    +-Was ist ellaOne und wann wird es angewendet?

    ellaOne wird auf Verschreibung des Arztes oder der Ärztin eingenommen.

    ellaOne ist ein Notfall-Empfängnisverhütungsmittel zum Einnehmen für alle Frauen im gebärfähigen Alter. Es kann zur Verhütung einer Schwangerschaft nach ungeschütztem Geschlechtsverkehr oder einem Versagen der Verhütungsmethode eingenommen werden, zum Beispiel:

    • wenn das Kondom Ihres Partners gerissen, verrutscht oder ganz abgegangen ist, oder wenn Sie vergessen haben, ein Kondom zu verwenden;
    • wenn Sie vergessen haben, die «Pille» regelmässig einzunehmen (Informationen dazu finden Sie in der Packungsbeilage ihres Empfängnisverhütungsmittels).

    Sie können ellaOne bis zu 120 Stunden (5 Tage) nach einem ungeschützten Geschlechtsverkehr oder Versagen der Verhütungsmethode anwenden.

    Die Wirkung von ellaOne beruht darauf, dass es die Wirkung des natürlichen Hormons Progesteron verändert. Die Wirkung wird darauf zurückgeführt, dass ellaOne den Eisprung verhindert. ellaOne ist nicht in allen Fällen wirksam: Etwa 2 von 100 Frauen, die ellaOne bis zu 5 Tage nach einem ungeschützten Geschlechtsverkehr einnehmen, werden trotzdem schwanger.

    ellaOne ist nicht geeignet für eine regelmässige Empfängnisverhütung.

    +-Wann darf ellaOne nicht eingenommen werden?

    ellaOne darf nicht eingenommen werden bei Überempfindlichkeit gegenüber dem Wirkstoff Ulipristalacetat oder einem der Hilfsstoffe; und wenn Sie schon schwanger sind oder vermuten, bereits schwanger zu sein. Bei schweren Lebererkrankungen dürfen Sie ellaOne ebenfalls nicht einnehmen.

    +-Wann ist bei der Einnahme von ellaOne Vorsicht geboten?

    Die Notfall-Empfängnisverhütung ist eine Ausweichmethode und darf nur gelegentlich zur Verhütung einer Schwangerschaft angewendet werden. Sie sollten ellaOne deshalb nicht mehrmals während ein und desselben Menstruationszyklus einnehmen. Nach der Einnahme von ellaOne kann die Ovulation innerhalb desselben Menstruationszyklus wiederkehren. Wenn Sie nach der Anwendung von ellaOne wieder Geschlechtsverkehr haben, müssen Sie deshalb eine Barrieremethode zur Empfängnisverhütung (z.B. ein Kondom) verwenden, denn für einen erneuten ungeschützten Geschlechtsverkehr ist ellaOne nicht mehr wirksam.

    Wenn Sie zurzeit hormonelle Empfängnisverhütungsmittel (z.B. eine «Antibabypille») einnehmen, können Sie die Einnahme nach der Anwendung von ellaOne wie gewohnt fortsetzen; Sie sollten jedoch bis zu Ihrer nächsten Menstruationsblutung zusätzlich eine Barriere­methode zur Empfängnisverhütung, wie etwa ein Kondom, anwenden (siehe weiter unten).

    Bei Ihrem Arzt bzw. Ihrer Ärztin können Sie sich über geeignete Methoden zur längerfristigen Empfängnisverhütung beraten lassen.

    Falls Sie eine Leberkrankheit haben, informieren Sie bitte Ihren Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihre Ärztin oder Apothekerin darüber.

    Informieren Sie bitte Ihren Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin, falls Sie unter schwerem Asthma leiden.

    Nach der Einnahme von ellaOne kommt es häufig zu einem verzögerten Eintritt der nachfolgenden Menstruationsblutung, dies insbesondere bei Jugendlichen unter 16 Jahren, sowie bei Frauen mit unregelmässigem Zyklus. Wenn Ihre Blutung mehr als 7 Tage zu spät einsetzt oder ungewöhnlich schwach oder stark ist, wenn Sie Beschwerden wie zum Beispiel Bauchschmerzen, Übelkeit, Erbrechen oder Brustschmerzen haben oder wenn Sie über eine mögliche Schwangerschaft im Zweifel sind, sollten Sie einen Schwangerschaftstest durchführen, um sicherzugehen, dass Sie nicht schwanger geworden sind.

