muskeleigenreflexe, Muskelzuckungen, Zittern, Unruhe, Angst, Halluzinationen, Reizbarkeit bis zum Verwirrtheitszustand und zur Bewusstlosigkeit, schneller Herzschlag, Blutdruckschwankungen, Übelkeit, Erbrechen, Fieber und Durchfall. Informieren Sie Ihren Arzt oder Ihre Ärztin, wenn nach der Einnahme von Sumatriptan-Mepha eines dieser Symptome auftritt.
Die gleichzeitige Verabreichung von Sumatriptan-Mepha mit anderen spezifischen Migränemitteln (sogenannten Triptanen) wird nicht empfohlen.
Informieren Sie Ihren Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihre Ärztin oder Apothekerin, wenn Sie an anderen Krankheiten wie Bluthochdruck oder Herzkrankheiten, Durchblutungsstörungen, Leber- und Nierenerkrankungen oder Epilepsie leiden, Allergien haben oder andere Arzneimittel (auch selbstgekaufte) einnehmen oder äusserlich anwenden!
Wenn Sie unter Behandlung mit sogenannten Betablockern stehen, die auch zur Vorbeugung gegen Migräne eingesetzt werden, wird Ihnen Ihr Arzt oder Ihre Ärztin Sumatriptan-Mepha mit besonderer Vorsicht verordnen.
Die Kopfschmerzen können sich verschlimmern, falls Sie zu häufig Sumatriptan-Mepha anwenden. Ihr Arzt oder Ihre Ärztin wird in diesem Fall möglicherweise die Behandlung mit Sumatriptan-Mepha absetzen.
Dieses Arzneimittel kann die Reaktionsfähigkeit, die Fahrtüchtigkeit und Fähigkeit, Werkzeuge oder Maschinen zu bedienen, beeinträchtigen!
Als Folge der Migräne oder der Behandlung mit Sumatriptan-Mepha kann auch Schläfrigkeit auftreten. Vorsicht ist deshalb geboten, wenn Sie während der Behandlung ein Fahrzeug lenken oder Maschinen bedienen.
Wenn Sie schwanger sind oder es werden möchten, dürfen Sie Sumatriptan-Mepha Injektionslösung nicht anwenden, es sei denn, dies ist klar notwendig.
Der Wirkstoff von Sumatriptan-Mepha geht in kleinen Mengen in die Muttermilch über. Säuglinge können vor einer Einwirkung geschützt werden, indem während 12 Stunden nach Anwendung von Sumatriptan-Mepha Injektionslösung auf das Stillen verzichtet und die Milch abgepumpt wird.
Sumatriptan-Mepha Injektionslösung kann nur mit Hilfe des Sumatriptan-Mepha-Pens angewendet werden. Bitte lesen Sie die Gebrauchsanweisung des Pens, die dessen Packung beiliegt, vor der ersten Anwendung genau durch.
Falls der Arzt oder die Ärztin nicht anders verordnet, gelten folgende Dosierungsrichtlinien:
Migräne: Bei den ersten Anzeichen von Migränekopfschmerzen oder auch während des Anfalles wird 1 Injektion zu 6 mg verabreicht. Nur wenn die bereits abgeklungenen Migränesymptome wieder auftreten, kann innerhalb der nächsten 24 Stunden 1 weitere Injektion verabreicht werden, vorausgesetzt, dass mindestens 1 Stunde seit der 1. Injektion verstrichen ist. Die maximale Dosis innerhalb von 24 Stunden ist 2 Injektionen (2× 6 mg). Innerhalb dieser 24 Stunden dürfen zusätzlich zu den beiden Injektionen keine Sumatriptan-Mepha Filmtabletten oder Sumatriptan-Mepha T Filmtabletten eingenommen resp. Sumatriptan-Mepha Nasalspraystösse oder Sumatriptan-Mepha Suppositorien angewendet werden.
