Dantamacrin wirkt krampflösend auf die Skelettmuskulatur. Auf Verschreiben des Arztes oder der Ärztin wird es angewendet zur Linderung von Verkrampfung der Skelettmuskulatur, einer möglichen Folge von Hirn- oder Rückenmarkschädigungen.
Eine weitere mögliche Anwendung von Dantamacrin ist zur Milderung von Blasenentleerungsstörungen (Reflexblase) bei Verkrampfung des äusseren Blasenschliessmuskels und der Beckenbodenmuskulatur.
Dantamacrin darf nicht eingenommen werden bei Leberleiden, eingeschränkter Lungenfunktion, bei schweren Herzmuskelschäden oder bei bekannter Überempfindlichkeit auf einen der Inhaltsstoffe.
Es darf nicht angewendet werden in Fällen, bei denen ein abnorm erhöhter Spannungszustand der Muskeln erforderlich ist, um eine bessere motorische Funktion, eine aufrechte Haltung oder die Bewegungsbalance zu ermöglichen.
Kindern unter 5 Jahren darf Dantamacrin nicht gegeben werden.
Die Kapseln enthalten Laktose und sind bei angeborener Galaktosämie, Glucose- und Galaktose-Malabsorptionssyndrom oder Lactasemangel nicht geeignet.
Vor Beginn sowie während der Behandlung mit Dantamacrin wird der Arzt bzw. die Ärztin in regelmässigen Abständen Bluttests zur Überprüfung der Leberfunktion durchführen.
Erste Anzeichen, die auf eine Leberschädigung hindeuten könnten, sind ungewöhnliche Müdigkeit, heller Stuhl, Juckreiz am ganzen Körper, Gelbfärbung der Haut oder der Augen, Appetitlosigkeit, Übelkeit und Erbrechen. In diesen Fällen muss sofort ein Arzt bzw. eine Ärztin aufgesucht werden. Solche Leberschäden können lebensbedrohlich sein, insbesondere bei älteren Patienten und Patientinnen.
Bei gleichzeitiger Gabe von Oestrogenen (Hormonpräparate, die «Pille») besteht ein erhöhtes Risiko einer Leberschädigung. Informieren Sie Ihren Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin, wenn Sie solche Arzneimittel einnehmen.
Dieses Arzneimittel kann die Reaktionsfähigkeit, die Fahrtüchtigkeit und Fähigkeit, Werkzeuge oder Maschinen zu bedienen beeinträchtigen, vor allem bei gleichzeitiger Einnahme von Beruhigungsmitteln oder Alkohol.
Die Haut kann während der Behandlung mit Dantamacrin empfindlicher auf Sonnenbestrahlung reagieren. Sie sollten sich deshalb vor Sonnenbestrahlung schützen.
Vorhandene Lähmungserscheinungen können durch die Gabe von Dantamacrin verstärkt werden.
Wenn Sie gleichzeitig ein Arzneimittel vom Typ Calciumantagonisten einnehmen müssen, so sprechen Sie mit Ihrem Arzt bzw. Ihrer Ärztin, unter Umständen muss Ihre Therapie geändert werden.
Informieren Sie Ihren Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihre Ärztin oder Apothekerin, wenn Sie an anderen Krankheiten leiden, Allergien haben oder andere Arzneimittel (auch selbstgekaufte!) einnehmen!
In der Schwangerschaft darf Dantamacrin nicht eingenommen werden, ausser es ist eindeutig erforderlich.
Stillende Frauen dürfen Dantamacrin nicht einnehmen.
Ihr Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin verschreibt die für Sie richtige Dosierung von Dantamacrin. Die individuelle Dosis wird durch eine langsame Dosissteigerung erreicht.
