    +-Was ist Famvir und wann wird es angewendet?

    Auf Verschreibung des Arztes oder der Ärztin.

    Famvir gehört in die Gruppe der Arzneimittel, welche gegen Viren wirksam sind (= Virostatika). Es stoppt die Vermehrung des infektiösen Virus. Da sich das Virus sehr früh bei einer Infektion vermehrt, werden die besten Behandlungsresultate erreicht, wenn mit der Famvir-Behandlung so rasch als möglich nach dem Auftreten der ersten Infektionsanzeichen begonnen wird.

    Famvir wird bei der von Herpesviren verursachten Gürtelrose, einschliesslich Herpes am Auge (= Zoster ophthalmicus), und zur Unterdrückung wiederkehrender sowie zur Behandlung von Herpes genitalis Infektionen eingesetzt. Angesprochen sind Patientinnen und Patienten mit intaktem Immunsystem ebenso wie Patientinnen und Patienten mit einem geschwächten Immunsystem.

    Bei Patientinnen und Patienten über 50 Jahren mit Gürtelrose bzw. Herpes am Auge kann die rasche Behandlung mit Famvir (innerhalb von 72 Stunden nach Einsetzen des Ausschlages) einen günstigen Einfluss auf das Auftreten des postherpetischen Schmerzes (starke Schmerzen, die bei Heilung von Herpes Läsionen auftreten) im Zusammenhang mit der Gürtelrose bzw. Herpes am Auge haben.

    +-Was sollte dazu beachtet werden?

    Dieses Arzneimittel wurde Ihnen von Ihrem Arzt bzw. Ihrer Ärztin zur Behandlung Ihrer gegenwärtigen Erkrankung verschrieben. Das Virostatikum in Famvir ist nicht gegen alle Mikroorganismen, welche Infektionskrankheiten verursachen, wirksam. Die Anwendung eines falsch gewählten oder nicht richtig dosierten Virostatikums kann Komplikationen verursachen. Wenden Sie es deshalb nie von sich aus für die Behandlung anderer Erkrankungen oder anderer Personen an. Auch bei einer späteren neuen Infektion dürfen Sie Famvir nicht ohne erneute ärztliche Konsultation anwenden.

    +-Wann darf Famvir nicht angewendet werden?

    Famvir darf nicht eingenommen werden, wenn eine Überempfindlichkeit gegen den Wirkstoff Famciclovir, Penciclovir oder einen Hilfsstoff von Famvir bekannt ist.

    +-Wann ist bei der Einnahme von Famvir Vorsicht geboten?

    Informieren Sie Ihren Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin, wenn Ihre Nieren nicht richtig funktionieren; er/sie wird Ihnen dann eine auf Ihre Bedürfnisse zugeschnittene Dosierung verordnen, die vom untenstehenden Schema im Kapitel «Wie verwenden Sie Famvir?» abweichen kann.

    Vorsicht ist geboten, wenn Sie Schwierigkeiten mit der Leber haben.

    Patienten, welche während der Einnahme von Famvir unter Schwindel, Schläfrigkeit, Verwirrtheit oder andren zentralnervösen Erscheinungen leiden, sollen auf das Lenken von Fahrzeugen oder Bedienen von Maschinen verzichten.

    Über die Anwendung bei Kindern und Jugendlichen unter 18 Jahren liegen keine Erfahrungen vor.

    Bei einer Infektion mit Herpesviren in der Genitalregion sollte jeglicher Sexualkontakt vermieden werden, da sonst der Partner/Partnerin angesteckt werden könnte (siehe «Was ist ferner zu beachten?»).

    Informieren Sie Ihren Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihre Ärztin oder Apothekerin wenn Sie an anderen Krankheiten leiden, Allergien haben oder andere Arzneimittel (auch selbstgekaufte!) einnehmen oder äusserlich anwenden!

    Insbesondere ist wichtig Ihrem Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihrer Ärztin oder Apothekerin mitzuteilen, wenn Sie folgende Arzneimittel einnehmen:

    • Probenecid (zur Behandlung von Gicht und zur Erhöhung der Plasmaspiegel von penicillinartigen Antibiotika), oder ein anderes Arzneimittel, das die Nieren beeinträchtigen kann.
    • Raloxifen (zur Vorbeugung und Behandlung von Osteoporose).
    +-Darf Famvir während einer Schwangerschaft oder in der Stillzeit eingenommen werden?

    Falls Sie schwanger sind oder es nächstens werden möchten, sollten Sie vorsichtshalber möglichst auf Arzneimittel verzichten und Famvir nur auf Anordnung Ihres Arztes bzw. Ihrer Ärztin einnehmen. Dasselbe gilt für die Einnahme von Famvir während der Stillzeit.

    Kinder und Jugendliche

    Die Anwendung und Sicherheit von Famvir bei Kindern und Jugendlichen unter 18 Jahren ist bisher nicht geprüft worden.

    Hinweise zur Anwendung

    Die Filmtabletten sollen unzerkaut und mit Wasser eingenommen werden. Famvir kann unabhängig vom Essen eingenommen werden.

