Glutril dient der Behandlung der Zuckerkrankheit bei Patienten/innen, die noch über eine eigene, jedoch ungenügende Insulinproduktion verfügen und deren Blutzucker mit Diät allein nicht beherrscht werden kann (Typ-II-Diabetes). Glutril senkt den Zuckergehalt des Blutes durch Förderung der noch möglichen Insulinausschüttung. Seine Wirkung tritt rasch ein und kann bis 24 Stunden lang anhalten.
Glutril darf nur auf Verschreibung und unter ständiger Kontrolle des Arztes/der Ärztin verwendet werden.
Halten Sie die Dosierungsanweisungen Ihres Arztes/Ihrer Ärztin und seine/ihre Diätvorschriften genau ein und suchen Sie regelmässig Ihren Arzt/Ihre Ärztin auf. Wenn Sie auch Übergewicht haben, ist es unerlässlich, dass Sie Ihre Kalorienzufuhr einschränken und abnehmen. Es ist falsch zu glauben, dass Sie durch Einnahme eines blutzuckersenkenden Arzneimittel weniger auf diese Massnahmen achten müssen.
Sollten Sie aus irgendwelchen Gründen vergessen haben, eine Dosis einzunehmen, setzen Sie sich mit Ihrem Arzt/Ihrer Ärztin in Verbindung; auf keinen Fall dürfen Sie die nächste einzunehmende Dosis verdoppeln.
Glutril darf nicht angewendet werden
? bei Überempfindlichkeit gegen den Wirkstoff von Glutril (Glibornurid), verwandte Substanzen (Sulfonylharnstoffe) oder einen der Hilfsstoffe von Glutril,
? bei Diabetes, bei dem die Bauchspeicheldrüse gar kein Insulin mehr bilden kann (sogenannter «Typ-I-Diabetes»),
? bei schwerem und unstabilem Diabetes,
? bei Diabetes mit akuter schwerer Stoffwechselentgleisung («Ketose» oder «Azidose» oder «Koma»),
? bei Kindern und Jugendlichen,
? bei schweren Störungen der Funktion von Leber, Nieren, Nebennieren, Schilddrüse und Hirnanhangdrüse,
? bei zu hohem Blutzucker, der durch ungewöhnlichen Stress, wie z.B. schwere Infektionen oder Operationen, ausgelöst wird,
? während Schwangerschaft und Stillzeit.
Ihr Arzt/Ihre Ärztin weiss, was in diesen Situationen zu tun ist.
Eine Behandlung mit Glutril verlangt eine regelmässige Kontrolle des Zuckers im Urin und im Blut.
Falls bei Ihnen plötzliche (vorübergehende) abnorme Müdigkeit und Konzentrationsschwäche auftritt oder falls Sie ohne Anstrengung schwitzen, könnten dies Zeichen einer übermässig starken Wirkung von Glutril sein, das heisst eines zu starken Absinkens des Blutzuckerspiegels. Nehmen Sie in diesen Fällen zwei Stück in Wasser aufgelösten Würfelzucker oder ein Glas Obstsaft ein. Die durch Unterzuckerung ausgelösten Zeichen verschwinden sodann innerhalb von einer halben Stunde. Falls dies nicht zutrifft, setzen Sie sich unbedingt so rasch wie möglich mit dem behandelnden Arzt/der behandelnden Ärztin in Verbindung.
Beachten Sie, dass eine stärkere und länger dauernde körperliche Anstrengung zu einer Unterzuckerung führen kann. Beachten Sie ebenfalls, dass eine Unterzuckerung die Aufmerksamkeit und demzufolge die Sicherheit beim Autofahren und Bedienen von Maschinen beeinträchtigen kann.
Gewisse Arzneimittel können die Wirkung von Glutril verstärken oder abschwächen. Zu diesen Arzneimitteln gehören z.B. gewisse Antibiotika und Präparate gegen Pilzerkrankungen (Miconazol, Fluconazol), verschiedene Schmerz- und Rheumamittel, Kortikosteroide (z.B. Cortison) gewisse Hormone (Anabolika, männliche Geschlechtshormone, Danazol, Arzneimittel zur Schwangerschaftsverhütung oder gegen Beschwerden in den Wechseljahren, Schilddrüsenhormone, Glucagon), harntreibende Mittel, Mittel zur Hemmung einer Übersäuerung des Magens, bestimmte Asthmamittel, gewisse Arzneimittel zur Behandlung von Herz- und Kreislaufbeschwerden, erhöhten Blutfetten, bestimmte blutgerinnungshemmende Arzneimitte, bestimmte Arzneimittel gegen Depressionen und andere psychische Erkrankungen, MAO-Hemmer zur Behandlung der Parkinsonkrankheit und von Depressionen, bestimmte Arzneimittel gegen Epilepsie, Probenecid gegen Gicht, gewisse Krebsmittel (z.B. Cyclophosphamid).
Während der Behandlung mit Glutril sollten Sie keine alkoholischen Getränke zu sich nehmen.
Informieren Sie Ihren Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihre Ärztin oder Apothekerin, wenn Sie an anderen Krankheiten leiden, Allergien haben oder andere Arzneimittel (auch selbstgekaufte!) einnehmen oder äusserlich anwenden!
