Prazine ist ein Medikament zur Behandlung von schweren Gemütsstörungen wie auch von anderen Zuständen, die unbewusst schwer einschränkend sind. Weiter kann Prazine zur Linderung von schwerer Übelkeit und Erbrechen verschrieben werden. Prazine ist nur auf Verschreibung des Arztes oder der Ärztin anzuwenden.
Prazine soll nicht verwendet werden bei Überempfindlichkeit (Allergie) auf einen Inhaltsstoff in Prazine sowie auf Medikamente derselben Stoffklasse, die sogenannten Phenothiazine. Ebenso nicht in bewusstlosen Zuständen infolge zentral-dämpfender Mittel (Alkohol, Barbiturate, Opiate). Bei grünem Star (Engwinkelglaukom). Prazine sollte nicht Kindern unter 12 Jahren verabreicht werden.
Dieses Arzneimittel kann die Reaktionsfähigkeit, die Fähigkeit, Werkzeuge oder Maschinen zu bedienen und die Fahrtüchtigkeit beeinträchtigen!
Prazine kann speziell während der ersten Wochen der Einnahme zu Schläfrigkeit, Schwindel und Sehstörungen führen. Vom Fahren eines Fahrzeugs, Bedienen gefährlicher Maschinen oder dem Ausführen von Arbeiten, die genaues Sehen und Konzentration erfordern, ist daher solange abzuraten, bis diese Effekte verschwunden sind. Auch können zugrunde liegende Erkrankungen wie Psychosen oder Verhaltensstörungen die Fähigkeit, Werkzeuge oder Maschinen zu bedienen und die Fahrtüchtigkeit beeinträchtigen.
Patientinnen und Patienten, die auf Azofarbstoffe, Acetylsalicylsäure sowie Rheuma- und Schmerzmittel (Prostaglandinhemmer) überempfindlich reagieren, sollen Prazine Dragées 50 mg nicht anwenden.
Falls Sie an einer der nachstehenden Krankheiten leiden oder litten, darf Prazine nur mit Vorsicht angewendet werden:
Herzkrankheiten, Durchblutungsstörungen im Hirn, stark erniedrigter Blutdruck, Lebererkrankung, Epilepsie, schweres Asthma, Atembeschwerden infolge akuter Lungeninfektion.
Plötzliche Symptome einer Infektion wie z.B. Halsentzündung ? meist zwischen der 4. und 10. Behandlungswoche ? sind sofort dem Arzt zu melden zur Abklärung, ob es sich um eine Agranulozytose handelt, eine Verminderung der Granulozyten, einer Untergruppe der weissen Blutkörperchen.
Unter der Behandlung mit Prazine kann es selten zu einem sog. «malignem neuroleptischem Syndrom» kommen. Falls Sie starkes Fieber mit erheblicher Muskelspannung und nervösen Störungen haben, muss sofortige ärztliche Hilfe aufgesucht werden.
Weil Prazine die Schweissbildung hemmt und somit die Regulierung der Körpertemperatur behindert, müssen Personen, die extremer Hitze ausgesetzt sind oder Sport treiben, darauf achten, sich nicht zu überhitzen. Auch in der Sauna können Schwächegefühle auftreten. Während einer Behandlung mit Prazine ist der Konsum von Alkohol zu unterlassen, weil das Risiko einer unerwünschten Blutdrucksenkung besteht.
Die gleichzeitige Einnahme von zentraldämpfenden Medikamenten, z.B. Alkohol, Beruhigungsmittel, Schlafmittel, Mittel gegen Allergien oder Erkältungen (Antihistaminika) sollte wegen möglicher Wirkungsverstärkung vermieden werden.
Prazine kann die Lichtempfindlichkeit der Haut heraufsetzen, daher sollte auf ausgedehnte Sonnenbestrahlung verzichtet werden.
Zwischen der Einnahme von Prazine und Mitteln gegen Magenübersäuerung (Antazida) oder gegen Durchfall ist ein Abstand von 2 Stunden einzuhalten, damit Prazine zur vollen Wirkung gelangen kann.
Informieren Sie Ihren Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihre Ärztin oder Apothekerin, wenn Sie an anderen Krankheiten leiden, Allergien haben, oder andere Arzneimittel (auch selbstgekaufte) einnehmen.
Prazine soll in der Schwangerschaft nicht eingenommen werden; es sei denn, dass es nach Auffassung des/der behandelnden Arztes/Ärztin eindeutig erforderlich ist.
Bei Anwendung von Prazine während des letzten Drittels der Schwangerschaft können bei Neugeborenen Zittern, Muskelsteifigkeit, Schwäche, Schläfrigkeit, Erregung, Schwierigkeiten beim Atmen oder Probleme beim Füttern auftreten.
Bitte informieren Sie Ihren Arzt bzw. Ärztin unverzüglich im Falle einer Schwangerschaft, um das weitere Vorgehen zu besprechen. Die Behandlung soll keinesfalls aus eigenem Ermessen abgesetzt werden. Ein plötzliches Absetzen von Prazine kann schwerwiegende Folgen haben.
