Mucofor enthält als Wirkstoff Erdostein.
Auf Verschreibung des Arztes oder der Ärztin, dient es zur Behandlung von Atemwegserkrankungen, die zur Bildung von zähem Sekret führen, welche nicht oder ungenügend expektoriert werden können, wie akute Bronchitis und akute Schübe einer chronischen Bronchitis.
Mucofor verflüssigt den zähen Schleim und erleichtert dessen Auswurf und somit die Atmung, was zur Hustenlinderung beiträgt.
Mucofor darf nur auf ärztliche Verschreibung verwendet werden.
Die Wirkung von Mucofor können Sie mit genügender Flüssigkeitseinnahme und, falls Sie rauchen, mit Verzicht auf Tabak unterstützen.
Mucofor darf von Kindern und Jugendlichen nicht eingenommen werden.
Wenn Sie an bekannter Überempfindlichkeit (Allergie) gegenüber Erdostein, an Magengeschwür oder an schweren Leber- oder Nierenerkrankungen leiden, sollten Sie Mucofor nicht einnehmen. Ihr Arzt oder Ihre Ärztin weiss, was in solchen Situationen zu machen ist.
Die Beutel enthalten Lactose und Aspartam: Den Patienten, die an Lactose-Intoleranz oder an einer (seltenen) Erbkrankheit des Eiweissstoffwechsels (die sogenannte Phenylketonurie), die eine strikte Diät verlangt, leiden, werden die Kapseln empfohlen.
Bei Patienten mit schweren Leberfunktionsstörungen muss Mucofor vorsichtig dosiert werden. Hingegen kann Mucofor ohne Problem mit Antibiotika (Clamoxyl, Erythrocin, u.a.) und mit Theophyllin-Praeparaten (Unifyl, Euphyllin, u.a.), falls solche Produkte von Ihrem Arzt oder Ihrer Ärztin verschrieben wurden, eingenommen werden.
Bei Auftreten von Überempfindlichkeitsreaktionen (s. «Welche Nebenwirkungen kann Mucofor haben?») müssen Sie die Behandlung sofort absetzen und Ihren Arzt oder Ihre Ärztin informieren.
Beim Einnehmen von Mucofor sollten Sie nicht gleichzeitig Medikamente gegen Husten, die Antitussiva wie Kodein, Dextromethorphan oder Noscapin enthalten, einnehmen. Ein solches Antitussivum, das die Expektoration verhindert, kann eine Ansammlung der verflüssigten Sekretionen in den Bronchien verursachen, was das Risiko einer Atemwegsinfektion und eines Bronchialspasmus erhöht.
Informieren Sie Ihren Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihre Ärztin oder Apothekerin, wenn Sie an anderen Krankheiten leiden, Allergien haben oder andere Arzneimittel (auch selbstgekaufte!) einnehmen oder äusserlich anwenden.
Auf Grund der bisherigen Erfahrungen ist bei bestimmungsgemässer Anwendung kein Risiko für das Kind bekannt. Systematische wissenschaftliche Untersuchungen wurden aber nie durchgeführt. Vorsichtshalber sollten Sie während der Schwangerschaft und Stillzeit möglichst auf Arzneimittel verzichten oder den Arzt bzw. die Ärztin um Rat fragen.
Mucofor kann unabhängig von den Mahlzeiten eingenommen werden.
Wenn vom Arzt nicht anders verordnet:
Erwachsene: 2mal täglich 1 Kapsel zu 300 mg oder 1 Beutel.
Die Kapseln sind unzerkaut und mit etwas Flüssigkeit zu schlucken. Den Inhalt des Beutels in ca. 1 dl Wasser auflösen.
Der Arzt wird die Behandlungsdauer bestimmen. Sie beträgt normalerweise 7 bis 10 Tage. Falls die Beschwerden über 10 Tage anhalten, sollten Sie Ihren Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin wieder konsultieren.
Ändern Sie nicht von sich aus die verschriebene Dosierung. Wenn Sie glauben, das Arzneimittel wirke zu schwach oder zu stark, so sprechen Sie mit Ihrem Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. mit Ihrer Ärztin oder Apothekerin.
Folgende Nebenwirkungen können bei der Einnahme von Mucofor auftreten:
Gelegentlich wurden leichte Magenschmerzen und -brennen, Übelkeit und selten Durchfall gemeldet.
In seltenen Fällen können Überempfindlichkeitsreaktionen, mit Hautausschlägen, Schwitzen, Herzklopfen und/oder Atemschwierigkeiten, auftreten.
In einzelnen Fällen können Geschmacksstörungen auftreten, die innerhalb von einigen Wochen reversibel sind.
Wenn Sie Nebenwirkungen bemerken, die hier nicht beschrieben sind, auch wenn kein Zusammenhang mit dem Arzneimittel besteht, sollten Sie Ihren Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihre Ärztin oder Apothekerin informieren.
Das Arzneimittel ist bei Raumtemperatur (15?25 °C), vor Licht geschützt, an einem trockenen Ort und ausserhalb der Reichweite von Kindern aufzubewahren. Es darf nur bis zu dem auf der Packung mit «EXP» bezeichneten Datum verwendet werden.
Weitere Auskünfte erteilt Ihnen Ihr Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihre Ärztin oder Apothekerin. Diese Personen verfügen über die ausführliche Fachinformation.
