    +-Was ist Onglyza und wann wird es angewendet?

    Onglyza enthält den Wirkstoff Saxagliptin. Dieser gehört zu einer Klasse von Arzneimitteln oraler Antidiabetika, den sogenannten DPP-4-Hemmern (Dipeptidylpeptidase-4-Inhibitoren). Onglyza senkt bei Patienten mit Typ-2-Diabetes (Zuckerkrankheit) den Blutzucker.

    Onglyza kann alleine oder in Kombination mit bestimmten anderen Arzneimitteln, die den Blutzucker senken, eingenommen werden, und zwar immer zusammen mit einer gezielten Diät und ausreichender Bewegung.

    Onglyza senkt den Blutzuckerspiegel, wenn dieser zu hoch ist.

    Onglyza verstärkt den Insulinanstieg nach einer Mahlzeit im Körper.

    Onglyza wird auf Verschreibung des Arztes oder der Ärztin angewendet.

    +-Was sollte dazu beachtet werden?

    Was ist Diabetes Typ 2?

    Typ-2-Diabetes ist eine Erkrankung, bei welcher der Körper nicht genügend Insulin bildet und das körpereigene Insulin zudem nicht so stark wirkt wie es sollte. Zudem kann die Leber zu viel Zucker bilden. Wenn dies geschieht, reichert sich Zucker im Blut an, was zu schwerwiegenden gesundheitlichen Problemen führen kann.

    Das Hauptziel der Diabetesbehandlung besteht darin, den Blutzucker auf einen normalen Wert zu senken. Durch die Senkung und Kontrolle des Blutzuckerspiegels lassen sich Diabeteskomplikationen wie Herzerkrankungen, Nierenschädigung, Erblindung und Amputationen hinauszögern oder verhindern.

    Behalten Sie während der Behandlung mit Onglyza Ihre verordnete Diät sowie Ihr Bewegungsprogramm bei.

    Lassen Sie sich von Ihrem Arzt bzw. Ihrer Ärztin erklären, wie Sie einen zu niedrigen (Hypoglykämie) oder zu hohen (Hyperglykämie) Blutzuckerspiegel und andere mögliche Diabeteskomplikationen verhindern, erkennen und behandeln können.

    Ihr Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin wird Ihren Diabetes mit Hilfe regelmässiger Blutuntersuchungen überwachen, wozu Messungen der Glukose im Blut und des Hämoglobin-A1C-Wertes (HbA1C) gehören.

    Sie sollten Ihren Blutzuckerspiegel regelmässig kontrollieren, damit Sie selbst und Ihr Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin den Verlauf überwachen können.

    +-Wann darf Onglyza nicht eingenommen werden?

    Onglyza darf nicht angewendet werden:

    • wenn bei Ihnen schon einmal eine allergische Reaktion auf einen DPP-4-Hemmer aufgetreten ist oder wenn Sie allergisch auf einen Inhaltsstoff von Onglyza sind;
    • wenn Sie an Typ-1-Diabetes erkrankt sind;
    • wenn das Risiko einer diabetischen Ketoazidose besteht (gefährlich hohe Konzentrationen bestimmter Säuren, so genannter Ketonen, im Blut oder Urin).
    +-Wann ist bei der Einnahme von Onglyza Vorsicht geboten?

    Informieren Sie Ihren Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin über alle gesundheitlichen Probleme, die bei Ihnen vorliegen, insbesondere auch über Nierenprobleme.

    Wenn Ihnen während der Behandlung mit Onglyza schwindlig ist, verzichten Sie auf das Steuern eines Fahrzeugs sowie auf das Bedienen von Werkzeugen oder Maschinen.

    In Phasen, in denen Ihr Körper erhöhtem Stress ausgesetzt ist, zum Beispiel durch Fieber, eine Verletzung, eine Infektion oder Operation, wenden Sie sich bitte sofort an Ihren Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin, da Ihr Arzneimittelbedarf verändert sein könnte.

    Es wurden Fälle von Bauchspeicheldrüsenentzündungen (Pankreatitis) bei Patienten, die Onglyza einnahmen, beobachtet. Eine Pankreatitis ist eine schwerwiegende, potentiell lebensbedrohende Krankheit. Beenden Sie die Einnahme von Onglyza und suchen Sie Ihren Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin auf, falls Sie starke und anhaltende Bauchschmerzen, mit oder ohne Erbrechen, bekommen, da Sie an einer Pankreatitis leiden könnten. 

    Onglyza wurde bei Kindern und Jugendlichen unter 18 Jahren nicht untersucht. Daher sollte Onglyza von Kindern und Jugendlichen nicht eingenommen werden.