Bitte informieren Sie auch unverzüglich Ihren Frauenarzt bzw. -ärztin oder Geburtshelfer/-in über eine Einnahme während der Schwangerschaft, insbesondere wenn beschriebene Auffälligkeiten bei Ihrem Kind nach der Geburt auftreten.
Weil viele Arzneimittel in die Muttermilch ausgeschieden werden, wird Prazine während der Stillzeit nicht empfohlen.
Ihr/e Arzt/Ärztin wird die notwendige Dosis und Häufigkeit der Verabreichung anhand des Schweregrades des zu behandelnden Zustandes und der Art und Weise, wie Sie auf das Arzneimittel ansprechen, individuell bestimmen.
Die folgenden Dosierungen sollten deshalb als allgemeine Richtlinien angesehen werden, von denen Ihre persönliche Dosierung durchaus abweichen kann: Gemütsstörungen: 25 mg- 200 mg, alle 4 - 6 Stunden. Schwere Übelkeit und Erbrechen: 25 mg - 50 mg, alle 4 ? 6 Stunden. Jugendliche über 12 Jahren mit akuten Episoden chronischer psychotischer Störungen: 25 mg, alle 4 - 6 Stunden. Prazine kann mit einem Glas Wasser oder Milch während der Mahlzeiten eingenommen werden.
Ändern Sie nicht von sich aus die verschriebene Dosierung. Wenn Sie glauben, das Arzneimittel wirke zu schwach oder zu stark, so sprechen Sie mit Ihrem Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. mit Ihrer Ärztin oder Apothekerin.
Folgende Nebenwirkungen können bei der Einnahme von Prazine auftreten:
In gewissen Fällen kann eine Schläfrigkeit auftreten, die jedoch in der Behandlung meist erwünscht ist. Sie verschwindet normalerweise im Verlauf der weiteren Anwendung von selbst oder nimmt nach einer Reduzierung der Dosis ab.
Prazine 50 mg, Dragées: Der Farbstoff Gelborange S (E 110) in Prazine Dragées 50 mg kann Überempfindlichkeitsreaktionen der Haut und Atmungsorgane auslösen, insbesondere bei Patientinnen und Patienten mit Asthma, Nesselfieber (chronische Urticaria) oder mit Überempfindlichkeit auf Acetylsalicylsäure und andere Rheuma- und Schmerzmittel.
Falls die nachstehenden Nebenwirkungen auftreten, sollten Sie ihre/n Ärztin/Arzt darüber in Kenntnis setzen:
Bewegungsstörungen, abnormale Körperhaltung, angespannte Muskeln im Gesicht, Nacken und Rücken, Zittern der Hände oder Finger, Unvermögen ruhig zu sitzen. Falls die Bewegungsstörungen stark sind, Ihre Lebensqualität wesentlich beeinträchtigen oder länger dauern, sprechen Sie bitte mit Ihrem Arzt.
Sehstörungen, Sprachstörungen.
Hautreaktionen wie Hautausschlag, trockene oder schuppende Haut und übermässige Lichtempfindlichkeit.
Mundtrockenheit, Verstopfung.
Schwierigkeiten beim Wasserlassen, Menstruationsstörungen, Milchfluss bei Frauen und Schwellung der Brust oder Impotenz bei Männern.
Beim Auftreten der nachstehenden Nebenwirkungen darf Prazine nicht mehr eingenommen werden und die/der Ärztin/Arzt muss sofort aufgesucht werden:
Schnelles Herzklopfen und erhöhter oder unregelmässiger Puls, erniedrigter Blutdruck, der zu Schwäche, Schwindel oder sogar kurzzeitigem Bewusstseinsverlust führt.
Atemschwierigkeiten, Fieber mit Störungen des Nervensystems, starker Muskelsteifheit.
Plötzliche Anzeichen einer Infektion, z.B. Halsentzündung.
Gelbfärbung der Haut oder der Augen (Gelbsucht).
Bei Anwendung von Prazine während des letzten Drittels der Schwangerschaft können sehr selten bei Neugeborenen Zittern, Muskelsteifigkeit, Schwäche, Schläfrigkeit, Erregung, Schwierigkeiten beim Atmen oder Probleme beim Füttern auftreten.
Wenn Sie Nebenwirkungen bemerken, die hier nicht beschrieben sind, sollten Sie Ihren Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihre Ärztin oder Apothekerin informieren.
Aufbewahrung:
Prazine ist ausserhalb der Reichweite von Kindern aufzubewahren. Bei Raumtemperatur (15 - 25 °C) aufbewahren.
Das Arzneimittel darf nur bis zu dem auf der Packung mit «EXP» bezeichneten Datum verwendet werden.
Weitere Auskünfte erteilt Ihnen Ihr Arzt oder Apotheker, bzw. Ihre Ärztin oder Apothekerin. Diese Personen verfügen über die ausführliche Fachinformation.
1 Dragée Prazine 25 mg enthält: 25 mg Promazinhydrochlorid und Hilfsstoffe.
