Cololyt ist ein Granulat zur Herstellung einer Trinklösung, die verwendet wird, um den Dickdarm zu entleeren; sie wird anstelle von Einläufen und Abführmitteln eingenommen. Die Lösung erzeugt Durchfall und reinigt den Darm rasch und gründlich. Cololyt wird auf Verschreibung des Arztes bzw. der Ärztin angewendet zur Vorbereitung des Darms auf diagnostische Untersuchungen, Röntgenaufnahmen und Operationen.
Cololyt darf bei drohendem oder bestehendem Darmverschluss (Ileus) und bei Durchlässigkeit des Dickdarms sowie bei Kindern unter 5 Jahren (oder mit einem Körpergewicht unter 20 kg) nicht angewendet werden.
Patienten bzw. Patientinnen, die zu Schluckbeschwerden neigen, bedürfen einer besonderen Überwachung.
Bei Kindern unter 5 Jahren oder mit einem Körpergewicht von unter 20 kg darf das Arzneimittel nicht eingesetzt werden.
Dieses Arzneimittel kann die Fahrtüchtigkeit und Fähigkeit, Werkzeuge oder Maschinen zu bedienen beeinträchtigen.
Informieren Sie Ihren Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihre Ärztin oder Apothekerin, wenn Sie an anderen Krankheiten leiden, Allergien haben oder andere Arzneimittel (auch selbstgekaufte) einnehmen!
Wenn Sie schwanger sind, es werden möchten oder stillen, sollen Sie Cololyt ausschliesslich nach Rücksprache mit dem Arzt bzw. der Ärztin einnehmen.
Falls vom Arzt bzw. von der Ärztin nicht anders verordnet, trinken Sie Cololyt in Portionen von 2 bis 3 dl alle 10 Minuten. Die gesamte einzunehmende Menge vor der Darmuntersuchung beträgt für Erwachsene 3 bis 4 Liter Lösung (1 Liter pro 15 bis 20 kg Körpergewicht). Dabei können Sie die ganze Menge am Vorabend einnehmen oder am Vorabend 1 Liter und am Morgen des Untersuchungstages 2 Liter trinken. Für Kinder wird der Arzt resp. die Ärztin die Menge individuell festlegen.
Die Lösung wird am besten kühl eingenommen. Bis zur Untersuchung dürfen Sie dann keine Speisen und Getränke mehr zu sich nehmen.
Ändern Sie nicht von sich aus die verschriebene Dosierung. Wenn Sie glauben, das Arzneimittel wirke zu schwach oder zu stark, so sprechen Sie mit Ihrem Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. mit Ihrer Ärztin oder Apothekerin.
Den Inhalt eines Beutels in eine Literflasche geben und diese zur Hälfte mit Wasser füllen. Intensiv schütteln, bis alles gelöst ist, dann mit Wasser auf 1 Liter auffüllen. Die Zugabe von salzarmen, zuckerfreien Aromastoffen oder Zitronensaft ist möglich.

Die häufigsten Nebenwirkungen bei der Anwendung von Cololyt sind Übelkeit und Blähungen, seltener Erbrechen und Entzündungen der Aftergegend. Alle diese Anzeichen sind kurzfristig und klingen auch rasch ab.
Wenn Sie Nebenwirkungen bemerken, die hier nicht beschrieben sind, sollen Sie Ihren Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihre Ärztin oder Apothekerin informieren.
Das Arzneimittel darf nur bis zu dem auf dem Behälter mit «EXP.» bezeichneten Datum verwendet werden. Die einmal zubereitete Lösung ist im Kühlschrank eine Woche haltbar.
Wie alle Arzneimittel sollte Cololyt für Kinder unerreichbar aufbewahrt werden.
Bei Raumtemperatur (15?25 °C) lagern.