    Patientinnen und Patienten mit intakter Immunabwehr: Gürtelrose, Vorbeugung des postherpetischen Schmerzes (starke Schmerzen bei Abheilung von Herpes zoster Läsionen) bei Patientinnen und Patienten über 50 Jahren, Herpes am Auge und 1. Episode von Herpes genitalis: Normalerweise sollten Sie Famvir beim Aufstehen, in der Tagesmitte und/oder vor dem Zubettgehen einnehmen.

    Patientinnen und Patienten mit geschwächter Immunabwehr: Gürtelrose: Je 1 Filmtablette beim Aufstehen, in der Tagesmitte und vor dem Zubettgehen einnehmen. Herpes genitalis: Je 1 Filmtablette beim Aufstehen und vor dem Zubettgehen einnehmen.

    Wiederkehrendes Auftreten von Herpes genitalis und Unterdrückung des Wiederauftretens von Herpes genitalis: Beim Aufstehen und beim Zubettgehen sollten Sie je 1 Filmtablette einnehmen.

    Bei eingeschränkter Nierenfunktion wird Ihnen der Arzt bzw. die Ärztin die Dosis entsprechend anpassen.

    Wenn Sie vergessen haben, eine Filmtablette einzunehmen, nehmen Sie sie sofort nach dem Bemerken des Fehlers ein. Nehmen Sie dann die nächste Dosis zur gewohnten Zeit und führen Sie die Therapie weiter wie zuvor.

    Eine begonnene Therapie mit Virostatika sollte so lange wie vom Arzt bzw. der Ärztin verordnet durchgeführt werden. Die Krankheitssymptome verschwinden oft, bevor die Infektion vollständig ausgeheilt ist. Eine ungenügende Anwendungsdauer oder ein zu frühes Beenden der Behandlung kann ein erneutes Aufflammen der Krankheit zur Folge haben.

    Ändern Sie nicht von sich aus die verschriebene Dosierung. Wenn Sie glauben, das Arzneimittel wirke zu schwach oder zu stark, so sprechen Sie mit Ihrem Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihrer Ärztin oder Apothekerin.

    +-Welche Nebenwirkungen kann Famvir haben?

    Folgende Nebenwirkungen können bei der Einnahme oder Anwendung von Famvir auftreten:

    Einige sehr seltene Nebenwirkungen, die schwerwiegend sein können

    • Starke Blasenbildung der Haut und/oder Schleimhaut der Lippen, Augen, Mund, Nasen- oder Genitalbereich (Anzeichen einer schweren Hautreaktion).
    • Ungeklärte quetschartige, rötliche oder purpurne Flecken auf der Haut oder Nasenbluten (Anzeichen einer Abnahme der Blutplättchen).
    • Schwellung unter der Hautoberfläche (z.B. Gesichtsschwellung, Schwellung um das Auge, des Augenlids oder des Rachens).
    • Violette Hautflecken, Jucken, Brennen (Anzeichen von entzündeten Blutgefässen)

    Wenn eine dieser Nebenwirkungen bei Ihnen auftritt, müssen Sie unverzüglich Ihren Arzt oder Ihre Ärztin kontaktieren bzw, die Nofallstation des nächstgelegenen Spitals aufsuchen.

    Famvir kann Kopfschmerzen, Übelkeit, Durchfall, Schwindel, Erbrechen, Bauchschmerzen, Hautausschlag und Juckreiz hervorrufen. Gelegentlich kam es zu Nesselfieber und, vorwiegend bei älteren Patienten, zu Verwirrung und Schläfrigkeit, ebenso kam es zu Halluzinationen, Gelbsucht sowie Palpitationen (Anzeichen unregelmässigen Herzschlags). Die Symptome sind in der Regel leicht bis mittelschwer.

    Hinweis für Patienten mit Nierenfunktionsstörung: Wenn keine Dosisanpassung vorgenommen worden ist, ist sehr selten ein Versagen der Nieren beobachtet worden.

    Wenn Sie Nebenwirkungen bemerken, die hier nicht beschrieben sind, sollten Sie Ihren Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ärztin oder Apothekerin informieren.

    +-Was ist ferner zu beachten?

    Arzneimittel sollen für Kinder unerreichbar aufbewahrt werden.

    Das Arzneimmitel soll vor Feuchtigkeit geschützt und nicht über 25 °C aufbewahrt werden.

    Das Arzneimittel darf nur bis zu dem auf der Packung mit «EXP» bezeichneten Datum verwendet werden.

    Bringen Sie die restlichen Arzneimittel, welche nach Beendigung der Behandlung nicht mehr benötigt werden, an die Abgabestelle (Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ärztin oder Apothekerin) zum Vernichten.

    Zu Herpes genitalis: Diese Krankheit ist sexuell übertragbar. Das Risiko einer Übertragung auf Ihren Partner oder Ihre Partnerin ist während den akuten Episoden erhöht. Wenn Sie Anzeichen einer Erkrankung (Juckreiz, Spannungsgefühl, Bläschen, Schmerz) feststellen, sollen Sie den Geschlechtsverkehr vermeiden, auch dann, wenn Sie bereits mit der Behandlung von Herpes genitalis begonnen haben.

    Weitere Auskünfte erteilt Ihnen Ihr Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihre Ärztin oder Apothekerin. Diese Personen verfügen über die ausführliche Fachinformation.