    Da durch die Einnahme von ellaOne eine Schwangerschaft nicht in jedem Fall verhindert wird, sollten Sie bis eine Schwangerschaft definitiv ausgeschlossen ist auf die Einnahme von Arzneimitteln, sowie auf Alkohol und das Rauchen verzichten.

    Wichtig ist, dass Sie Ihren Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin aufsuchen, wenn Sie trotz der Einnahme von ellaOne schwanger geworden sind. Der Arzt bzw. die Ärztin sollte in diesem Fall untersuchen, ob eine Extrauterinschwangerschaft vorliegt (d.h. ob sich das Baby irgendwo ausserhalb Ihrer Gebärmutter entwickelt). Das ist besonders wichtig, wenn Sie nach der Einnahme von ellaOne starke Bauchschmerzen oder Blutungen entwickeln oder wenn Sie früher schon einmal eine Eileiter-/Bauchhöhlenschwangerschaft, eine Eileiteroperation oder eine längere (chronische) Infektion der Geschlechtsorgane (Unterleibsinfektion) hatten.

    Falls Sie sich Sorgen über sexuell übertragbare Krankheiten machen: ellaOne kann Sie nicht vor einer HIV-Infektion (AIDS) oder sonstigen sexuell übertragbaren Krankheiten (z.B. Chlamydien, Genitalherpes, Genitalwarzen, Gonorrhö, Hepatitis B, Syphilis) schützen. Vor diesen Krankheiten können Sie sich nur durch Verwendung von Kondomen schützen. Wenden Sie sich an Ihren Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin, wenn Sie diesbezüglich Sorge haben.

    ellaOne enthält Lactose-Monohydrat. Bitte nehmen Sie dieses Arzneimittel daher erst nach Rücksprache mit Ihrem Arzt bzw. Ihrer Ärztin ein, wenn Ihnen bekannt ist, dass Sie unter einer Unverträglichkeit gegenüber bestimmten Zuckern leiden.

    Dieses Arzneimittel kann die Reaktionsfähigkeit, die Fahrtüchtigkeit und Fähigkeit, Werkzeuge oder Maschinen zu bedienen, beeinträchtigen! Manche Frauen leiden nach Einnahme von ellaOne unter Schwindelgefühl, Benommenheit, Verschwommensehen oder Aufmerksamkeitsstörungen (siehe «Welche Nebenwirkungen kann ellaOne haben?»). Wenn Sie diese Symptome bei sich feststellen, dürfen Sie kein Fahrzeug führen und keine Maschinen bedienen.

    Informieren Sie unbedingt Ihren Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihre Ärztin oder Apothekerin, falls Sie eines der folgenden Arzneimittel einnehmen:

    • Arzneimittel zur Behandlung einer Epilepsie (z.B. Phenytoin, Phenobarbital, Primidon, Carbamazepin, Oxcarbazepin);
    • Arzneimittel zur Behandlung einer HIV-Infektion (Proteaseinhibitoren z.B. Ritonavir, Efavirenz);
    • Arzneimittel zur Behandlung bestimmter bakterieller Infektionen (z.B. Rifampicin, Rifabutin);
    • pflanzliche Arzneimittel mit dem Inhaltsstoff Johanniskraut (Hypericum perforatum) zur Behandlung von Depressionen oder Ängsten;

    ellaOne kann die Wirkung der regelmässigen hormonellen Empfängnisverhütung abschwächen. Deshalb sollten Sie nach Anwendung von ellaOne bis zum Beginn der nächsten Menstruationsblutung zusätzlich eine Barrieremethode zur Verhütung anwenden.

    ellaOne darf nicht zusammen mit Notfall-Empfängnisverhütungsmitteln angewendet werden, die Levonorgestrel enthalten.

    Informieren Sie Ihren Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihre Ärztin oder Apothekerin, wenn Sie an anderen Krankheiten leiden, Allergien haben oder andere Arzneimittel (auch selbstgekaufte) einnehmen oder äusserlich anwenden bzw. kürzlich eingenommen oder äusserlich angewendet haben!

