+-Was ist Alendronat Spirig HC und wann wird es angewendet?

Alendronat Spirig HC ist ein sogenanntes Aminobisphosphonat. Es stoppt den bei Frauen nach der Menopause (Wechseljahre) und auch den bei Männern auftretenden Knochenschwund (Osteoporose). Alendronat Spirig HC hilft den Knochen wieder aufzubauen und trägt dazu bei, dass der Knochen weniger leicht bricht.

Alendronat Spirig HC erhalten Sie ausschliesslich auf Verschreibung Ihres Arztes bzw. Ihrer Ärztin.

+-Was sollte dazu beachtet werden?

Was ist Osteoporose und warum sollte sie behandelt werden?

Unter Osteoporose versteht man ein Dünner- und Schwächerwerden der Knochen, wie dies bei Frauen nach der Menopause aber auch bei Männern häufig beobachtet wird.

Im frühen Stadium zeigt die Osteoporose üblicherweise keine Symptome. Wenn sie unbehandelt bleibt, treten häufig Knochenbrüche auf. Obwohl Brüche normalerweise schmerzhaft sind, können Wirbelbrüche auch unbemerkt bleiben bis sie durch einen Verlust an Körpergrösse entdeckt werden.

Die Knochenbrüche können während normalen alltäglichen Aktivitäten auftreten, wie z.B. beim Aufstehen oder bei leichten Belastungen, welche beim normalen Knochen nicht zu einem Bruch führen würden. Die Brüche treten üblicherweise an der Hüfte, an der Wirbelsäule oder am Handgelenk auf und können nicht nur Schmerzen verursachen, sondern auch erhebliche Deformierungen (wie stark gebeugte Haltung durch Verkrümmung der Wirbelsäule) und Behinderungen (Mobilitätsverlust).

Osteoporose bei Frauen nach der Menopause

Die Menopause tritt ein, wenn die Eierstöcke entfernt werden oder aufhören, das weibliche Hormon Östrogen zu produzieren. Zu dieser Zeit wird Knochen schneller abgebaut als aufgebaut, so dass Knochenschwund auftritt und die Knochen schwächer werden. Essen: Beachten Sie eine ausgewogene Ernährung. Ihr Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin kann Sie über eine Änderung Ihrer Ernährung oder eine Ergänzung zur Diät beraten.

Warum ist eine kontinuierliche Behandlung wichtig?

Die Langzeitbehandlung ist wichtig, um ein weiteres Fortschreiten des Knochenschwundes zu verhindern, den Knochen wieder aufzubauen und dadurch das Risiko für Knochenbrüche zu vermindern. Es ist deshalb wichtig, dass Sie die Anweisungen Ihres Arztes bzw. Ihrer Ärztin bezüglich der Einnahme von Alendronat Spirig HC befolgen.

+-Wann darf Alendronat Spirig HC nicht eingenommen/angewendet werden?

Nehmen Sie Alendronat Spirig HC nicht ein, wenn Sie auf irgendeinen der Inhaltsstoffe überempfindlich (allergisch) reagieren.

Sie dürfen Alendronat Spirig HC ebenfalls nicht einnehmen, wenn Sie

bestimmte Beschwerden in der Speiseröhre haben;
nicht in der Lage sind, nach Einnahme von Alendronat Spirig HC mindestens 30 Minuten lang aufrecht zu stehen, zu sitzen oder zu gehen;
an einer akuten Entzündung des Magen-Darm-Traktes leiden;
Ihr Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin Ihnen gesagt hat, dass Sie gegenwärtig einen tiefen Kalziumspiegel im Blut haben;
an einem mangelhaften Einbau von Mineralstoffen in das Skelett leiden;
eine schwer eingeschränkte Nierenfunktion haben;
schwanger sind oder stillen.

Alendronat Spirig HC ist nicht indiziert für die Verwendung bei Kindern und Jugendlichen.

+-Wann ist bei der Einnahme/Anwendung von Alendronat Spirig HC Vorsicht geboten?

Berichten Sie Ihrem Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihrer Ärztin oder Apothekerin über alle medizinischen oder zahnmedizinischen Probleme, die Sie haben oder früher gehabt haben, sowie über Ihnen bekannte Nierenleiden, Allergien und ob Sie rauchen oder früher geraucht haben. Wenn Sie Schluckprobleme oder regelmässig schwerwiegende Verdauungsprobleme haben, informieren Sie Ihren Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin, bevor Sie Alendronat Spirig HC einnehmen.

