Inderal enthält den Wirkstoff Propranolol. Es schützt das Herz vor übermässiger Beanspruchung. Die Herzmuskelarbeit wird vermindert und die Reaktion des Herzens auf Belastung wird gedämpft. Inderal senkt den erhöhten Blutdruck. Angina pectoris (starke, drückende Schmerzen in der linken Brusthälfte, die in den linken Arm ausstrahlen können) tritt auf, wenn das Herz bei Belastung nicht genügend Sauerstoff erhält. Inderal verhindert diese Anfälle oder reduziert deren Häufigkeit und Schmerzintensität. Inderal wird auch nach einem Herzinfarkt zur Vorbeugung weiterer Infarkte eingesetzt. Ein unregelmässiger Herzrhythmus oder ein durch Krankheit oder Stress erhöhter Puls kann durch Inderal normalisiert werden. Inderal beugt kreislaufbedingten Kopfschmerzen und Migräne vor. Weitere Anwendungsbereiche von Inderal sind: essentieller Tremor (Zittern), Schilddrüsenerkrankungen (Überfunktion der Schilddrüse), Tumor der Nebennieren (Phäochromozytom; nur in Kombination mit anderen Arzneimitteln) sowie Angstzustände.
Inderal darf nur auf Verschreibung und unter ständiger Kontrolle des Arztes oder der Ärztin verwendet werden.
Falls Sie bereits früher einmal unter Asthma oder asthmatischen Atembeschwerden gelitten haben, dürfen Sie Inderal nicht einnehmen. Informieren Sie Ihren Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihre Ärztin oder Apothekerin.
Informieren Sie Ihren behandelnden Arzt bzw. Ihre behandelnde Ärztin auch, wenn Sie bereits früher einmal eine allergische Reaktion auf den Wirkstoff Propranolol oder einen anderen Inhaltsstoff gezeigt haben.
Bei folgenden Krankheiten sollten Sie auf die Einnahme von Inderal verzichten: Herzschwäche, Herzblock (Puls unter 50 Schlägen pro Minute), sehr langsamer oder unregelmässiger Puls, tiefer Blutdruck, schlechte Durchblutung, Brustschmerzen (Prinzmetal-Angina) oder Phäochromozytom, welches nicht mit anderen Arzneimitteln behandelt wird. Auch nach längerem Fasten sollten Sie Inderal nicht einnehmen. Teilen Sie Ihrem Arzt bzw. Ihrer Ärztin mit, wenn Sie an einer dieser Krankheiten leiden, damit Ihnen eine für Sie geeignete Behandlung verordnet werden kann.
Dieses Arzneimittel kann die Reaktionsfähigkeit, die Fahrtüchtigkeit und die Fähigkeit, Werkzeuge oder Maschinen zu bedienen, beeinträchtigen! Falls Sie während der Behandlung Schwindel oder Müdigkeit verspüren, sollten Sie weder Auto fahren noch irgendwelche Maschinen bedienen.
Informieren Sie Ihren Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihre Ärztin oder Apothekerin, wenn Sie an Atembeschwerden, geschwollenen Fussknöcheln, Zuckerkrankheit oder Durchblutungsstörungen leiden oder Probleme mit dem Herz, der Leber, den Nieren oder der Schilddrüse haben.
Teilen Sie Ihrem Arzt bzw. Ihrer Ärztin auch mit, wenn Sie Herzmittel, Blutverdünnungsmittel, Migränemittel, Schmerzmittel resp. Arzneimittel gegen zu hohen Blutdruck, Angina pectoris, Magenschmerzen, Tuberkulose, Asthma oder Zuckerkrankheit (Diabetes) einnehmen.
Sprechen Sie mit Ihrem Arzt bzw. Ihrer Ärztin, wenn Sie abschwellende Nasensprays oder Mittel gegen Erkältung anwenden.
Falls Sie Clonidin gegen Bluthochdruck oder Migräne einnehmen, sollten Sie weder Clonidin noch Inderal von sich aus absetzen, ohne mit Ihrem Arzt bzw. Ihrer Ärztin darüber gesprochen zu haben.
Bei Diabetikern kann Inderal das Ansprechen auf eine Behandlung mit Insulin oder oralen Antidiabetika sowie die Anzeichen einer Unterzuckerung (Hypoglykämie) verändern. Gelegentlich kann Inderal die normale Körperreaktion auf Insulin sowie auf einen tiefen Blutzuckerspiegel verändern. Inderal kann die Anzeichen einer Unterzuckerung unterdrücken oder verschleiern. Insbesondere ein schneller Puls als Zeichen einer Unterzuckerung wird weniger ausgeprägt wahrgenommen. Wenn Sie an Diabetes leiden und mit Insulin oder oralen Antidiabetika behandelt werden, sollten Sie daher besonders aufmerksam auf Zeichen einer Unterzuckerung (Hypoglykämie) achten. Selten kann der Blutzuckerspiegel sehr tief sinken und Ursache sein für epileptische Anfälle oder Bewusstseinsverlust.
Gelegentlich kann Inderal auch bei Patienten, die nicht an Diabetes leiden, zu einem tiefen Blutzuckerspiegel führen. Das gilt besonders für Kinder, ältere Patienten, Patienten unter Hämodialyse (Blutwäsche) und Patienten mit chronischen Lebererkrankungen sowie bei Einnahme einer Überdosierung und nach längerem Fasten.