Es ist nicht bekannt, ob der Wirkstoff von Glutril die Plazenta durchquert und unerwünschte Wirkungen auf die Bauchspeicheldrüse des ungeborenen Kindes haben kann. Bei gewissen blutzuckersenkenden Mitteln vom gleichen Typ ist das der Fall. Deshalb dürfen Sie Glutril während der Schwangerschaft nicht einnehmen.
Da Wirkstoffe vom Typ, wie sie in Glutril enthalten sind, in die Muttermilch übertreten können, dürfen Sie unter einer Therapie mit Glutril auch nicht stillen.
Informieren Sie Ihren Arzt oder Ihre Ärztin, wenn Sie schwanger werden möchten, schwanger sind oder Ihr Kind stillen möchten. Er/Sie weiss, was in solchen Fällen zu tun ist.
Ihr Arzt/Ihre Ärztin legt die für Sie geeignete Dosis von Glutril fest; im allgemeinen wird er Ihnen zu Beginn der Behandlung ½ Tablette pro Tag verordnen, die Sie am besten zum Frühstück einnehmen. Im Allgemeinen sollten Sie nicht mehr als 3 Tabletten pro Tag einnehmen. Die vom Arzt/von der Ärztin festgesetzte Höchstdosis dürfen Sie unter keinen Umständen überschreiten. Die Einnahme sollte stets zu einer Mahlzeit erfolgen.
Ihr Arzt/Ihre Ärztin wird Ihnen erklären, dass oft die Einhaltung der von ihm/ihr verschriebenen Diabetes-Diät genügt, um Ihre Zuckerkrankheit unter Kontrolle zu halten: Wenn Sie nur vorübergehend zu hohe Blutzuckerwerte oder Zucker im Urin aufweisen, ist in vielen Fällen eine kurzfristige Behandlung mit Glutril ausreichend. Der Entscheid über das Absetzen der Behandlung muss aber immer vom Arzt /von der Ärztin getroffen werden.
Die Umstellung von anderen blutzuckersenkenden Arzneimitteln auf Glutril ist möglich. Die Dosisanpassung erfolgt durch den Arzt/die Ärztin.
Die Sicherheit und Wirksamkeit von Glutril bei Kindern und Jugendlichen sind nicht untersucht worden.
Ändern Sie nicht von sich aus die verschriebene Dosierung. Wenn Sie glauben, das Arzneimittel wirke zu schwach oder zu stark, so sprechen sie mit Ihrem Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. mit Ihrer Ärztin oder Apothekerin.
Folgende Nebenwirkungen können bei der Einname von Glutril auftreten: Bei nicht geeigneter Dosierung von Glutril kann Unterzuckerung auftreten (siehe «Wann ist bei der Einnahme von Glutril Vorsicht geboten?»). Es empfiehlt sich, eine Person Ihrer näheren Umgebung über die ersten Hilfsmassnahmen bei Unterzuckerung in Kenntnis zu setzen. Bei Ohnmacht ist der Würfelzucker zwischen Zähne und Wangen zu legen. Nichts zu Trinken geben!
Gelegentlich treten Schwindelzustände, Schläfrigkeit und Kopfschmerzen auf.
In seltenen Fällen können Übelkeit, Völlegefühl, Durchfall, Verstopfung, allergische Hautreaktionen, (wie Hautausschläge, Juckreiz, Nesselsucht), Leberfunktionsstörungen, Gelbsucht oder Blutbildveränderungen (Abnahme der weissen und der roten Blutkörperchen und der Blutplättchen) auftreten.
Setzen Sie sich unverzüglich mit Ihrem Arzt bzw. Ihrer Ärztin in Verbindung, wenn sich eine oder mehrere der folgenden Nebenwirkungen einstellen: Übelkeit, Unwohlsein oder Bauchschmerzen, Erbrechen, beschleunigter Atem, Gelbsucht, dunkler Urin, heller Stuhlgang, Durchfall, Erhöhung der Körpertemperatur (Fieber), Drüsenschwellungen, Halsschmerzen und Anzeichen schwerer Hautreaktionen.
Wenn Sie Nebenwirkungen bemerken, die hier nicht beschrieben sind, sollten Sie Ihren Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihrer Ärztin oder Apothekerin informieren.
Sollten Sie während einer Behandlung mit Glutril erkranken, und sollten Sie dabei insbesondere erbrechen oder weniger essen, so informieren Sie unverzüglich Ihren Arzt/Ihre Ärztin. Auch wenn Sie in ein Krankenhaus eingewiesen werden müssen oder im Urlaub erkranken, müssen Sie den behandelnden Arzt/die behandelnde Ärztin auf Ihre Zuckerkrankheit hinweisen.
Das Präparat ist nicht über 25 °C und ausserhalb der Reichweite von Kindern aufzubewahren und darf nur bis zu dem auf dem Behälter mit EXP bezeichneten Datum verwendet werden.
Weitere Auskünfte erteilt Ihnen Ihr Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. mit Ihre Ärztin oder Apothekerin. Diese Personen verfügen über die ausführliche Fachinformation.
