Sorbidilat SR enthält als Wirkstoff Isosorbiddinitrat. Es dient zur Vorbeugung von Angina-pectoris-Anfällen (schmerzhafte Brustenge) und zur Behandlung der Herzschwäche bei oder nach einem Herzinfarkt.
Sorbidilat SR darf nur auf Verschreibung und unter ständiger Kontrolle des Arztes bzw. der Ärztin verwendet werden.

Angina pectoris) unter Behandlung mit Sorbidilat stehen, dürfen Sie keinesfalls Sildenafil (Viagra®) und andere Arzneimittel der so genannten Phosphodiesterase-Typ-5-Hemmer zur Behandlung der Impotenz des Mannes einnehmen. Die gleichzeitige Anwendung von Viagra oder anderen Arzneimitteln dieser Gruppe kann eine gefährliche Verstärkung der Wirkung von Sorbidilat in Form von Blutdruckabfall und Kreislaufzusammenbruch verursachen.
Sollten Sie aber Viagra oder andere Arzneimittel dieser Gruppe (Phosphodiesterase-Typ-5-Hemmer) dennoch eingenommen haben, ist die Anwendung von Sorbidilat innerhalb von 24 Stunden nach Einnahme von Viagra oder anderen Arzneimitteln dieser Gruppe strikte verboten. Dies gilt auch im Fall von plötzlich auftretenden Herzbeschwerden. Wenden Sie sich in dieser Notfallsituation an einen Arzt und informieren Sie ihn über die Einnahme von Viagra oder anderen Arzneimitteln dieser Gruppe.
Dieses Arzneimittel kann die Reaktionsfähigkeit, die Fahrtüchtigkeit und Fähigkeit, Werkzeuge oder Maschinen zu bedienen, beeinträchtigen! Dies gilt in verstärktem Mass bei Behandlungsbeginn, Dosiserhöhung sowie zusammen mit Alkohol.
Viele andere Arzneimittel, wie zum Beispiel andere blutdrucksenkende Mittel und Dihydroergotamine, können die Wirkung von Sorbidilat SR beeinflussen. Eine Kombination mit solchen Arzneimitteln ist zu vermeiden.

Wenn Sie schwanger sind oder es werden möchten sowie in der Stillzeit darf Sorbidilat SR nur nach Rücksprache mit dem Arzt oder der Ärztin eingenommen werden.
Der Arzt oder die Ärztin wird aufgrund regelmässiger Untersuchungen die für Sie zutreffende Dosierung festlegen.
Die Anfangsdosierung beträgt 1× täglich 1-3 Retardkapseln Sorbidilat SR 20 mg oder 1× täglich 1-2 Retardkapseln Sorbidilat SR 40 mg.
Als Standarddosierung empfiehlt sich 1× täglich 1 Retardkapsel Sorbidilat SR 100 mg. Falls erforderlich, kann die Dosierung auf 1× täglich 2 Retardkapseln Sorbidilat SR 100 mg gesteigert werden.
Sorbidilat SR Retardkapseln sollen am Morgen unzerkaut mit Wasser verabreicht werden.
Sicherheit und Wirksamkeit von Sorbidilat SR wurden bei Patienten unter 18 Jahren nicht untersucht. Sorbidilat SR ist deshalb für die Anwendung bei Kindern und Jugendlichen nicht empfohlen.
Ändern Sie nicht von sich aus die verschriebene Dosierung. Wenn Sie glauben, das Arzneimittel wirke zu schwach oder zu stark, so sprechen Sie mit Ihrem Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihrer Ärztin oder Apothekerin.
Folgende Nebenwirkungen können bei der Einnahme von Sorbidilat SR auftreten:
Sehr häufig können bei Behandlungsbeginn Kopfschmerzen auftreten, die erfahrungsgemäss meistens nach einigen Tagen bei weiterer Einnahme abklingen. Durch individuelle Anpassung der Dosierung kann diese Begleiterscheinung vermindert oder sogar vermieden werden.
Häufig kann ein Blutdruckabfall mit erhöhtem Puls, Benommenheit sowie einem Schwindel- und Schwächegefühl auftreten.
Gelegentlich können Kollapszustände, Erbrechen, Übelkeit, Hautrötungen und allergische Hautreaktionen vorkommen.
Wenn Sie Nebenwirkungen bemerken, die hier nicht beschrieben sind, sollten Sie Ihren Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihre Ärztin oder Apothekerin informieren.
Während einer Therapie mit Sorbidilat SR sollten keine alkoholischen Getränke eingenommen werden, weil Alkohol die Wirkung des Arzneimittels in unvorhersehbarer Weise beeinflusst.
Sorbidilat SR soll bei Raumtemperatur (15?25 °C) und für Kinder unerreichbar aufbewahrt werden.
Das Arzneimittel darf nur bis zu dem auf dem Behälter mit «EXP:» bezeichneten Datum verwendet werden. Falls Sie im Besitz von verfallenen Arzneimitteln sind, bringen Sie diese zur Entsorgung in die Apotheke zurück.