Beginnend mit 2× täglich 1 Kapsel zu 25 mg, erfolgt eine wöchentliche Dosissteigerung, bis die optimale Dosis erreicht ist. Folgendes Schema sollte eingehalten werden:
1. Woche: 2× täglich 1 Kapsel zu 25 mg.
2. Woche: 4× täglich 1 Kapsel zu 25 mg.
3. Woche: 3× täglich 1 Kapsel zu 50 mg.
4. Woche: 4× täglich 1 Kapsel zu 50 mg.
Höhere Dosen als 200 mg täglich sollten bei einer Langzeittherapie mit Dantamacrin nicht eingenommen werden. Es kann sein, dass Ihnen Ihr Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin in besonderen Situationen vorübergehend eine höhere Dosis verschreibt. Dosen über 200 mg (4 Kapseln zu 50 mg) täglich sollten nicht länger als 2 Monate eingenommen werden.
Falls sich nach 6?8 Wochen kein Behandlungserfolg einstellt, sollte die Therapie vom behandelnden Arzt abgebrochen werden.
Die Dosierung richtet sich nach dem Körpergewicht des Kindes.
Kinder mit einem Körpergewicht ab 25 kg:
1. Woche: 1 Kapsel Dantamacrin zu 25 mg.
2. Woche: 2 Kapseln Dantamacrin zu 25 mg.
Ab der dritten Woche erhalten Kinder 2 bis 3 Kapseln Dantamacrin zu 25 mg/Tag; die Dosis kann stufenweise bis auf 200 mg erhöht werden.
Ändern Sie nicht von sich aus die verschriebene Dosierung. Wenn Sie glauben, das Arzneimittel wirke zu schwach oder zu stark, so sprechen Sie mit Ihrem Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. mit Ihrer Ärztin oder Apothekerin.
Folgende Nebenwirkungen können bei der Einnahme von Dantamacrin auftreten:
Müdigkeit, Benommenheit, Schwindel, Schwächegefühl, allgemeines Unwohlsein oder Durchfall. Diese Beschwerden können meistens durch eine langsame Dosissteigerung zu Beginn der Therapie vermieden werden.
Der Durchfall kann schwer sein und ein vorübergehendes Absetzen der Therapie erfordern. Bei Fortdauer des Durchfalls ist Dantamacrin abzusetzen.
Abweichende Leberfunktionswerte, Leberschäden, (siehe auch «Wann ist bei der Einnahme von Dantamacrin Vorsicht geboten?»).
Appetitlosigkeit, Bauchschmerzen, Übelkeit, Erbrechen.
Kopfschmerz, Sprach- und Sehstörungen, Krampfanfälle.
Hautausschläge, Akne-ähnliche Hautreaktionen.
Beeinträchtigung der Atemfunktion.
Entzündung des Herzbeutels (Perikarditis), Flüssigkeitsansammlung im Brustfell (Pleuraerguss) mit Vermehrung der Eosinophilen im Blut.
Schüttelfrost, Fieber.
Verstopfung, in seltenen Fällen bis hin zum Darmverschluss, Schluckbeschwerden, Mundtrockenheit, vermehrter Speichelfluss, Verdauungsstörung (Dyspepsie).
Vermehrtes Schwitzen.
Ungenügende Herzleistung.
Depressionen, Verwirrtheitszustände, Sinnestäuschungen, Schlaflosigkeit und Nervosität.
Unfreiwilliger Harnabgang, häufigeres Harnlassen, auch während der Nacht. Vermehrtes Auftreten von Kristallen im Urinsediment (Kristallurie), Blutspuren im Urin (Hämaturie) oder dunkelfarbiger Urin (Chromaturie).
Bei Dosen über 200 mg Dantamacrin pro Tag muss verstärkt mit Nebenwirkungen gerechnet werden.
Wenn Sie Nebenwirkungen bemerken, die hier nicht beschrieben sind, sollten Sie Ihren Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihre Ärztin oder Apothekerin informieren.
Bewahren Sie dieses Arzneimittel ausserhalb der Reichweite von Kindern auf!

Das Arzneimittel darf nur bis zu dem auf dem Behälter mit «verwendbar bis» bezeichneten Datum verwendet werden.
Arzneimittel, die Sie nicht mehr einnehmen oder deren Datum abgelaufen ist, bringen Sie am besten zur Entsorgung zurück in die Apotheke.
