Pentasa ist ein Arzneimittel zur Behandlung entzündlicher Darmerkrankungen. Es wirkt im akuten Stadium entzündungshemmend und verhindert oder verzögert das erneute Auftreten von Entzündungen im Dickdarm. Pentasa darf nur auf Verschreibung des Arztes oder der Ärztin angewendet werden.
Pentasa entfaltet auch bei Durchfall seine Wirkung. Sie müssen jedoch Ihren Arzt oder Ihre Ärztin über diesen Zustand informieren.
Bei Überempfindlichkeit gegen Mesalazin, andere Bestandteile des Präparates oder Salicylate (wie z.B. Aspirin) darf Pentasa nicht eingenommen werden.
Kinder unter 2 Jahren, Patienten mit Magen- und Zwölffingerdarmgeschwüren, Patienten mit krankhaft erhöhter Blutungsneigung sowie Patienten mit schweren Leber- und Nierenfunktionsstörungen sollen Pentasa nicht anwenden.
Dieses Arzneimittel kann die Reaktionsfähigkeit, die Fahrtüchtigkeit und die Fähigkeit, Werkzeuge oder Maschinen zu bedienen, beeinträchtigen.
Bei Leber- und Nierenfunktionsstörung sollte Pentasa mit Vorsicht unter Kontrolle der Leber- und Nierenwerte im Blut eingenommen werden.
Möglich sind Wechselwirkungen mit Arzneimitteln mit dem Wirkstoff Azathioprin, Tioguanin (ein Medikament gegen gewisse Arten von Krebs) oder Mercaptopurin (zur Behandlung von Erkrankungen des Immunsystems); die Wirkung von Azathioprin oder Mercaptopurin kann verstärkt werden.
Die blutzuckersenkende Wirkung von Arzneimitteln gegen Diabetes kann verstärkt werden. Die Verträglichkeit von Methotrexat (Arzneimittel gegen gewisse Tumore) kann verschlechtert werden (stärkere Nebenwirkungen).
Die Wirkung von harnsäureausscheidenden Arzneimitteln kann vermindert werden. Ebenfalls kann die Wirkung von wassertreibenden Arzneimitteln vermindert und die Wirkung von Rifampicin (Arzneimittel gegen Tuberkulose) abgeschwächt werden.
Die Wirkung von blutgerinnungshemmenden Arzneimitteln kann verstärkt werden.
Die Magen spezifischen unerwünschten Wirkungen (Reizung der Magenschleimhaut) von Kortisonpräparaten können verstärkt werden.
Informieren Sie Ihren Arzt, Apotheker bzw. Ihre Ärztin, Apothekerin, wenn Sie an anderen Krankheiten leiden, Allergien haben oder andere Arzneimittel (auch selbstgekaufte!) einnehmen.
Während der Schwangerschaft und der Stillzeit soll Pentasa nur mit ausdrücklicher Genehmigung des behandelnden Arztes bzw. der behandelnden Ärztin angewendet werden.
Pentasa geht in die Muttermilch über.
Informieren Sie Ihren Arzt oder Ihre Ärztin, falls Sie eine Schwangerschaft planen, schwanger sind oder Ihr Kind stillen.
Pentasa Depot-Tabletten während der Mahlzeiten mit etwas Flüssigkeit einnehmen.
Die 500 mg Depot-Tabletten sind mit einer Bruchrille versehen und können geteilt werden. Die 1 g Depot-Tablette hat keine Bruchrille und kann nicht geteilt werden. Bei Schluckschwierigkeiten können Sie die Depot-Tabletten vorgängig in einem Esslöffel oder Glas mit Wasser aufquellen lassen und sofort einnehmen. Depot-Tabletten nicht zerreiben und nicht kauen.
Pentasa Depot-Granulat: Den Inhalt eines Sachet in den Mund leeren und mit Flüssigkeit herunterspülen. Nicht zerkauen.
