Beconase wirkt lokal in der Nase antiallergisch und entzündungshemmend und wird bei Erwachsenen über 18 Jahren zur Behandlung des Heuschnupfens oder eines anderen saisonal auftretenden allergischen Schnupfens verwendet. Die volle Wirkung tritt erst nach ein paar Tagen ein.
Bei Überempfindlichkeit gegenüber einem Bestandteil von Beconase Microdoseur darf dieser nicht angewendet werden.
Beconase ist nicht zur sofortigen Behebung eines akuten allergischen Schnupfens (Heuschnupfen) geeignet. Die volle Wirkung tritt erst nach ein paar Tagen ein.
Wenn eine lokale Infektion im Nasen-Rachenraum besteht oder wenn Ihre Nase kürzlich verletzt oder operiert wurde oder vereitert ist, sollten Sie Beconase nur nach Rücksprache mit Ihrem Arzt bzw. Ihrer Ärztin anwenden.
Allergische Beschwerden der Augen (Juckreiz, übermässiger Tränenfluss) werden durch Beconase nicht beeinflusst und bedürfen einer zusätzlichen Behandlung, wenn sie störend sind.
Bei übermässigem Gebrauch oder Langzeitanwendung bei Kindern kann die Möglichkeit einer Wachstumsverzögerung nicht ausgeschlossen werden. Der Arzt bzw. die Ärztin wird deshalb die Wachstumsentwicklung von Kindern, welche über längere Zeit mit Beconase behandelt werden, sorgfältig beobachten.

Wenn Sie schwanger sind oder es werden möchten, sollten Sie Beconase nur nach Rücksprache mit dem Arzt oder der Ärztin anwenden, und nur, wenn dies unbedingt erforderlich ist. Auch in der Stillzeit darf das Präparat nur auf Anweisung des Arztes oder der Ärztin verwendet werden.
Beconase ist nur zur Anwendung in der Nase bestimmt. Es ist wichtig, Beconase regelmässig anzuwenden, da die volle Wirkung erst nach ein paar Tagen eintritt.
Erwachsene über 18 Jahren: 2× täglich 2 Einzeldosen oder 3 bis 4× täglich 1 Einzeldosis in jedes Nasenloch einsprühen.
Die maximale Dosierung pro Tag sollte 4 Einzeldosen in jede Nasenöffnung nicht überschreiten.
Falls nach einer 14-tägigen Behandlung keine Besserung der Symptome eintritt, soll der Arzt bzw. die Ärztin konsultiert werden.
Eine Anwendung von Beconase bei Kindern und Jugendlichen unter 18 Jahren darf nur auf Anweisung des Arztes oder der Ärztin hin erfolgen.
Halten Sie sich an die in der Packungsbeilage angegebene oder vom Arzt resp. der Ärztin verschriebene Dosierung. Wenn Sie glauben, das Arzneimittel wirke zu schwach oder zu stark, so sprechen Sie mit Ihrem Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. mit Ihrer Ärztin oder Apothekerin.
1. Die Nase sorgfältig putzen. Dann den Plastikdeckel vom Nasenansatzstück abnehmen und den Nasenspray schütteln.
2. Vor dem allerersten Gebrauch muss die Pumpvorrichtung gefüllt werden. Dazu den Spray wie auf der Abbildung zwischen Zeige-/Mittelfinger und Daumen senkrecht halten und einmal zusammendrücken.
3. Den Kopf etwas nach vorne neigen und ein Nasenloch zuhalten. Das Nasenansatzstück in das andere Nasenloch einführen.
4. Den Nasenspray zwischen Zeige-/Mittelfinger und Daumen zusammendrücken. Durch die Nase einatmen und langsam durch den Mund ausatmen. So ist 1 Einzeldosis appliziert worden.
5. Sollen 2 Einzeldosen verabreicht werden, Vorgang 4 wiederholen. Gleiche Dosierung ins andere Nasenloch einsprühen.
6. Nach Gebrauch Nasenansatzstück mit einem Papier- oder Stofftaschentuch abwischen und den Plastikdeckel wieder aufsetzen.
Folgende Nebenwirkungen können bei der Anwendung von Beconase auftreten:
Häufig kann es während der Behandlung vorübergehend zu Trockenheit und Reizung der Nase und des Rachens, zu unangenehmem Geschmack und Geruch sowie zu Nasenbluten kommen.
Sehr selten wurde über einen erhöhten Augeninnendruck oder Glaukom (= grüner Star) und Katarakt (= grauer Star) berichtet. In seltenen Fällen konnte eine Perforation (Durchbruch) der Nasenscheidewand festgestellt werden.
Auch über Überempfindlichkeitsreaktionen (Schwellungen im Gesicht, Rötung, Juckreiz, Nesselsucht, Atemnot bis zu schweren Kreislaufreaktionen) ist berichtet worden. In diesen Fällen sollte die Behandlung sofort abgebrochen und ein Arzt bzw. eine Ärztin konsultiert werden.
Falls irgendein Krankheitszeichen auftritt, bei dem Sie einen Zusammenhang mit der Anwendung von Beconase vermuten, sollten Sie Ihren Arzt oder Apotheker bzw. Ihre Ärztin oder Apothekerin benachrichtigen und die Behandlung abbrechen.

Beconase ist nicht über 30 °C, jedoch nicht im Kühlschrank, und ausser Reichweite von Kindern aufzubewahren.
Das Arzneimittel darf nur bis zu dem auf dem Behälter mit «EXP» bezeichneten Datum verwendet werden.