    +-Darf ellaOne während einer Schwangerschaft oder in der Stillzeit eingenommen werden?

    ellaOne darf nicht eingenommen werden, wenn bereits eine Schwangerschaft besteht. Wenn Sie ellaOne während einer Schwangerschaft einnehmen, könnte dies Auswirkungen auf die Schwangerschaft haben. Falls Sie sich nicht sicher sind, ob Sie schwanger sind, sollten Sie einen Schwangerschaftstest durchführen (siehe «Wann ist bei der Einnahme von ellaOne Vorsicht geboten?»).

    Wenn Sie trotz der Einnahme von ellaOne schwanger werden, sprechen Sie bitte unbedingt mit Ihrem Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. mit Ihrer Ärztin oder Apothekerin darüber.

    Wenn Sie stillen

    Stillen Sie Ihr Kind nach der Einnahme von ellaOne eine Woche lang nicht. In diesem Zeitraum wird Ihnen empfohlen, die Muttermilch abzupumpen und zu entsorgen, um die Milchbildung anzuregen und aufrecht  zu erhalten.

    +-Wie verwenden Sie ellaOne?

    Nehmen Sie ellaOne immer genau nach Anweisung Ihres Arztes oder Apothekers bzw. Ihrer Ärztin oder Apothekerin ein. Bitte fragen Sie bei Ihrem Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihrer Ärztin oder Apothekerin nach, wenn Sie sich nicht ganz sicher sind.

    • Nehmen Sie so bald wie möglich und höchstens 120 Stunden (5 Tage) nach dem ungeschützten Geschlechtsverkehr oder dem Versagen der Verhütungsmethode eine Tablette ein. Verzögern Sie die Tabletteneinnahme nicht.
    • Sie können ellaOne vor dem Essen, zum Essen oder nach einer Mahlzeit einnehmen.
    • Sie können ellaOne jederzeit im Verlauf Ihres Menstruationszyklus einnehmen.
    • Wenn Sie innerhalb von 3 Stunden nach der Einnahme der ellaOne-Tablette erbrechen müssen, sollten Sie sich von Ihrem Arzt bzw. Ihrer Ärztin eine zweite Tablette verordnen lassen.
    • Bevor Sie ellaOne einnehmen, müssen Sie sicher gehen, dass Sie nicht schwanger sind.
    • Wenn Sie trotz der Einnahme von ellaOne schwanger werden, sprechen Sie bitte unbedingt mit Ihrem Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihrer Ärztin oder Apothekerin darüber (weitere Informationen siehe «Wann ist bei der Einnahme von ellaOne Vorsicht geboten?»).

    Zur Anwendung von ellaOne bei Jugendlichen (einschliesslich solcher <16 Jahre) liegen eingeschränkte Daten vor. Für Jugendliche ab der ersten Menstruation wird, falls angezeigt, dieselbe Dosierung wie bei Erwachsenen empfohlen.

    Ändern Sie nicht von sich aus die verschriebene Dosierung. Wenn Sie glauben, das Arzneimittel wirke zu schwach oder zu stark, so sprechen Sie mit Ihren Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. mit Ihrer Ärztin oder Apothekerin.

    Wenn Sie eine grössere Menge von ellaOne eingenommen haben, als Sie sollten

    Bisher wurden keine schwerwiegenden schädlichen Wirkungen nach Einnahme mehrerer Tabletten auf einmal beschrieben. Dennoch sollten Sie sich in diesem Fall an Ihren Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihre Ärztin oder Apothekerin wenden.

    Wie alle Arzneimittel kann ellaOne Nebenwirkungen haben, die aber nicht bei jedem auftreten müssen.

    • Beschwerden im Brustkorb, Entzündungen, verstärktes Durstgefühl
    • Husten, trockener Hals, Wassermangel (Dehydration)
    • Nasenbluten
    • Nesselausschlag
    • Schmerzen in Armen/Beinen, Gelenkschmerzen

    Das Arzneimittel darf nur bis zu dem auf dem Behälter mit «EXP» bezeichneten Datum verwendet werden.