Nahrungsmittel und Getränke (ausgenommen Leitungswasser), sowie andere Arzneimittel, die innerhalb 30 Minuten nach der Einnahme von Alendronat Spirig HC eingenommen werden, vermindern die Wirkung von Alendronat Spirig HC, weil diese seine Aufnahme in den Körper verhindern. Dies gilt insbesondere für Antazida (Arzneimittel gegen Magenbrennen wie z.B. Alucol^®, Gelusil^®, Rennie^®, Ulcogant^®), Kalziumzusätze und Vitamine (siehe auch «Wie verwenden Sie Alendronat Spirig HC?»).

Informieren Sie Ihren Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin immer über alle Arzneimittel, die Sie gerade einnehmen oder einzunehmen gedenken (insbesondere Vitamin-D-Analoga, wie Rocaltrol^®), auch über solche, die Sie ohne Rezept erhalten.

Informieren Sie Ihren Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihre Ärztin oder Apothekerin, wenn Sie

an anderen Krankheiten leiden,
Allergien haben
oder andere Arzneimittel (auch selbstgekaufte!) einnehmen.

Es sind unter Alendronat Spirig HC über Nebenwirkungen berichtet worden, welche die Verkehrstüchtigkeit oder die Fähigkeit zum Bedienen von Maschinen beeinträchtigen können. +-Darf Alendronat Spirig HC während einer Schwangerschaft oder in der Stillzeit eingenommen/angewendet werden?

Nehmen Sie Alendronat Spirig HC nicht ein, wenn Sie schwanger sind oder stillen.

+-Wie verwenden Sie Alendronat Spirig HC?

Um vollumfänglich von Alendronat Spirig HC zu profitieren und damit eine Reizung der Speiseröhre verhindert wird, sollten Sie auf folgende Punkte achten:

Wählen Sie denjenigen Wochentag, der am besten in Ihren Terminplan passt. Nehmen Sie an diesem von Ihnen gewählten Tag jede Woche eine Wochentablette Alendronat Spirig HC.
Nehmen Sie Alendronat Spirig HC Wochentablette morgens nach dem Aufstehen auf nüchternen Magen, zusammen mit genügend Leitungswasser (2 dl), andere Getränke wie Mineralwasser, Fruchtsaft, Tee oder Kaffee können die Wirkung vermindern. Die Tablette darf nicht gelutscht oder gekaut werden. Es ist wichtig, dass Alendronat Spirig HC mit Leitungswasser und nicht mit Mineralwasser eingenommen wird. Sollte das Leitungswasser ungeniessbar sein (z.B. auf Reisen), ist ein kalziumarmes (weniger als 100 mg Kalzium pro Liter), kohlensäurefreies Wasser zu verwenden.
Bleiben Sie für mindestens 30 Minuten in aufrechter Haltung (sitzen, stehen oder gehen), nachdem Sie Alendronat Spirig HC eingenommen haben, und legen Sie sich bis zur ersten Nahrungsaufnahme nicht wieder hin. So gelangt die Alendronat Spirig HC Tablette rasch in den Magen und kann ihre Wirkung optimal entfalten, zudem wird so eine Reizung der Speiseröhre verhindert. Aus diesem Grund sollten Sie Alendronat Spirig HC auf keinen Fall vor dem Aufstehen oder vor dem Schlafengehen einnehmen.
Nehmen Sie während den 30 Minuten nach Einnahme von Alendronat Spirig HC keine andere Nahrung, Getränke oder andere Arzneimittel (einschliesslich Antazida, Kalziumzusätze und Vitamine) zu sich. Normales Leitungswasser ist erlaubt. Alendronat Spirig HC wirkt nur dann, wenn es mit Wasser auf leeren Magen eingenommen wird.
Falls Beschwerden oder Schmerzen beim Schlucken auftreten, bzw. Sodbrennen auftritt oder sich verschlimmert, nehmen Sie Alendronat Spirig HC nicht weiter ein und verständigen Sie Ihren Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin.
Falls Sie einmal eine Tablette vergessen haben, warten Sie bis zum nächsten Morgen und nehmen Sie dann die Tablette ein. Nehmen Sie nie zwei Tabletten am gleichen Tag ein. Nehmen Sie die nächste Wochentablette wie gewohnt an dem von Ihnen ursprünglich gewählten Wochentag ein.
Es ist wichtig, dass Sie Alendronat Spirig HC solange einnehmen, wie es Ihnen Ihr Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin verschrieben hat. Da nicht bekannt ist, wie lange Sie Alendronat Spirig HC einnehmen sollten, sollten Sie die Notwendigkeit dieses Arzneimittels weiterhin einzunehmen mit Ihrem Arzt bzw. Ihrer Ärztin periodisch besprechen, um zu entscheiden, ob Alendronat Spirig HC immer noch richtig ist für Sie.
Sollten Sie zuviele Tabletten eingenommen haben: Trinken Sie ein volles Glas Milch und setzen Sie sich sofort mit Ihrem Arzt bzw. Ihrer Ärztin in Verbindung. Versuchen Sie nicht zu erbrechen und legen Sie sich nicht hin.