Suchen Sie unverzüglich Ihren Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin auf, falls im Verlauf der Behandlung Ihr Ruhepuls unter 50 Herzschläge pro Minute sinkt oder falls Ihr Blutdruck zu niedrig ist. Anzeichen hierfür sind Müdigkeit, Energielosigkeit und Schwindel bei zu raschem Aufstehen.
Denken Sie vor einem chirurgischen Eingriff daran, dass dem Narkosearzt bzw. der Narkoseärztin alle Arzneimittel, die Sie einnehmen, bekannt sein müssen.
Falls Sie öfters Alkohol konsumieren, könnte dadurch die Wirkung von Inderal beeinflusst werden.
Inderal sollte wie alle Arzneimittel dieser Art schrittweise abgesetzt werden. Befolgen Sie deshalb unbedingt das Einnahmeschema, das Ihnen Ihr Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin verordnet hat.

Während einer Schwangerschaft oder in der Stillzeit dürfen Sie Inderal nicht einnehmen, ausser wenn Ihr Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin es Ihnen ausdrücklich verordnet hat.
Sie sollten Inderal nur unter regelmässiger ärztlicher Kontrolle und gemäss den Vorschriften Ihres Arztes bzw. Ihrer Ärztin einnehmen. Da das Ansprechen auf Herzmittel individuell sehr verschieden ist, kann die optimale Dosierung nur durch sorgfältige Einnahme unter ärztlicher Kontrolle herausgefunden werden.
Im Allgemeinen beträgt die Dosis für Erwachsene zu Beginn der Behandlung 80-120 mg täglich und wird bis auf 160-240 mg täglich gesteigert. Falls nötig, kann diese Dosis noch weiter erhöht werden.
Ihr Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin wird die Dosis je nach zu behandelnder Krankheit verringern oder steigern. Bei Kindern wird er die Dosis der Situation entsprechend anpassen.
Nehmen Sie Inderal vor den Mahlzeiten unzerkaut mit etwas Flüssigkeit ein, am besten immer zur gleichen Tageszeit. Wenn Sie einmal eine Tablette vergessen haben, nehmen Sie diese ein, sobald Sie sich daran erinnern. Es sollten jedoch nicht zwei Tabletten gleichzeitig eingenommen werden.
Ändern Sie nicht von sich aus die verschriebene Dosierung. Wenn Sie glauben, das Arzneimittel wirke zu schwach oder zu stark, so sprechen Sie mit Ihrem Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihrer Ärztin oder Apothekerin.
Folgende Nebenwirkungen können bei der Einnahme von Inderal auftreten:
Häufig wurden Müdigkeit, resp. Mattigkeit, Schlafstörungen, Alpträume, Verlangsamung des Herzschlages, Kältegefühl in den Fingern oder Zehen, Gefühlstörungen in den Händen und krampfartige Schmerzen in den Fingern beobachtet.
Gelegentlich sind Durchfall, Erbrechen und Übelkeit aufgetreten.
In seltenen Fällen wurde über kleinflächige Blutungen in die Haut oder Schleimhaut (Purpura), tiefe Blutzuckerspiegel, Halluzinationen, Stimmungsschwankungen, Verwirrtheit, Kribbeln in den Händen und Füssen, trockene Augen, Sehstörungen, Verschlechterung einer bestehenden Herzschwäche, Schwindel bei zu raschem Aufstehen, Verschlechterung von Atembeschwerden bei Asthmatikern, Haarausfall, Hautausschläge, Verstärkung einer Schuppenflechte, erhöhtes Risiko für Blutergüsse und Schwindel berichtet.
Auch Allergien, Mundtrockenheit, Verstopfung, Bauchschmerzen, Impotenz, Kopfschmerzen und Muskelschwäche können auftreten.
Wie bei allen Arzneimitteln zur Regelung der Herzschlagfrequenz kann es unter Inderal zu Herzrhythmusstörungen kommen.
Tiefe Blutzuckerspiegel können bei Diabetikern, aber auch bei nicht-diabetischen Patienten vorkommen. Das gilt besonders für Kinder, ältere Patienten bzw. Patientinnen, Patienten bzw. Patientinnen unter Hämodialyse (Blutwäsche), Patienten bzw Patientinnen mit chronischen Lebererkrankungen und nach längerem Fasten.
Wenn Sie Nebenwirkungen bemerken, die hier nicht beschrieben sind, sollten Sie Ihren Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihre Ärztin oder Apothekerin informieren.
Die Tabletten sollen bei Raumtemperatur (15-25 °C), vor Licht und Feuchtigkeit geschützt sowie für Kinder unerreichbar aufbewahrt werden.
Das Arzneimittel darf nur bis zu dem auf dem Behälter mit «EXP» bezeichneten Datum verwendet werden. Sollten Sie Tabletten oder Kapseln besitzen, deren Haltbarkeit abgelaufen ist, so bringen Sie diese bitte in Ihre Apotheke zur Vernichtung zurück.
Weitere Auskünfte erteilt Ihnen Ihr Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihre Ärztin oder Apothekerin. Diese Personen verfügen über die ausführliche Fachinformation.