    Onglyza enthält Lactose. Aus diesem Grund sollten Patienten und Patientinnen mit der selten vererbten Galactose-Intoleranz, Lactose-Mangel oder Glucose-Galactose-Malabsorption Onglyza nicht einnehmen.

    Informieren Sie Ihren Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihre Ärztin oder Apothekerin, wenn Sie an anderen Krankheiten leiden, Allergien haben oder andere Arzneimittel (auch selbstgekaufte!) einnehmen!

    +-Darf Onglyza während einer Schwangerschaft oder in der Stillzeit eingenommen werden?

    Wenn Sie schwanger sind oder eine Schwangerschaft planen, sollten Sie Ihren Arzt resp. Ihre Ärztin konsultieren bevor Sie Onglyza einnehmen. Es ist nicht bekannt, ob Onglyza in die Muttermilch übergeht. Sie sollten deshalb Onglyza nicht einnehmen, wenn Sie stillen oder die Absicht haben zu stillen. Sprechen Sie mit Ihrem Arzt resp. Ihrer Ärztin.

    +-Wie verwenden Sie Onglyza?

    Nehmen Sie Onglyza immer genau nach Anweisung Ihres Arztes bzw. Ihrer Ärztin ein.

    Onglyza wird einmal täglich eingenommen. Sie können Onglyza mit oder ohne Mahlzeit einnehmen. Onglyza Filmtabletten dürfen nicht zerbrochen oder geteilt werden.

    Ihr Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin kann Ihnen Onglyza auch zusammen mit anderen blutzuckersenkenden Arzneimitteln verordnen.

    Wenn Sie an Nierenproblemen leiden, wird Ihnen der Arzt bzw. die Ärztin eventuell eine niedrigere Dosis von Onglyza verschreiben. Ihr Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin wird bei Ihnen von Zeit zu Zeit Blutuntersuchungen durchführen, um Ihre Nierenfunktionswerte zu bestimmen.

    Sollten Sie die Einnahme von Onglyza einmal vergessen haben, nehmen Sie das Arzneimittel ein, sobald Sie sich daran erinnern. Wenn Sie es erst am nächsten Tag bemerken, lassen Sie die vergessene Dosis aus und fahren Sie einfach mit Ihrem gewohnten Einnahmeschema fort. Nehmen Sie nicht die doppelte Dosis ein. Wenden Sie sich an Ihren Apotheker bzw. Ihre Apothekerin, wenn Sie Fragen im Zusammenhang mit einer ausgelassenen Dosis haben.

    Ändern Sie nicht von sich aus die verschriebene Dosierung. Wenn Sie glauben, das Arzneimittel wirke zu schwach oder zu stark, so sprechen Sie mit Ihrem Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. mit Ihrer Ärztin oder Apothekerin.

    +-Welche Nebenwirkungen kann Onglyza haben?

    Während der Behandlung mit Onglyza können die folgenden Nebenwirkungen auftreten:

    Häufig: Infektionen der oberen Atemwege, Harnwegsinfektionen, Kopfschmerzen, erniedrigte Blutzuckerwerte (Hypoglykämie), Schwellungen an den Händen und Fussgelenken (periphere Ödeme), allergische Reaktionen mit Hautausschlag und/oder Schwellungen im Gesicht.

    Gelegentlich kann Onglyza auch eine Nebenhöhleninfektion, Nasenverstopfung/Nasenlaufen in Verbindung mit Halsschmerzen, Bauchschmerzen, Entzündung im Magen/Darm-Trakt oder Erbrechen verursachen.

    Bei einigen Patienten zeigten Blutuntersuchungen eine geringe Abnahme der Anzahl an einer bestimmten Art von weissen Blutzellen (Lymphozyten).

    Seit der Markteinführung sind bei einigen Patienten schwere allergische Reaktionen (wie zum Beispiel Kreislaufschock, Schwellungen der Haut oder Schleimhaut, Nesselsucht) und Entzündung der Bauchspeicheldrüse beobachtet worden.

    Informieren Sie Ihren Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin über alle unerwünschten Wirkungen, die hier nicht beschrieben sind, wenn unübliche Symptome auftauchen oder wenn bekannte Symptome anhalten oder sich verschlimmern.

    Die Filmtabletten sollten in der Originalpackung ausserhalb der Reichweite von Kindern und bei Raumtemperatur (15-25 °C) aufbewahrt werden.

    Das Arzneimittel darf nur bis zu dem auf dem Behälter mit «EXP» bezeichneten Datum verwendet werden.