Ändern Sie nicht von sich aus die verschriebene Dosierung des Arzneimittels. Wenn Sie glauben, das Arzneimittel wirke zu schwach oder zu stark, so sprechen Sie mit Ihrem Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. mit Ihrer Ärztin oder Apothekerin.

+-Welche Nebenwirkungen kann Alendronat Spirig HC haben?

Bei einigen Patientinnen und Patienten können Magen-Darmstörungen (z.B. Magenschmerzen, Bauchschmerzen, Verdauungsstörungen, Verstopfung, Völlegefühl, Durchfall, Blähungen, Schluckstörungen, Übelkeit, Erbrechen, schwarzer und/oder blutiger Stuhl) auftreten. In seltenen Fällen können schwerwiegende Verdauungsstörungen, wie Reizung oder Geschwürbildung der Speiseröhre auftreten, welche Brustschmerzen, Sodbrennen, Schluckbeschwerden oder Schmerzen beim Schlucken verursachen können. Dies kann insbesondere dann auftreten, wenn die Patientinnen oder Patienten die Wochentablette Alendronat Spirig HC mit weniger als 2 dl Leitungswasser einnehmen und/oder wenn sie sich innerhalb von weniger als 30 Minuten nach Einnahme bzw. vor Einnahme der ersten Mahlzeit wieder hinlegen. Eine solche Reizung kann sich verstärken, wenn die Behandlung mit Alendronat Spirig HC trotz Auftreten der Symptome fortgesetzt wird.

In seltenen Fällen können Kopfschmerzen, Knochen-, Muskel- und/oder Gelenkschmerzen auftreten, die selten schwerwiegend sind. Patienten, die schwerwiegende Knochen-, Muskel- und/oder Gelenkschmerzen beobachten, sollten Ihren Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin informieren. Bei den meisten Patienten verschwinden die Symptome nach dem Absetzen des Arzneimittels.

Schwellungen der Gelenke oder Anschwellungen der Hände oder Füsse können ebenfalls selten auftreten.

Vorübergehende grippeähnliche Symptome (selten mit Fieber) sind bei Beginn der Behandlung aufgetreten.

In seltenen Fällen wurde Juckreiz, Augenschmerzen oder Augenentzündungen oder Hautausschlag beobachtet, der gelegentlich durch Sonnenlicht verschlimmert wurde. Über Haarausfall wurde berichtet. Selten können schwere Hautreaktionen auftreten.

Allergische Reaktionen, wie Nesselfieber oder Schwellung von Gesicht, Lippen, Zunge und/oder Rachen, was Atem- oder Schluckprobleme verursachen kann, treten selten auf. Schwindel oder ein veränderter Geschmackssinn können auftreten.

Magenreizungen (wenige davon schwerwiegend) sind selten aufgetreten.

Mundreizungen können auftreten, wenn die Tablette gekaut oder gelutscht wird.

Selten wurde nach Zahnextraktion über verspätete Heilung und Infektionen im Kiefer berichtet.

Es wurden Fälle von Oberschenkelfrakturen ohne Gewalteinwirkung berichtet. Kontaktieren Sie Ihren Arzt bzw. Ihre Ärztin, wenn Sie neue oder ungewöhnliche Schmerzen im Bereich der Hüfte oder des Oberschenkels bemerken.

Informieren Sie Ihren Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihre Ärztin oder Apothekerin sofort, wenn Sie solche oder andere ungewöhnliche Symptome beobachten.

+-Was ist ferner zu beachten?

Bewahren Sie dieses Arzneimittel ausserhalb der Reichweite von Kindern auf.

Bewahren Sie Alendronat Spirig HC Wochentabletten in der Originalpackung bei Raumtemperatur (15?25 °C) auf.

Das Arzneimittel darf nur bis zu dem auf der Packung mit «EXP.» bezeichneten Datum verwendet werden.