Hingegen ist es möglich, die zweite Injektion einmalig durch eine andere Sumatriptan-Mepha Darreichungsform (Filmtabletten, T Filmtabletten, Suppositorien, Nasal Spray) in der jeweilig empfohlenen Dosierung zu ersetzen.
Falls die erste Injektion keine Wirkung gezeigt hat, sollten Sie für denselben Migräneanfall keine weiteren Sumatriptan-Mepha Injektionen verwenden, sondern den Anfall mit den gewohnten Schmerzmitteln weiterbehandeln, sofern diese kein Ergotamin oder Dihydroergotamin enthalten. Sumatriptan-Mepha Injektionslösung kann für die folgenden Migräneanfälle wieder verwendet werden.
Cluster Headache (Graupelkopfweh): Bei jedem Anfall kann 1 Injektion verabreicht werden. Die maximale Dosierung innerhalb von 24 Stunden ist 2 Injektionen (2× 6 mg). Vor Verabreichung der 2. Injektion muss mindestens 1 Stunde seit der 1. Injektion verstrichen sein.
Sumatriptan-Mepha Injektionslösung soll nicht bei Kindern oder Jugendlichen unter 18 Jahren und Erwachsenen über 65 Jahren angewendet werden, da noch zu wenig Erfahrungen vorliegen.
Ändern Sie nicht von sich aus die verschriebene Dosierung. Wenn Sie glauben, das Arzneimittel wirke zu schwach oder zu stark, so sprechen Sie mit Ihrem Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. mit Ihrer Ärztin oder Apothekerin.
Folgende Nebenwirkungen können bei der Anwendung von Sumatriptan-Mepha Injektionslösung auftreten:
Sehr häufig (bei mehr als 1 von 10 Behandelten): vorübergehender Schmerz, Stechen, Brennen, Schwellung, Rötung, Quetschung oder Bluten an der Injektionsstelle.
Häufig (bei weniger als 1 von 10 aber mehr als 1 von 100 Behandelten): Schwindel, Benommenheit, Kribbeln, vorübergehender Blutdruckanstieg, Kurzatmigkeit, Gesichtsrötung, Übelkeit, Erbrechen, Schmerzen, Schwäche, Müdigkeit, Hitze-, Kälte-, Druck-, Enge- und Schweregefühl an verschiedenen Körperteilen (einschliesslich Brust und Hals).
Sehr selten (bei weniger als 1 von 10'000 Behandelten einschliesslich Einzelfälle): Überempfindlichkeitsreaktionen aller Schweregrade (z.B. Hautausschlag, Luftnot bis zum Schock, der lebensbedrohlich sein kann), Krampfanfälle, Zittern, Dystonie (langsame, unwillkürliche Steigerung der Muskelanspannung mit abnormen Bewegungen und Haltungen), Augenzittern (Nystagmus), Gesichtsfeldausfälle (Skotomen), Sehstörungen wie Flimmern, Doppeltsehen, vermindertem Sehvermögen oder Sehverlust (unabhängig davon können Sehstörungen aber auch als Begleiterscheinung der Migräne selbst auftreten), Verlangsamung oder Beschleunigung des Herzschlages, Herzklopfen, Herzrhythmusstörungen, Durchblutungsstörungen des Herzens, Verkrampfungen der Herzkranzgefässe, Herzinfarkt, Blutdruckabfall, mangelnde Durchblutung der Extremitäten (Raynaud-Syndrom), Entzündung eines Dickdarmabschnittes aufgrund mangelnder Durchblutung (ischämische Kolitis), geringfügige Veränderungen der Leberwerte.
Sollten Schwierigkeiten mit dem Blutdruck oder Schmerzen in der Brust auftreten, wenden Sie sich bitte unverzüglich an Ihren Arzt oder Ihre Ärztin.

Sumatriptan-Mepha Injektionslösung ist nicht über 30 °C, vor Licht geschützt und ausserhalb der Reichweite von Kindern aufzubewahren. Nicht einfrieren.
Das Arzneimittel darf nur bis zu dem auf dem Behälter mit «EXP» bezeichneten Datum verwendet werden.