Depot-Tabletten 500 mg: 6-8 Depot-Tabletten, aufgeteilt in 2-4 Einzeldosen täglich.
Depot-Tabletten 1 g: 3-4 Depot-Tabletten, aufgeteilt in 2-4 Einzeldosen täglich.
Depot-Granulat 1 g und 2 g: 3-4 g, aufgeteilt in 2-4 Einzeldosen täglich.
In speziellen Fällen kann der Arzt oder die Ärztin eine von diesem Schema abweichende Dosierung verordnen.
Suppositorien: 1 Suppositorium (Zäpfchen) 1-2× täglich während 2-4 Wochen.
Depot-Tabletten 500 mg: ½ Depot-Tablette, 3× täglich.
Die Dosierung wird vom Arzt bzw. von der Ärztin individuell festgelegt.
Kinder unter 2 Jahren dürfen Pentasa nicht einnehmen.
Die Anwendung und Sicherheit von Pentasa Zäpfchen bei Kindern und Jugendlichen ist bisher nicht geprüft worden.
Ändern Sie nicht von sich aus die verschriebene Dosierung. Wenn Sie glauben, das Arzneimittel wirke zu schwach oder zu stark, so sprechen Sie mit Ihrem Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. mit Ihrer Ärztin oder Apothekerin.
Folgende Nebenwirkungen können bei der Einnahme von Pentasa auftreten:
Selten können während einer Therapie mit Pentasa dosisunabhängige Überempfindlichkeitsreaktionen wie Hautausschläge, Fieber, Krampf der Bronchialmuskeln (Bronchospasmus) und andere allergische Reaktionen auftreten. Gelegentlich treten Kopfschmerzen, Schwindel, Magen-Darmstörungen wie Brechreiz, Erbrechen, Durchfall, Bauchschmerzen, Blähungen und Ausschlag (Nesselausschlag, Hautrötung) auf. Selten können Entzündung des Herzens und akute Entzündung der Bauchspeicheldrüse auftreten.
Bei der Anwendung von Zäpfchen (Suppositorien) können lokale Reaktionen wie Juckreiz, Beschwerden im Rektalbereich und Stuhldrang auftreten.
Sehr selten können vorübergehender Haarausfall, Lupus erythematodes-ähnliche Reaktionen (eine Autoimmunkrankheit), erhöhte Leberenzym- und Bilirubinwerte, Lebererkrankungen (Leberentzündung, Zirrhose, Leberversagen), Nierenschäden, Verfärbung des Urins, allergische Lungenreaktionen (wie z.B. Husten, Atemnot, Entzündung der Lungenbläschen), Gelenk- und Muskelschmerzen, vorübergehend verminderte Spermienproduktion und Blutbildveränderungen auftreten.
Falls eine dieser Nebenwirkungen auftritt, oder falls Sie Krankheitszeichen bemerken, die hier nicht beschrieben sind, sollten Sie Ihren Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihre Ärztin oder Apothekerin informieren.
Die Pentasa Depot-Tabletten sind braun gefleckt. Dieses Farbmuster ist normal und kennzeichnet die besonderen Eigenschaften von Pentasa, welche eine verzögerte Wirkstoff-Freigabe im Darmbereich ermöglichen.
Pentasa Depot-Tabletten und Depot-Granulat sind im Originalbehälter vor Licht geschützt bei Raumtemperatur (15-25 °C) aufzubewahren.
Pentasa Zäpfchen sind bei Raumtemperatur (15-25 °C) und vor Licht geschützt, d.h. in der verschweissten Folie, aufzubewahren.
Arzneimittel ausser Reichweite von Kindern aufbewahren.
Das Arzneimittel darf nur bis zu dem auf dem Behälter mit «Exp.» bezeichneten Datum verwendet werden.
Weitere Auskünfte erteilt Ihnen Ihr Arzt, Apotheker bzw. Ihre Ärztin, Apothekerin. Diese Personen verfügen über die ausführliche Fachinformation.
